She obviously has a low intelligence level as she actually had to attempt to explain what she meant by 'was it emotional' by asking 'did people cry', the male host asks John to talk about something very evocative and emotional, and then the female host just completely cuts him up to point out something he and many of the viewers already knew.

I'm a psychologist and if you look in the DMS-IV under test results for cognitive ability you will find that the lowest rated % are classed as 'retarded' while the top % are classed as superior. Maybe some people have use it as an insult or people find it offensice, but the truth is that it is an official medical definition. Much like categorising a persons weight as 'obese'.
