I play touhou since the begining of the series and I can say , THAT IS modded of course. The Fps don't proof nothing... When you cheat for the slowmotion during the game (with a laggy computer for exemple) the replay ll work perfectly on a "nice" computer with 60fps. Another proof, when he hit something he makes a big bomb, how could he be so synchro to press "x" when the bullet touch him, the bullets appears only 2 frames on the screen. Imposs.

no, the video was NOT slowed down at all. look at the FPS. it remains 59-60. the slow down is actually the recording of the video, NOT the player playing.

@keikun332 Not so sure about that. Check out KpMBHU_tka4, the author states its a TAS at 25% but the FPS in the corner stays at 60. I dunno how its done, maybe a bug in EoSD or some special slowdown program.

And I mean, there is simply no f-ing way a human could have done this at normal speed :)

@rjskt59 yes this is a very late post, but I have this game, and to make sure I get better, I only play on lunatic mode, haven't even touched any other difficulties. I notice myself getting better and better, and progressing through the game easier the more I play, and I do this without continues so I don't have to relie on them.

But all in all, if you play a level enough times you see when a attack will happen so this guy is probbly forseeing all the attacks.

@rjskt59 that would only apply if he recorded this WHILE doing it. If he did it slomo, and saved a replay, then sped it up and played the replay, it looks like normal speed (you can trick friends into thinking your a touhou god that way)

@keikun332 The replay itself was recorded at 60 FPS, but you don't know whether the original play was also at that speed, especinally since EoSD didn't have the "original slow rate" on the bottom right of the playscreen like everything from PCB and after did.

In fact, my extra replay video had a slow rate of about 15% when I actually played, but i recorded at close to 60 FPS most of the time, and people won't be able to tell that I played at slower FPS unless I tell them about it.

Actually, I just found another video detailing the same runthrough, and it clearly noted that the player played at 1/2 speed.

It's quite an impressive run considering it's only slowed to 1/2 speed.

I just tried the patch out. I would need like 50 extends to 1cc this thing. Okay probably less, but 50 would probably make it certain.

I was able to clear stages 1-5 in Practice mode through mostly bombspam. Not like I could skillfully clear any of them. And there's no way I could do it in the actual game because then I don't get the extends on every single level.

If you directly copy and paste the filenames at the end of the video info and rename the .DAT files like that, it should work... The problem might be with "eosd.exe". The .exe and .cfg file need to be named like this:

東方紅魔郷.exe

東方紅魔郷.cfg

(That's "touhou" + whatever "紅魔郷" is if my japanese is coorect)

@joface99 Definitely need a clean japanese only version. the eng. patch modifies some DAT files so it's no good. It's been a long time since I tried this patch so I'm probably not going to be of much help... Also, if you're running in Win7 or something you may have problems too. Try setting run as administrator, compatibility modes, applocale, etc

For those unfamiliar, EoSD has a variable difficulty system where the game will constantly get harder and harder with faster bullets, and more bullets in each pattern, so long as you don't die. Once you die, the game lowers the difficulty down and gradually increases it again. A "rank hack" is where you hack the game to make it so the variable difficulty system is always set as high as it can go, which appears to be what happened here.

Hmm, really? I don't really know much about EoSD, but you may be partly right. But I think the author of the patch went a bit further and custom-tweaked most of the game data. Otherwise, why would the patch need to touch all the data files? It's certianly harder than any rank hack videos I can find.
