All motorists who have had enough of draconian parking enforcement and exhorbitant parking fees should stand united with NoToBikeParkingTax, whether or not they support the particular battleground upon which it is being fought. It's time to show them the motoring public has had enough. Google 'nutsville' if you want to know how rotten is the state of Westminster!
Welcome to the wonderful FACISM disneyland implemented by the usual crowd of left brain emotionally stunted civil servants... on behalf of the inbred masters. This comes as no surprise.
it's not the £1 charge that bothers me as a biker, it's the fines, twice i've forgotten to pay it and been fined £60 each time, then they close bays without warning and fine everyone £60 and don't get me started on bus lanes, another £60 for driving on a road that went from allowed to banned in the space of 100 yards...another £60 fine...the £1 charge isn't what the council wants, it's the £60 fine they are making money from which they couldn't apply if the bay's continued to be free.
looked like a good rally against parking charges, i hope it gets changed but somehow with government like it is i doubt it, sorry to be such a glass half empty person it just seems like other citys will just be biding their time before they have a scheme similar to this.
Amazing demo, well planned - we're waiting in the wings for the next one!! We cannot let Westminster win this battle...we're fighting for all bikers in the UK - for this year and many more to come!
I was there - big white Guzzi - what a great turnout and what great organisation. Thought the silence by the Abbey for the memorial service was really well observed. What we need next ? A sea of bikes from all over the country in London - for a big picnic in Hyde Park (on a sunny day of course). Great work everyone in the campaign - especially Warren et al.
Was there, fantastic turnout feel really proud to be part of something so important? We must protest against this tax as it will only be a matter of time before its not just a Westminster problem but a country wide problem. Its not the cost its the principle, so listen WESTMINSTER
Its because of the congestion charge that more people are on scooters and bikes therefore shouldn't some of the revenue raised for the congestion charge be spent on providing more spaces inside the congestion charge zone? I thought that was the whole point of the charge, to discourage car use, that means more buses/trains and secure places to park bikes, motorbikes/pushbikes anything that is not a car should be encouraged and not discouraged.
This was a great protest but I feel like the council will just do whatever they want to do like a dictatorship. Its a shame the BBC London news said hundreds of bikers when it was thousands, I still think more people could have turned up, I past loads of bikes on my way there all going home after work when I am sure they could have come. We need to do something that gets on the national news like block the M25 or something that is really embarrassing for Westminster council fucking thieves.
Motorcyclists will always stick together! We will never give up this fight and the government must come to realise that they're stealing money from the wrong people!

@tjolly45 yeah ur right, however.. weren't all motorcycle allowed on all red route bus lanes? They lied to us.
They dont want to encourage motorbikes. They love cars in this damn country.

WELL DONE !! AND I WAS THERE !!!
The most important thing is that bikers are waking up. We had been beaten down to become pussycats.
This restors some pride.
We need more and bigger targets. What's next? Parliament? Buckingham Palace?
YEAH !! YES WE CAN !!!

We are right but we have to prove it.
1) Discrimination against non mobile and card users.
2) Cheap alternative when there should've been more consultation.
3) No changes to bays which creates confusion and traps bikers
4) Changing decades of free parking almost overnight. Smacks as vengeful.
5) They make up their minds and then they consult.
6) No clear indication on how quickly users have to phone. Creates doubt and catches bikers like a bear trap.

Fantastic, really good demo, this is how it should be done, unlike the demo the following day. LOL
Motorsickle are behind you all the way, we are looking forward to the next one!

Great protest and fantastic so many turned up.
If Westminster get away with this, parking taxes for bikes will spread like a cancer across the country. A line needs to be drawn.
Bikes should be encouraged as an efficient and clean form of transport - not taxed off the roads.
Drivers already pay £1.2 Billion each year in parking tax or £45 each
We pay:
- VED
- 70% tax on fuel
- VAT on related products.
Why should we pay for roadside parking when we already pay many times over?
