I think the emotion is all to interpretation. The suicide can be seen as a sullen surrender to life that is serene yet gloomy. Or it can be seen as a tense final yelp from a person brutalized by life's chains. So fast or slow it works I feel
Actually, this piece of music is from the movie The Hours. And this particular selection from the movie, is where a character kills herself, so its not too fast, thats how its supposed to be. He did play it a TAD bit faster than was originally done, but not so much that you dont get the mood and feeling of the piece. So you are supposed to be feeling slightly anxious.

Actually..
of course i know the movie, it's one of my favorites
and now , hearing again this interpretation i believe it is unbelievably fast and quite without emotion!
I really don't like it sadly..
Branka Parlic's ( see ''philip glass: the hours'' on the side) is adorable if you ask me :)
