I like the song but why did it have to be a soundtrack for Rahxephon I watched the series didn't like it to much so I didn't bother with the movie this song would've been so much more satisfying for me if they put it on a better mecha anime like eureka 7, or neon genesis evangelion, plus it would've fit perfectly on either one but the song itself is awesome

Yutaka Izubuchi's vision of rahxephon was a story of lovers torn seperated by time, hence lovers of lost dimensions. The choice for this tune is that it's originally a song from the musical "kismet" in which a commoner falls in love with a princess. Although maaya sakamoto's lyrics in the refrain are closer to the original by borodin, which describes longing for the loved homeland. It's a leitmotif.

It's only awful when it's an amateur shot and/or if the band is any good at all live. Watch Muse's song Knights of Cydonia live at the Wembly. It's pitch perfect and professionally shot. Also, you explained why I don't like studio versions. I can't tell you how many times I've been disappointed with a band when they had a great album and are an atrocious band live. Which means they can't get their act together on the first try, which means they suck...most of the time.

Maaya is singing a harmony part to his melody in most sections. If she were any louder, she'd start to muddy up the melody, though her voice is very pretty. Notice when they sing at the same time and she is singing in Japanese, his voice is slightly softer. Good mixing there. =)
