i like the name of mister SOUL...en :-) my english is not the best (i am german) but if i get it right, some comments are really aggressive? is that the way to discuss themes on YouTube??? i like very much to cOMpare different opinions, but it is not such a big joy if comments seem to be mental bombs thrown to destroy integral ideals. no? isn't this exactly the way we do war all the time? this childish throwing sand in playgrond? degree or no degree at all like me to be integral interested :-)
It is a load of crap. I don't have a psychology degree and even I know it. If this guy would only play it for laffs, it could be really great. The trouble is, he talks for twenty minutes and there is never a punchline.
On the other hand, maybe these folks need it? I mean, if it's the choice between this guy or cocaine or booze, then I guess he's the better choice? I use this reasoning so I don't see evangelists as vile con men.
Integral psychotherapy includes the body, mind, and Spirit and most of all is done by a therapist who is at the integral level of being. Failing the later it is just pretend integral psychotherapy. May all beings be healed.
I would recommend what Dr Loren Mosher and Dr John Weir Perry recommend: they didn't want to treat their patients with therapy or change them at all, their basic view was TO BE with the individuals who needed love and care. That's much better then therapists who want to indoctrinate patients with their view on reality and mental health !!
Far from it. The LAST professional I would seek help from though, is a shrink, after being destroyed by one. No way I'm going to see another mental-rapist, after being destroyed by one.
Most of these quack forms of psychotherapy are merely mental masturbatory constructs of idle middle class male philosophy addicts trying to figure out how they can make a quick per visit buck, on the many brands, of philosophies which came out of Europe the past two hundred or so years. Thats all psychotherapy really is. Then the feminists in the US come along and put their stamp on top of it and package and sell it to women. It's all marketing that's all it really is. Like cigarettes.
Assume for a moment that shrink follows all ethical rules does everything right with a client, yet client still distorts everything she or he has learned from therapeutic relationship. All know that people have influence on other people in the real world. Client goes out into world after therapy & affects others with distorted view of therapy, causing distress to others. Shrinks can't control this, hence the profession is corrupt by design because it harms people not involved in the therapy.
nadsab1, U persist in this constant criticism of the therapeutic community & obviously U have a good inquisitive mind. Why don't you get on a mission of adding hope 2 troubled people's lives because there IS good stuff out there ... many great things in the therapy world. Yes, it is good 2 remind people that ALL systems have flaws, but not all R wholly CORRUPT as U suggest!! Study & groom yourself 2 make speeches on BETTER ways 2 deal with mental health issues instead of just criticizing! Do it!
Check out Stephen Gilligan. A pioneer. First realize your true nature. Let go concepts and allow your insight into Reality to inform your treatment of clients. It must be spontaneous and not informed by ideas! This makes it difficult to teach.

Great just what the world needs more - my religion is better more TRUE than yours!
Did not mean to offend you personally, I have them in my favorites because I need a good laugh once in a while.
I did not say one religion is better than another. Nor that one form or psychotherapy is better than another. Just that most forms of psychotherapy are quackery. That's just my opinion; others no doubt disagree.
Yes I offend an entire profession, and thats because said profession is not realistically ethically enforced, and thats from my first hand personal experience.
Thanz for fucking 9:25 minutes of my life faggot. Maybe u should try put some real vids on youtube about large boobs and naked chicks, and don't suck ppl time.
I personally believe that there are far too many people who get into the psych profession and many of the folks in it are in for the wrong reasons. I have know many therapists who have emotional and mental difficulties and their way of dealing with their psychological problems is to both study psychology and then take it further & start practicing on others with problems -- it's s form of therapy for them, to help others with psychological problems they they themselves have. Continued below...
Hi, nadsab1, it's me again. I'm with Y on a lot of things U say but I have 2 disagree that "it's a form of therapy 4 therapists 2 help others". It's a form of STAYING SICK! Many therapists need 2 set themselves up as "helpers" so that they can be "looked-up" to in order 2 feel good about themselves, but they never really do feel good about themselves, there is not enough admiration in the world 2 fill up the holes inside of themselves that they are 2 frightened 2 recognize that they have.
...The above described types of therapists who are seriously disturbed should be taking care of their own problems instead of jumping in and getting these psych degrees that universities pass out like candy, and screwing some emotionally vulnerable person up in the head. Many of these psychological problems such therapists have can be transferred to the client -- this is called counter transference.
The people making money in the psychotherapy profession are those who got into it 20 or 30 years ago and now make some money by giving seminars to newcomers in which there are three or 4 new shrinks to replace the one who retires in a dying and corrupt profession with a shrinking client base. Psychotherapy is a pyramid scheme. You want to be part of that mess? Get an engineering or hard science degree instead if you are good in math, or go into health (not mental) care.
I feel sorry for young people in expensive grad & PhD programs for psychotherapy. Trust me, it's a waste of money there are too many people getting into shrinkdom less and less people getting talking cure because of harmful corrupt psychotherapy profession, after going into 100 grand debt to get that degree you aint going to make much and will be paying on that loan until you retire. Trust me it aint worth it. If you want to make bucks in health care become a physical therapist nurse or MD.
Now why on earth, after being emotionally and psychologically raped, bludgeoned and lied to by two quack shrinks, would I ever want to read one iota of literature written by practitioners from said profession which has no legitimate ethical enforcement, oversight or practical means to protect clients from unethical behavior, especially when the code of ethics in said profession is nebulous, vague, open to interpretation and realistically un enforceable?
"Ummm...so...aaahhh....a couple things.....ummm...just to say, it's a work in progress. There is no one "thing" that is integral psychotherapy." -Jeff Soulen, MD
Gee interesting, so integral psychotherapy is what ever the flavor of the day is -- do your own thing. Hmmm, sure sounds scientific and accurate and descriptive to me. I wonder if "no one "thing" has been tested to be safe and effective for mental health clients by the AMA haha.
Step right up folks! Step right up -- doc Clark Stanley's Snake Oil Liniment psychotherapy treatment for whatever ails you!
Depressed? Marriage trouble? Anxiety? Yes psychotherapy is the cure for all mental ailments! Step right up and watch and see for yourself a psychotherapy session where Doc Stanely cures someone with obsessive compulsive disorder!
Trouble communicating with boyfriend / girlfriend! Sex problems?
Only a hundred bucks an hour over several years, and you'll be cured!
Many shrinks r money grubbing greedy folks who love to charge emotionally distressed and vulnerable people over a hundred bucks an hour. Many of them lie, cheat and steal. My shrink lied. To me, and to licensing board. And got away with it. Shrinks have a reputation equal to used car salespeople, snake oil peddlers and divorce attorneys. I should not put them in that same class though, I don't want to offend the snake oil people, at least you get something tangible when you buy snake oil.
Guess what happens when client is harmed by quack shrink & files a complaint with state psychotherapy licensing board? NOTHING! You think these licensing boards protect clients? NOT. They protect THERAPISTS & provide false sense of security that the profession is watched over by ethics enforcers. It's not. Shrinks can violate any ethics codes they want & get away with it. Shrinks r rarely reprimanded for their unethical mis deeds. Psychotherapy: psychobabble poppycock.
gives a shocking report on this and how the med industry is not interested in cures but in marketing drugs that don't work. The decline of psychotherapy oppose to psychiatry has made us sicker! more than half in the US population is on some sort of med.
While feeling mistrust in IP is understandable, we must realize that resolving human inner conflicts -conscious or unconscious though they may be- is going to require a new way of resolving them and IP is one of many who are trying..
Resolving inner conflicts? Inner conflicts are a part of life -- what's to resolve? I used to think your way, that any one with whatever flavor of shrinkology degree can help "resolve issues", whatever that means. It's all baloney. In the end it's all pandering for profit. Life is hard, people treat each other mean (and shrinks treat clients mean too), and then you die. Why pay good money for something that is inherently dishonest, ineffective, false claims? Spend money on a boat instead.
Whoa!! looks like many commenting are not too keen on IP...for thos who feel this way..I have a question: What should one make of the recent decline of psychoanalytic therapies (such as IP) and the rise of drug based mental health treatment?
I'm sure you are well aware that the pharmaceutical industry is using the American people as guinea pigs: 100,000 die a year because they followed the instructions of their doctors. A new book that came out called
I'm tired of seeing all these glowing testimonials about how wonderful psychotherapy is, which in many cases the opposite is true -- that psychotherapy is manipulation for profit. I'll never trust another shrink again after what happened. Don't trust their licensing boards either. Life has been a living hell since it was ruined by a counseling firm I once trusted. Psychotherapy often cases causes more damage than the problems claimed are solved. There is a reason why they're called shrinks.
Shrinks don't care who they hurt. If they screw up, violate their codes of ethics and former clients complain to therapist or licensing board, they blame their victims for not taking responsibility. They manipulate, they harm relationships, break up marriages, relationships, perform psychotherapy by proxy, charge 100 + bucks an hour for doing damage. Licensing boards protect therapists not clients. If therapist screws up, destroys a life, you think they help former harmed clients? NOT!
Integral psychotherapy and most of the other half baked forms of therapy is for the upper middle class. It's for people with money. The folks who do best in psychotherapy are those who need it the least and can best afford to pay for it out of pocket. Real people with real problems won't get any help from the kinds of therapists in the video because they can't afford it.
This is a bunch of self aggrandizing psychobabble quack shrinks pandering towards each other their phoney baloney which they sell for over a hundred bucks an hour to members of the upper middle class which have nothing better to waste their money on. These shrinks can do pretty much what they want as far as stirring up peoples souls up with a barbed covered stick ripping apart trust and love in an unmonitored profession where ethics are not enforced.
