Just a quick note-the video states that the camera takes an SD card. In fact it takes an xD card. The xD card also allows you to create really cool panoramas.
i have this amera but now the battery case has broken and is being held together with tape is it me or when u put ur batteries into this camera does ur battery case stick up because of the force, not only this but the camera uses soooo much batteries its crazy...does any1 know where i an get it fixed
1) Switch to video mode. I suppose, zoom automatically will be changed to 1x.
2) Enter menu and switch the sound on. I had a luck to check sp-550 today, it was so, I can't remember exactly now, where you can turn on sound recording, but it's easy, there is a special icon near this option like in all other olympus cameras.
I don't understand what does this feature with focal length means (I had only read it somewhere), but you certainly have to check sound recording in menu.
I am going on a photography trip to yosemite/bodie ghost town/lake tahoe/lake mono/ mammoth lakes/ san fran this summer and i was looking at this camera because it has good optical zoom. would you know if this camera is a good enough quality and a good value for what i am going to do? i am not looking for an slr with expensive lenses but i did see that you could get mroe telephoto lenses for this camera. could you say that this camera would be worth getting?

i got this camera about a month ago and i find it great. while on my overseas trip, i found out that it is particularly useful at taking pictures from a range such as birds and preety girls^^ thrust me, the dual image stabilization really works.
the only thing i like about the camera is the zoom

Have this camera,but when i film and later look at the video,there is no sound heard.
any thoughts?

You have to set focal lenth to minimum for having sound.

i've got the 565 and it doesn't record any sound with the videos either :(
i thought mine was defective but it seems they're all like that.

i found out the prob allready, just can't seem to explain it lol.
Just go to the store you bought it from(if you didn't buy it from the internet) and ask help for there.

fixed! thanks!! :)
in video mode go to Menu > Camera Menu > then go to the microphone icon between Metering and Fulltime AF > set to On
and now it should work :)
