not so many! it only happens in poor neighborhoods , slums. usually it involves very young unschooled girls of romanian origin and young gypsy men. in the country there are romanian villages and there are gypsy villages.
its easy to tell apart gypsies from vlachs. different facial features , height , and very distinct accent.
btw , according to some sources , albanians are our closest relatives.

But, if the majority of immigrants to Italy are gipsies than the italians can easily think that Romania is full of gypsies. Same happened with my country regarding Canada, for a time.
