Not even footprints in the sand? Wow... cheesy. If they want the visuals to suck the player in and feel like part of the world - big fail. The character looks like a bunch of vectors in the middle of the screen backdropped against a scrolling background. Heck, even WOW characters look more like they're part of the environment around them.

@trfvhg it's not coming out in JAN 12 and they haven't released a date yet. They said HOLIDAYS 2011, January would be a bad move. They have to do it before Christmas if they want in on the large bucks... Expect October-November.

EA has a bunch of assorted titles releasing this holiday season, it's extremely hard to say when it's releasing because of this. The game is clearly not in closed beta anymore because of this announcement, again, it is very likely it will come this holiday season.

@Azatis Graphics were turned down for streaming purposes. Most of the gameplay videos on youtube are recordings of people playing at cons and such so no audio, crap video. The game itself is beautiful and smooth. There are two decent videos from Totalbiscuit including one with developer commentary and VO from the game.

@blackice2142 Calm down, they haven't give a release because they're not sure when it'll be ready. They've had alot of feedback so alot of the game is subject to change. Bioware say 2011 it'll most likely be a november release, they say 31st dec at the latest. You can be damn sure ea will bioware release this for the holiday.
I thought each different spec/class was supposed to be a 100% completely different story line? This to me looks like the exact same quest as was shown in the SI gameplay video.

@xSynergized Nope i asked if they had it and then they said it would be releaced on that date so i said i would pre-order it cuz i wanted the STAP, bonus yellow cristal, special eddition mouse droid companion, holo dancer, and the training droid companion, and the odd camara thing that looked cool. thats the collecters edithion.

@trfvhg it's not coming out in JAN 12 and they haven't released a date yet. They said HOLIDAYS 2011, January would be a bad move. They have to do it before Christmas if they want in on the large bucks... Expect October-November.

@cod5ki11er It's very likely it will be this holiday season, fiscal year is prone to video game releases. However, EA cannot compete with EA. EA has a bunch of assorted titles releasing this holiday season, it's extremely hard to say when it's releasing because of this. Another wave of beta testers are going into test the game on September 2nd, this year. The game is clearly not in closed beta anymore because of this announcement, again, it is very likely it will come this holiday season.

@xSynergized AHA but you see, they said they'll be testing all the way to release, and they'll only be testing for like a month. Starting testing now means it will be COMING OUT 2011. I Promise you that, SWTOR forum speculation. Nobody says anything about 2012 out of all the 1000 posters

@xSynergized OPEN Testing, they said they're Opening a new server and inviting A SHIT LOAD of people aka "stress testing" the release is soon, Gamespot is just a placeholder, they keep it at that date until the real official date is released, they said the Beta Weekends will go up to release, and it's going to go for about 2 months.. November 1st "early access" November 8th "retail" Beta Weekends are different than inside testing. January = MONEY LOSS. EA = MONEY CRAZY. :D

@cod5ki11er Yes, they have been hauling more and more people in the closed beta phase over time, the closed beta population is much bigger than it used to be, it's not open beta phase yet however, thats what the "early access" passes are for, that is that beta.. And yeah, the release will be soon, the question is when. There are no announcements though regarding any of the claims you've stated, where are you getting this information aside from guessing?

@xSynergized technically early access isn't even open beta, it is just as it says early access in that you get to make your full client character early, beta characters are only for the beta test, even in open beta, so if they do an open beta it will be before early release access.

@trfvhg Gamestop has no knowledge of when a game is being released outside of the placeholder date, as of now there is no release date, they are all rumors. There is no officially announced release date, you have to wait for the producer to announce the information. Like any retail outlet, they trick you to buy their product or feed you into buying their product, you have clearly been mislead.

@Azatis Graphics were turned down for streaming purposes. Most of the gameplay videos on youtube are recordings of people playing at cons and such so no audio, crap video. The game itself is beautiful and smooth. There are two decent videos from Totalbiscuit including one with developer commentary and VO from the game.

I wish people would stop going "Omfg wah the combat is bugged, he soloed an elite!" in a demonstration video. Of course they would negate most of the damage for a demonstration, because if they died and spent 6 minutes walking back to their body it wouldn't be much of a demonstration would it?
It would be like dieing during a floor-showing of a video game at E3... hah.. oh wait.. people do that, because they didn't edit the diffuculty.

@blackice2142 Calm down, they haven't give a release because they're not sure when it'll be ready. They've had alot of feedback so alot of the game is subject to change. Bioware say 2011 it'll most likely be a november release, they say 31st dec at the latest. You can be damn sure ea will bioware release this for the holiday.

You can NOT say that they made the graphics to lep low spec computers play. Guild wars 2 has BEAUTIFUL graphics, and the lead designer Collin once said that they were testing it on such old computers, you can't even buy the graphics cards anymore. It's just that the developers decided to get lazy and not even try on this space WoW game.
