Personally I don't think there is a difference, with proper calibration of either straight or curved arms scratching shouldn't be an issue.
Some do say that a straight arm causes quicker record wear. A curved arm will track a record a bit more accurately since it's shaped to the direction of the groove
U still have ur technical and if so are they good to use for gigs?
