It has had a HUGE influence, and it will continue to be a huge influence. It's especially interesting as it's also a highly social though often impersonal protocol.
The internet was created by the US Army as a way to send battle plans and such to soldiers without the other side in the war being able to see it. (at the time of course).
The technology that changed my life is youtube. Everything I know about life comes from youtube. They do it better than my school! Without it, I have no clue where I would be.
youtube, CPL and WCG cyber game championships. the rise of internate gaming - worlds most popular online fps game series : Counter-Strike (im talking about v1.5 and 1.6.. please forget source) kazaa, napster, torrents - piracy. rise of the multi core CPU's , the rise of ipod. wireless internet. god.. that book better be more then 2000 pages..
The first GUI, the Internet and world wide web, Windows that come with internet browsers build in, The Netbook, Intel processors on the mac, Solid State Drives, Wireless internet, and there are many more things.
Gameboy, iPod, iPhone, Mac OS X, THE SEGA Genesis, duh? Moments: The return of Steve Jobs, Bill Gates at Macworld Boston '97, Nintendo leaves Sony out to dry (thus the PlayStation was born) & last but not least, YouTube!!!!
Apple II was the opening to what we think of computers today, and then later Windows 1.0 . Attari 2600 gave us an insight to gaming which has then developed into it is today
@lockergnome, what about when apple first started up? Or maybe when apple made the first GUI (Although they just brought it from Xerox) and when microsoft scaved it?
Haha, that would be interesting. Or how about when apple tortured an employee because he lost one of the rare iphone 3rd gens and he later killed himself?
I would just say the Internet because there's a lot of cool thing you can access, I use it sometimes for help with my projects for school and other homework, and best of all, you can access it anywhere in the world! Without it, we wouldn't be here right now, and I wouldn't have my show Dan the Computer Man! So thank god for the person who invented the Internet!
I think she should include how social networks such as myspace, facebook, Twitter, etc, has contributed to sedentary lifetsyle, as well as made people overly social.
1993 I worked at a startup internet service provider called phoenix data systems located in clear lake, TX. I spoke with a manager of a local mall who wanted to put his mall online. Turns out this was the first online shopping mall. I also used a computer to do a Mobile DJ event in sept 1999 another 1st in TECH/DJ history. We also setup kiosks in the mall and sold dial up accounts for 39.95 plus 150 for the chameleon dial up software another 1st.
Cell Phone. Because I use it all day, and if I have an emergency like in 2008, when I had a car crash, I dialed 9-1-1, and the next thing I know, I have a nurse helping me walk. Thank God for Cell Phones, or I wouldn't be talking or typing this.
I think the biggest life changing technology is Xbox Live or PSN. The online chat and gameplay is awesome. And the completely obvious one is the INTERNET. I use the internet everyday at least 6 hours a day both at college and at home.
i think they should add things like the introdution of wifi to the cyber world and wide range networking, and items like file sharing software. remote software for the i.t. helper. because without these things email and the internet experience would not be ware it is today. even gaming in a since. adn somthing these things help it to evolve quickly. to set the tone for the future i would look at open source. i think you will see it more and more. as things like linux become better and better.
I'm starting to dislike Chris. His anti-fanboy for Vista.
Its very annoying. Vista isn't bad. It isn't terrible. It isn't horrible. Its working as "intended" with out vista, I doubt there will be Windows 7. (Yes there could, but not the features that we NEEDED because Vista did it wonky. )
"I doubt there will be Windows 7" That got released about a week or two ago. Also people who adopted First Vista back when it was THE Worst pile of garbage that Microsoft made after ME because that is the crap of Microsoft in the 90s.
People still hate Vista because of when it was first released, I still hate it, I couldn't care less of its better now because i wasted £400 on Vista. Chris also had problems with Vista (Look in his videos)

i know what you're getting at, but considering the PS didn't relly add much to gaming, while it is an amazing console when you think about what was available, really it didn't offer much new to gaming, well im not sure if any other consoles had a memory card, or if homebrew was capable on anything before it, since those were the 2 main things about the PS that im not sure were available on previous consoles.
