I take my time and paint the right way. Clean the controller good before painting, spray with lights coats and apply 2-3, leave time to dry before touching the controller.
whered you get those leds I dont know where to get them and have been starting think about taking them frome my remote since they look the same but its a dish remote
You can get it at just about any hardware store: Menard's, Home Depot, Ace Hardware, etc. You will need to grind the sides of the bit down though for the bit to be able to fit in the hole and unscrew the screws.
Looks Awesome 5*, what kind of paint do you have to use for this? and, do you have to open the controller even if you're just gonna paint it w/o the led change?
To open a wireless controller, you need a T6 security bit, T6 stands for Torx 6 if you didn't know. The only problem is that you will need to grind the T6 down a little bit to allow the bit top fit in the hole and get to the screw.
alright thanks man, but i meant like some people paint the whole bar that is attached to the bumper, like the part that goes over the plug and play charger input at the top
Pretty much any color will look good on the controller but if you do a combination, make sure the colors go well together. Also I would suggest getting paint for plastic, it comes out a lot better with this.
If you want a color that no one has seen, you can go to an autozone or just an auto shop and look at their auto paint and they usually have good colors.
Usually, I don't prime it. I will usually use just special paint for plastic like Krylon Fusion, which you can get from Walmart. Or just look for paint that says "Paint For Plastic" on the can, I think that Rustoleum makes one too. Otherwise what I did with the orange controller was just clean it very goods and give it like 2-3 coats of the acrylic paint but make sure you give it time to dry fully in between coats.
You have to take apart the controller and then use a soldering iron to take out the tiny almost microscopic smd led's and then solder new ones in. You have to know how to solder pretty good to do this. If you really want to, look it up on google and i'm sure you can find a tutorial.

Spray paint right? I'm pretty sure it is, but making sure. What do you set it on to not smudge the paint while its drying?
ieatNOOBSlol 3 years ago
Yes, I spray it on a piece of cardboard and let it dry on that too.

a man how did you change the led to white instead of green?
Sincerejones05 3 years ago
You have to desolder the green LED and then solder in the white one.
soccerstrikrmw17 3 years ago
hey man, thats pretty amazing, but im pretty new to painting controllers... any tips that will help me not mess anything up...
also, how did you just paint the bumper... like in some videos i see that people paint the whole bar instead of just the bumpers
MicroMighty 3 years ago
I painted the whole bumper. 2 tips) 1: Use paint for plastic and 2: make sure you let it dry plenty before hadling it.
soccerstrikrmw17 3 years ago
alright thanks man, but i meant like some people paint the whole bar that is attached to the bumper, like the part that goes over the plug and play charger input at the top

You don't have to paint all of it, just make sure the part that you see is fully painted.
