This is completely incorrect. To accurately record this, you need a sound card with proper OPL3 FM Synthesis support. It doesn't sound right on PCM devices, Microsoft synth included.
I have an old Gateway 550 at a friends house with a Crystal CS-4235 ISA sound chip in it, which provides an FM synthesizer in Windows. I can record it when I get it back from him.
Also note if you have and older PC with FM synthesis: ESS sound chips that support FM seem to use a different set of patches than everything else and sound a bit different as a result.

I had a card that was able to reproduce MIDI music well, todays sound cards cant do that
