its so sad how his debut solo album is so under appreciated. Layla & Other Assorted Love Songs and Eric Clapton are my favorite albums of all time. Great music.
So your saying that the Grateful Dead can only be considered as a Complete band and not a jam band also.
Cream eas a Complete band, a rock band, a blues band, a R&B band, the worlds greatest soloists, and a jam band who got Sunshine and White Room onto AM radio in the late 60's DAH
I woudnt put TGD on the same page as Cream..Cream did something that wasnt done before and not since..and they are not a jam band..they are 3 musicians who got together and played music ..respectively Brilliant
You havent a clue they were not a Jam Band they were set up as a Blues Rock band....the did stretch there songs..they did not just go on stage and jam...
I seen there 1st farewell Concert..and I have everything that Eric every recorded and all Bootlegs..you want competition..u got it..have seen Every UK concert he did..Have followed Eric since Yardbird days..and got the Vinyl...so dont thro that at me mate..I appreciate we got that in common..so before you jump of the cliff get facts correct..am even a guitar player of over 42 years standing..
Garcia and Clapton had this in common: at their best, both guitarists were endlessly creative live players. As for technique, Clapton by his own admission is limited, but as for influence, hands down Clapton has more "classics" that every kid who ever picked up a guitar has tried to emulate (even SRV learning crossroads as a kid).
clapton felt very comfy.. around the delta blues scene in 1969-1970... jammin with delaney & bonnie... leon russell... duane allman... rita coolidge and what became known as.. derek and the dominos... made clapton... rocks most versatile musician.. and a great session man.. too
Sorry, jpboonexxvii. You have a point. It's a good song, and I generally enjoy Clapton's music, but after hearing and being so familiar with the New Grass Revival cover of this Clapton song, I was expecting much more.
What an incredible song!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nice touch with the harmonics. The wah-wah work is really good here!!!!!!

I'm just VERY picky and don't get out enough. Living with CFS and Bi-Polar Disorder really does a number on a person's "social life"!
Been going through a real dry spell and it sucks! But that is gonna change soon!! Big time!! Watch out, all you horny bastards!!

Jerry Garcia Band did a great version of this in the 70's. Get your hands on 3-18-78 from Warner Theatre, Wash. DC. Amazing stuff...

This really stinks compared to the version by New Grass Revival on their "Too Late To Turn Back" album.

If you can't say something nice, just shut the fuck up - and Gobo, do likewise.
