  • Delman, pretty please can you help me. I am on P2 VLCD13 and I have only lost 7lbs. My starting weight on 3/15 was 168.8 and I have stalled at 160-161.8 since Sunday 3/20. I have not cheated on the diet. Apple Day, no release. 3 California Kickers, no release. Its discouraging going 1 week with no release. I purchased the Ketone Strips this morning and my test color is in the 40-80mg range so I guess something is happening. Any advice you can give will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

  • @negritaFL If you're using Rx might try skipping a dose tomorrow. I'm still trying to determine what goes on with a stall, if it's just water exchange or something far more beneficial. Wouldn't be too worried, one day soon the dam will break & the losses will continue. The average loss at day 10 VLCD is 6% and you're just 2 lbs shy of that, also I've had people do apple days with delayed reaction - no loss the next day but 3 days later down 2+ lbs. Don't be discouraged, just wait for it.

  • I love how right to the point you are, lol :) I have to tell you, I was up late one night this week and came across one of your videos somewhere on-line, one about mixing hCG with the silver...and you dropped the bottle... :D My husband was asleep in the other room and I had to clasp my hand over my mouth so as to not wake him up while I was laughing. Thank you!!! :) As a newbie I really appreciate the info.

  • what if the stick is practically clear???? does that mean u r not burning any fat?

  • @awwyeahme2 Not at all, depends on the person, hydration & activity level.. I usually run 1/2 way up the stick, a friend was all the way positive & some I've worked with are just slightly into trace - all hitting the 10% loss in 30 days or better.

  • I can believe the water vs results theory..when I drink lots of water I get a trace to low level keytones but when i don't drink as much water I get high levels..makes you wonder..Also the time a day matters..first thing in the morning is the best time I think..I get high levels first thing in the morning vs..mid day..I am losing about 2 pounds a day..started at 179 down to 160..I cheated a couple days which really set me back..bad idea

  • Maybe someone can help me. I find that I do better in heavy ketosis, feel more energy, less hunger, better mood...etc,etc. The problem is I am having a hard time getting my strips to go above a weak or low level of ketones. The times I have felt the best was when I had the strips deep purple. I limit my carbs to less than 5gm a day, limit protein to adequate levels (20%), eat mostly fat. I am kinda stuck with the last 10 lbs (5ft7,160lb). Any suggestions are welcome.

  • @tickyul : I have found by adding in choc d helps makes the keytones go up. I take 3-4 nite w/no problm. Work up to that tho. Or if Im in a hurry/no choc, I take a spoonful of evco and put some sweetner on it and eat it that way. Its kinda like eating the inside of a mounds bar (kinda). Might be discusting to some. Always gets me in the higher range. Im in the 80s now after being in the mild range.

  • Some of things I have observed while following a high fat/low carb diet: The higher the ketosis (within reason, I am non diabetic so dka is not a problem)=the better I feel, less hunger, better sense of well being, more energy, less cravings, to name a few. I have heard people say that if they are in ketosis, the level does not matter, that is definitely NOT the case for me. The ketogenic diet for me is hard at first, it takes me about 3 weeks just to feel normal. I also limit water & protein.

  • Some are saying that if you are showing dark purple that your are dehydrated. Well that might be true, but I for one am drinking a gallon or more a day of purified water and I am buring the darkest purple. And that happens some days, all day long. So go figure. I love the test strips

  • Hey Now! Thank you so much. I bought some homeopathic HCG. Without Your videos and a few others I would still be trashing my body! After 5 days on the vlcd still negative. I ordered the real thing and now have to wait, but it will be much better for me in the long run. Nice Job!! rich714252

  • Just did my keytone strips that I bought a week ago BUT I did it after being more than 2 Liters of hydration ... lol. I tested at the one just above the negative. I believe it is the pink "slight." BUT now after reading all the comments and replies, I will do it first thing in the am tomorrow.

  • My doctor stated that the trace of ketosis should be 5-15 mg. What do you think?

  • Depends on the cals and the person. I typically ran half way up the stick (80mg/dL) but have heard from several people who had it burried to the heavy end.

    Not like anyone needs to get hung up on their ketone level, I like using the sticks mainly as a motivational tool during stalls or when doing dietary substitutions... so even when the scale isn't moving you can see you're still burning fat. And the test can flux greatly based on hydration level.

    so if you are drinking plenty of water you might not register that high? I'm at the 40 mg/dl level and loosing about a pound a day.

  • Right - there's a dilutive effect if well hydrated. Kind of like a cup of bleach in a gallon of water vs. that same cup poured into a swimming pool... it's the same amount of bleach (or in this case ketone bodies) just registers differently depending on hydration level.

    You want to remain very well hydrated - is more important than your position on the stix. Congrats on your loss.

  • Great info, thanks for that delmem. Do you know when it is possible to spot ketosis in the urine while on hCG? Im currently on my third day, and the color is refering to negative, very weird? :-(

  • On the hCG I was showing trace the 1st evening of the VLCD (3rd day of hCG) the rest of the time small to 80mg/dL. My female friend began testing + the 2nd day on VLCD, but went 80mg/dL every day after.

    Most people test positive on the Atkin's diet by day 5 or 6, would think you should see results before then on the hCG. Best of luck.

  • Thanks for the quick answer! Okay so that means i should actually have a trace as we speak, but the thing is i don't :-(.. When you say trace, does that mean very very small color change from negative and towards the changing colors? My color right now, is SLIGHTLY more dark than "negative" on the Ketostix colortable, but i dont know if it counts! It's nearly not even a change from "negative", but still seems a bit different.

    Otherwise, you know if it could mean a dead hCG kit???

  • Usually a little pinkish from neg towards slight - haven't heard of anyone receiving bad hCG yet... the stix tend to lose their effectiveness after being open a few months.

    If you're doing the 500 cals and aren't hungry - I'd say the hCG is probably okay.

    Hang in there for 3 or 4 more days, check for ketones 1st thing in the morning. Maybe you're just slow to start but once you get there, shouldn't have any problems riding the ketone wave. Let me know when you see some purple!

  • Okay, i must evaluate over these next days, thanks mate! The first time i tried the Ketostix was after work at night so definitely not morningurine ;-) the stix are brand new though.

    Hmm, its hard for me to judge the hungryness thingy on hCG! When you take hCG, is your hunger then totally surpressed, meaning no hunger at all, or can you feel a slight hungerfeeling during the day? Must say, i am not that hungry as im used to!

  • Most I've worked with feel a little hunger the 1st few days, then usually no hunger for a week or 2, then usually don't even feel the need to eat the whole 500 cals and might skip a breadstick or apple for the day.

    I think the 1st week - for most of us it's just the habit of reaching for something vs. a real feeling of hunger. But that goes away pretty quickly.

  • what kind of body products did u use while on hcg- body wash, deodorants , body lotions etc

  • And remember guys..the darker the colour doesnt necessarily mean your burning more fat, just as long as its pinkish it all good. If its real dark it just means u need to up your water intake :-D

  • No problem. I have a lb to lb scale, which doesn't always move - but as long as the stix keep turning pinkish purple I know I'm progressing, also if you try different food exchanges within the program you can gauge which slow down your momentum, which help you burn.
