Why would a writer use a 6x9 Japanese style art book to write in?

I don't know which is worse... that I think the only answer to that question is "to be pretentious"... or that this makes me want to get a large Japanese style Moleskine to write in.

Well, that definitely made me happy. Currently reading the ms of the third volume of Your Face Tomorrow, and I think it's one the most important, and brilliant, pieces of contemporary fiction.
