it's funny im reading all the negative comments about pitbulls, i have one myself and out of all the dogs that my family has, mine is the most gentle and least vicious. i would trust my child with my dog but not the other ones. my brothers golden retriever killed a small dog, and my other brother's st bernard and the "mutt" repeatedly gang up on my sweet heart. it just shows it's how you train them.

Yes pit bull types are ban in england. Did it help. no the dog attack just change breed. I have friends over there that have said all the ban did was make the bad guys turn and ruin other breeds. Maybe you will not believe me but some dogs breedings are done to create very dangerous dogs, Its not always the owners fold. These dogs are selected to give pups with incredible agression. The guy I knew bred dogs for very rich people; In the day the dogs on chains and at night the were let go, and I dont ly but those dogs were not trained, but iff someone enterd the place the dogs just killed them. At morning sto put them back on the chanes they used very hard protection to not get bitten.
It's not necessarily 'training'. It sounds like those dogs were not socialized at ALL. Having them on chains, or roaming the yard at night, obviously will not give them the socialization they need to be a normal dog. A well-owned pit bull will get to leave his home for walks and outings, meet other people and dogs, and be a friendly and submissive pet. The dogs you are talking about don't sound like any effort was put in to make them appropriate household pets.

Look up the old champions. They came from Ireland. Indeed the pitbull has irish blood. You are right though. The European dogs are much smaller. My dog weight 45 lbs. Is a taught little beast and full of muscle. She looks a lot like the colby pits.

An effort to breed away dog aggression in the AST has removed some but not all of the trait.. my boy comes from the Tyson line in usa and after 8 years has only been attacked and never attacked, being a responsible owner and 1 who loves their dog and not how tough people think I am because my dog is,its the showoffs and cruel owners giving our dogs a bad name. But they only bite when raised to, or hit. Pitbulls unlike other dogs when hit remember it and get more aggresive everytime. But no one should be hitting there dog so they are innocent

I have been bitten by a shiba inu, toy manchester, poodles, and a german shphard but never ever by a pitbull. Its bad owners who teach them how to hurt people or other animals. My pit loved cats and my other dogs.

stoneroses13 attacks that happen from dogs of all breeds are all preventable, it is always the child & dog that fall victim 4 irresponsible owners & parents, common seance along with a trained dog and very importantly a child who understands how 2 behave around animals go's a long way, lack of knowledge & irresponsible owners is the cause of attacks and just to add if you do some research on pit bulls they are the most stable breed considered 2 be around children its the upbringing that counts.

my male just recently died at the age of 20 and i miss him very much but he had a very good life. I have a 10 year old female and a 7 week old blue pitbull puppy thats very energetic. i never had any problems with any of my dogs. don't pay any attention to these asshole because they're complete idiots. your dogs are beautiful and keep up the good work.
I have an adba dog and a amstaff,and the adba dag is by far the steadier animal.
Of course we've had kate since she was a tiny pup. Loni came to us as a rescue that couldn't stay in her foster home because the womens golden retriever would not tolerate her!

Yes pit bull types are ban in england. Did it help. no the dog attack just change breed. I have friends over there that have said all the ban did was make the bad guys turn and ruin other breeds. It is not the dogs that laws should be past aginst but the owners who train them or not train them into being the bad breed. You can take any breed and turn them into monsters. Maybe you will not believe me but some dogs breedings are done to create very dangerous dogs, Its not always the owners fold. These dogs are selected to give pups with incredible agression. The guy I knew bred dogs for very rich people; In the day the dogs on chains and at night the were let go, and I dont ly but those dogs were not trained, but iff someone enterd the place the dogs just killed them. At morning sto put them back on the chanes they used very hard protection to not get bitten.

It's not necessarily 'training'. It sounds like those dogs were not socialized at ALL. Having them on chains, or roaming the yard at night, obviously will not give them the socialization they need to be a normal dog. A well-owned pit bull will get to leave his home for walks and outings, meet other people and dogs, and be a friendly and submissive pet. The dogs you are talking about don't sound like any effort was put in to make them appropriate household pets.

Look up the old champions. They came from Ireland. Indeed the pitbull has irish blood. You are right though. The European dogs are much smaller. My dog weight 45 lbs. Is a taught little beast and full of muscle. She looks a lot like the colby pits.

The old champs were not Pits they wer more akin to staffys pits are a realitivly new breed from usa. They used to cross irish staffys and english bull terriers for fighting so thats maybe were the image came frm crossing those 2 does create a pit type look but theyre stir crazy genes dont mix well at all in terms of temperment. Do remember staffys vary alot thers 2 strains long and short leged various crosses of these may look like a pit hence all the dogs getin lifted nowadays that r nt pits.

Yes they most certainly have got Irish roots as far as Colby lines go, jp Colby started his line getting his dogs when he was just a kid in the 1800s from the Irish emigrants that brought their dogs with them to America.

dude seriously the pit bull is the only breed that has not changed in appearance and the reason for that is because they were not recognized as a breed even though they HAVE been around longer than most breeds,there are different blood lines involved with pit bulls hence the different size and looks, and you will notice that breeds that have been recognized are the breeds that have changed dramatically over the years with health problems ect,, the pit bull does have a standard Google it.

Now days everything is called a pit bull that looks bullish and I think it is an effort to eradicate the apbt... It really seems that the only people who love the apbt are the ones that own one.. @MrSafetymeeting actually an apbt from the Colby line was chosen as a standard for the American Staffordshire Terrier , thus they are the same breed .. An effort to breed away dog aggression in the AST has removed some but not all of the trait.. They just need good training from a puppy and once in a while you will still get a wild one...lol... that does not need to be bred or allowed off leash

My wife and I adopted a Staffordshire Bull Terrier from a shelter when she was 9 weeks old.
The attendant told us he doubted anyone would take her due to the bad press pits were getting, and she would most likely be destroyed.
That was four years ago and Trudi is most loyal, sweet and loving dog we have ever had.
Powerful yes, but a fantastic friend we love greatly.

It is TRUE that pit bulls are strong and powerful dogs; however is it NOT in their nature to harm humans any more than any other dog unless they are trained to do so or abused. I love my pit and she is everything that every other dog that I have owned has been and more. There is far, FAR too much DISinformation and MISinformation about them. I'm getting a staffordshire bull terrier pretty soon, and it's been a crap time trying to convince family members that these dogs arent murderous monsters. Media has really screwed these sweet little dogs over in a huge way.
And what flores936 said is absolutely true. If they start banning, people will just move on to a different race. And there are tons to pick from. they ban pittbulls..everyone got an amstaff/staffy/mastiff, they ban those, bad people will get boxers and whatnot.. no use.

I love pitbulls, I actaully plan on buying one when I get my own place. Every animal can be dangerous, the only difference about pitbulls is that they have a lock jaw. But they only bite when raised to, or hit. Pitbulls unlike other dogs when hit remember it and get more aggresive everytime. But no one should be hitting there dog so they are innocent

Please do not EVER get an APBT until you do some research on the breed. They do NOT have a locking jaw. if you ask me,them miniature breeds are the worse when it comes to attacking humans. german shepherds and dobermans are the larger breeds thats most likely to attack a human. pitbulls, for the most part are great around humans, especially kids.

I have been bitten by a shiba inu, toy manchester, poodles, and a german shphard but never ever by a pitbull. Its bad owners who teach them how to hurt people or other animals. My pit loved cats and my other dogs.

stoneroses13 attacks that happen from dogs of all breeds are all preventable, it is always the child & dog that fall victim 4 irresponsible owners & parents, common seance along with a trained dog and very importantly a child who understands how 2 behave around animals go's a long way, lack of knowledge & irresponsible owners is the cause of attacks and just to add if you do some research on pit bulls they are the most stable breed considered 2 be around children its the upbringing that counts.

my male just recently died at the age of 20 and i miss him very much but he had a very good life. I have a 10 year old female and a 7 week old blue pitbull puppy thats very energetic. i never had any problems with any of my dogs. don't pay any attention to these asshole because they're complete idiots. your dogs are beautiful and keep up the good work.

I have an adba dog and a amstaff,and the adba dag is by far the steadier animal.
Of course we've had kate since she was a tiny pup. Loni came to us as a rescue that couldn't stay in her foster home because the womens golden retriever would not tolerate her!
Kate has been an angel with this young dog.
