The mW is just the output power, but what really matters is that quality of the laser and the storm series have been proven to be the best hand held quality lasers in the world.

mW stands for milliwatt, a measure of energy. nm stands for nanometer, a measure of length. In lasers, mW is used as a unit to describe the power of lasers. Basically the higher the power, the brighter the dot and beam will be. Also, with more power comes more burning capability. nm refers to the wavelength of the laser. Wavelength can basically be thought of as a very specific color.

the green lasers today are DPSS(diode pumped solit state) lasers and can by built powerfull or not.

But to the human eye green is the most visible and appears much brighter then

blue or red. So an 5mw green lasers looks like an 50mw or so..

I once saw a test with 3 lasers with the same power...and indeed the green one

was mucht brighter.

But they can make from each color powerfull lasers.

besides, DX greenies do NOT have IR filters on them, of which can ruin your retinas. those lasers hardly output 200mw of 532nm.. a significant chunk of that power is in the form of 808nm and 1064nm IR.
