to me, deactivating a weapon is like neutering a pet. it renders it useless of what God intended it to do. when the police came around and said to people in the UK, you must either deactivate or destroy your now-illegal wepaons, gun lovers must have made a similar decision to either kill (destroy) or Neuter (deactivate) their pet. no one wants to make their wepon / pet defunct. but saying that, wouldn't you prefer a neutered pet, to a dead one?
@southparkcolts Hi, No, this particular one does not, most places selling them should say if they can be strpped down though, but may cost alot more than this one.
Because of our BATFE, you need a deactivated that contains a dummy receiver, real receivers are treated as fire-arms, regardless of the ability of it to operate or not.
Better off buying a semi-auto A.K. and enjoying it's function with live rounds down range.
well why we cant get deactivated guns is cuz we can make them back 2 full auto with parts which we can buy. once a sub machine gun allways a machine gun
i have a 1944 deactivated bren cocks and dry fires ... 12 and a half kilos of cool .. i live in the u.k it is for sale . i also have an underfolder ak47 ( deactivated )
Worldwide Arms Ltd, in my experience, sell poor condition weapons - but this this looks excellent!
Good luck with the sight - that must hurt. If you carefully remove the split pin in the middle of the drum, it'll dismantle and you should be able to replace the sight bar - or at least remove it so that it can be repaired. This is legal.
'Phone around the militaria shops - someone's bound to have a spare rearsight bar. If you're worried about the repair, take the parts to a registered dealer.
Probably a Bren Mk1m and/or a bastardised, knackered wpn. Most Brens seen for sale these days are.
Cheapest D/A Bren I've seen was £120 - a very worn but correct Mk1. Nasty spot weld on the side to keep the barrel permanently fixed - that could have been done on the INSIDE of the body... Pity.
Has it been scrapped? I never had ANY problems with the wpn. Not a single stoppage in years' of use. Admittedly, I never used it in the desert or Arctic.
When are these babies going to find their way onto the D/A market? :-)
The L86 LSW was replaced because when the SA80 (L85A1) was reworked by Heckler & Koch into the L85A2. Old SA80s were either binned or rebuilt to A2 standard. The L86A1 is mechanically identical to the SA80 & the FN Minimi replaced it due to better reliability & its rather handy dual feed system. It can take belt feed or 30rd NATO/M16 type magazines. The Bren is still a great weapon though, do you know that 7.62mm converted Brens saw service in the gulf war?
If you can re-machine these parts, you can build a Gun from raw steel. Even with fully operational spare parts somehow acquired, the re-activating of a Gun like this would be hard work.
It's much easier buying a smuggled wpn from the continent.
It's a myth that D/As can be easily re-activated. The only people who actually could would already have an identical weapon but in a firing state.
just incase you havnt got round to fixing the sight...there is one for sale on ebay at the moment
