  • I have a Shooters Ridge 25RD for my Remington 597 and it SUCKS!!!!! Jam Jam Jam!!!!!!!!

    Bad Bad Bad Quality!!!!!!

  • my FACTORY marlin magazine only cycles well when I load only 5 instead of 10 rounds. If I load it full (10 rounds) it jams frequently :(

  • @iloveNgany Got the same Problem!

  • its funny some websites offer a trouble shooting guide for this magazine. I bought one knowing it was going to be crap but I really wanted a higher capacity magazine but had no expectations for it. After a bunch of jams and sanding the thing down and carving some parts out with a pocket knife I feel like it works ok but only with certain rounds hahaha. I definitely wouldnt rely on this mag for anything. Marlin really needs to come out with a high capacity magazine for this gun already!

  • @MrReviewify has been Owned and rendered inoperable!

  • hey nutnfancy do u know where i can get 20 round magazines for my savage 64 .22lr?

  • Maybe move up to a bigger caliber?

  • @BruceJBCpaintball pack/survival rifle, .22LR is fine.

  • @GraysCreekMilitia For small game hunting yes, but when it comes to other things and survival I would want something that has more stopping power but that's just my preference.

  • wtf! damn my mag just got here, i put it in my gun and when i went to shoot it jamed, then when i took the mag out ( for the first time) it fell apart, ima try to glue it or somtin...

  • Aww crap I just ordered one of the shooters ridge mags for my ruger 10/22 and then watched this video I hope it doesn't suck but if it does it's going right back lol

  • It still gets me when that mag comes apart haha. The sound it makes and the way they scatter. Gets me every time

  • @MrReviewify first off these arent 'clips' they are called magazines, if you dont know that then you already lose whatever argument you were starting. If you saw a video of someone shooting 17 of these, remember that it was a video, could have been edited to make them appear to be great. Do not badmouth Nutnfancy just cause he is giving HIS own review/opinion of an item, he even says himself that he may be wrong, but by what he is using and testing, it sucks..your experience may vary

  • @MrReviewify kid, you have clearly no idea what youre talking about. these magazines are straight up garbage. the construction is horrid, and thats the reason why they're so bad.

  • @MrReviewify You've "seen tons of videos"? Whelp, that proves it. *yawn* -- Veri

  • @nutnfancy just laugh out loud.....

  • @MrReviewify Nope...

  • @MrReviewify I knew you had no idea what you were talking about when you called them "Clips" 3 times.

  • I've actually heard some people having really good stuff to say about these hi-cap mags AS LONG AS you use CCI Blazers. Federal bulk doesn't work for some reason.

  • Comment removed

  • At 7:25 can you tell me what target you are using? Saw one that looked similar to the one on this video on Amazon but the reviews were real bad. What brand / model is yours and does it work reliably flipping with each hit?

  • The shooters ridge 50 rd mag for the 10/22 rocks!

  • the only solution i found is to insert the mag, cock it, remove the mag that work for me

that so boring when you shoot: 1 fire 2 fire 3 jam 4 fire 5 jam

i've check the extractor look fine not bend

put a round int the chamber no problem

i open the bolt and look what i found:THE BULLET STILL ON THE BOLT WHAT WRONG WITH THIS RIFLE

  • thwy make a 15 rounder at sportsmans guide

  • Just from what I see from the video I think the problem lies in the design. You have a "banana" style mag designed to fit in a gun with a standard box mag. The rounds curl through out the body of the mag and then met a point where they need to feed straight on, this can cause some hiccups. My very first 10/22 (1994) had the same problem with a 20 rounder. It was resolved when my dad bought me a different brand mag. If the rounds in the Shooter creek fed more evenly I bet it would work good.

  • Hey Nutnfancy you arfe wrong, Marlin did make a hicap magazine from the factory it is from an uncommon variant of the model 70 (the precursor to the 795) called the model 70HC it came with i think a 25 round mag stock. That said they are stupidly rare and expensive if you do find one.

  • SEND THEM BACK!!! I dont care if they sat no..Thats b.s..Well good to know that I wont be purchasing a Marlin...Shame on MArlin in the first place..I am here because I am in the market for an s/a 22lr rifle...I always look to nutnfancys reviews when I'm in the market..Well Remington 597 here I come.

  • @runninonempiy Why shame on Marlin? The rifle is good. Shame on the 3rd party manufacturer for producing crap-quality mags

  • @zma924 I said Shame on them in the first place....Because the do nt make a 30 round mag...Enough said!

  • CAESAR SAY NO!!!!

  • At least Shooter's Ridge is consistent, their 10/22 mags suck as well.

  • This is the funniest video clip in all of TNP.

  • I don't buy Amerikan products anymore. Ever heard of Affirmative Action? Thanks but I'll give my business to the best guy for the job, and that doesn't happen in Amerika anymore.

  • do u ever use ironsights

  • I can hardly believe this ever made it to market. Good grief. Your patience and sense of humour about it is admirable, to be sure.

  • I've had the same problems with these mags in my 10/22. I was using bulk Federal and had a jam every 4-5 rounds. I didn't even get through two mags before I gave up and went back to my factory mags.

I have two Shooters Ridge mags for sale! haha.

  • Give that to Americas funniest home videos

  • IMHO when a company puts there name on a product and it fails to meet the users expectations in quality and performance (most of the time) to me is says the the company is not worth looking at again in future purchases. Thanks for the info Nutn.

  • how you managed not to throw the thing in the air and make dust of it with a shotgun is a great representation of your comitment

  • I have had a Shooter's Ridge magazine for about 6 months now. I have had no trouble with it. I just blew up a Butler Creek with my Arsenal AK due to the trouble I had with it. I guess maybe it is a regional thing. I am going to try the new Ruger 25 round magazine next. I have not tried them on a Marlin.

  • That mag looks like a piece of crap!

I'll stick with the 10. These videos are invaluable to me!

  • I admire your patience with those magazines. I would have switched to the 10 rounders and started using the shooter's ridge mags as targets.

  • "Dude..these are crap" Classic

  • Nutnfancy, THANK YOU FOR ALL OF YOUR PATIENCE!!!! I wanted to start cursing just watching let alone actually going through what you went through. We appreciate all you do. I've long since used your reviews before I purchase. THANK YOU.

  • Shooters ridge just became SHITERS ridge.... Do you think that they might have thought to QA these mags before selling them to Joe public???

Once again Nutn telling it as it is, top work brother, i too would have lost my rag with them long before the one that just fell apart ( i laughed out load at that part!)

Keep the vids coming Nutn, you rock sir.

  • What I noticed is when you shoot. The mag moves around from up to down.It seems to be floating while shooting.NOT GOOD.I think by seeing this that Shooters Ridge needs to fix the lips of the mag for a tighter fit or maybe the allignment on the feed. And maybe because it is plastic it is floating while chambering too.And when you popped of the top of it ,it also seemed the spring might be week too.Sure wished it worked though.I have one and would love to get a high capacity mag for it too..Thanks.

  • Even a 10 rounder jams for me on my Marlin 795.

  • Haha... what a piece of ****! Thanks for the heads up Nutn. I knew it was going to be really bad; you don’t release video on poor products unless you get really ticked. Keep'm coming, I’m listening!

  • Fun fact, Shooters Ridge mags are the replacement for the now being discontinued Ram-Line Mags. Info comes from the Ram-Line website. Maybe thats why the mag sucks?

  • great clown music! Hilarious! Clown situation.

  • Hey Nutn'...Top shelf video as always, but I'm going to have to nominate it for Funniest Gear Review of 2011! haha For me, it was the circus music that really made it great! Combine the goofy cartoon nature of the tune with the incredulity of that mag spewing bullets & parts everywhere...that was just TOO damned funny! Butler Creek mags w/metal lips have worked well for me. I am going to have to check out the Marlin rifles though, just running the 10-22 here. Maybe I've been missing out ;-)

  • Just ordered this mag and am sending it right back after watching this review, thanks for sharing!

  • Wow thats just annoying

  • At exactly 6:33 you can see that as you are using the curved mag as a point of anchor (dunno the correct term), the mag jumps about a 1/4 inch down and then the next trigger pull fails. Just something I saw. Thanks for the video as always fancypants.

  • priceless.

  • I saw these mags a few months ago and was going to pick a few up. Thanks for saving my money nutn

  • Looks like the "Good Idea" Fairy struck again.

  • Love all the vids, "keepin' it real."

  • i hope that you were "GIVEN" those mags and that you didnt waste your money on those. if you did, i am so sorry. and props to your selfcontrol i am with the jaymanx111 on that

  • 27 people are embarrassed because they recommended the magazine

  • Dude...best review EVER...tellin' it like it is! And the look on your face when that mag lets loose and the rounds start spraying all over...priceless! Nice job, as always!

  • I'm not a gun owner, though I do wish to be. I'm not a gun expert, but hope to be. But I have fired several weapons, semi autos and others with magazine feeds and that magazine just looks like total garbage. The cheap looking plastic is the biggest thing that almost screams poor quality.

  • seems like you spent more time clearing jams than shooting. ridiculously unreliable mags.

  • You should spray-paint those mags orange or something and use them as targets.

  • all i can say is kudos for putting about 1200 rounds through that fuckin piece of shit

  • Geez, you would of thought they'd test that kind of thing before they sold them.

  • Nutnfancy probably put this guys out of business :) and rightfully so!

  • I have a pair of CZ's, the old model 452Lux and a 17HMR American. They don't offer metal magazines at a capacity higher than 5, So I'm fine with that. I don't trust after market magazines that do not come from the company nor plastic magazines. Just my .02 on plastic garbage.

  • I purchased a Shooters Ridge Ruger 10/22 25rd magazine for my AMT 25/22 Lightning at Cabellas for $30. After nearly 1,500 rounds, it still works and functions perfect. I know the magazine is designed for the Ruger, and maybe it fails in them, but for my AMT, it's gravy, and the magazines for the Ruger are identical and interchangeable with the AMT. I however do agree with the review. FTF's & FTE's every 3 rounds? Totally rediculous for an American made product.

  • 9:05 minute mark was hilarious Nutn, LoL. Like you suggest, I wish Marlin would manufacture their own higher capacity factory mags, they rock.

  • ps i have shot thousands of rounds through my marlin 700( west coast variant of the 70 with a gold trigger) and maybe 5 FTE's thats it. Never a FTF or anything else and all the FTE's i had were a couple hundred rounds into shooting with no cleaning. This is my favorite low caliber rifle hands down. No offense to you 10/22 guys but the weight difference is what i require in the woods.

  • oh Nutn if i had just heard this review before i bought this mag. I bought one ( low budget cant afford many), to try it out. I heard they were ammo picky, sooooo i bought all the different ammo types i could and not only did i get FTF FTE Stovepipes and PINCHED IN HALF AMMO WEDGED INTO THE MAG, it also felt cheap and every review i can find says a good one is rare.SHOOTERS RIDGE PLEASE MAKE A METAL LIPPED MAG LIKE THE ONE FOR THE RUGER. Thanks nutun for keeping us informed

  • I can see where you are really sad with this. I know how much you love the 795 and how good it is. I know because I have a model 60, and dearly dearly love it. It is too bad that Marlin hasn't come out with a higher capacity mag, or even SR improve the one they have now, because it would make it that much better.

  • True these may not be good mags, But if your looking for a higher round mag for this rifle now you have one. Yes they may be cheaply mad but let them get to the 2nd run of these now that people are buying them and they know what more specifically they need to fix. Yes they don't work well now but give them time like all new things. M-16 to M-16A1 much better NVG to PVS4's for example.

  • You didn't even press the magazine release when you ripped the mag out and the rounds went everywhere....

  • Luckily I followed the excellent advice of TNP, bought my first gun, a SIG-522 for my 40th, with a spare SIG mag and two spare Black Dog Machine mags. 1200 rounds shot in one week, mostly Federal and Remington bulk ammo. Not a single hiccup! A joy to shoot & a dream come true. Thank you Nutn', your advice was worth gold brother, I owe you one. Cheers mate. DeepEye.

  • This video takes me back about 20 years. My brother purchased an intertec 22. Great plinking gun, but the magazines, oi! What a headache. We never could find a good shooting magazine. Hmm, wonder whatever became of the gun?

  • Its called a malfunction. Jam is something you put on toast.

  • I don't like shooters ridge period

  • TAPCO where are you?!?!?! lol

    man, what a dissapointment

  • I wouldnt even try... I mean look at them theyre clear bloody plastic! like a cheap ass airsoft gun

  • People* fml and swype text

  • I am so glad that you do what you do. If I encounterd that, would throw it away and think " oh well, what can I do"..... But uu get out there and show oriole how it realy is.

  • I'm so glad that you do what u do. Because some one like me would just their it out and move one, and think " what can I do about it " but you show every one what's going on!!!!!!!!!!

  • so whens the review of the p07 coming? looking forward to that one

  • Looks like you got more ammo on the ground from jams than down range! I think it is invaluable for a manufacture to see an honest review that way they can see how bad a design the product has turned out. So often I see manufactures that have put a ton of time and money into a design just to put it on the market and have it trashed. This is not because the (in some cases) the makes sucks but because they are just too close to see the flaws. They can take this review and do a re-design. Great job!

  • Usually these things suck.

    For 3 reasons:

1: New rifles with no slop in the action have a tough time with high cap mags.

2: Poor quality control. Shooters ridge and promag make crap 90% of the time.

3: Most of the ammo out there for 22lr is hollow point, and well, in new guns, HP ammo cycles poorly even with factory mags. And round nose ammo is hard to come by. (in my experience)

  • @TheAngryvikingman

Also, the springs could be under/over powered. Best by far are the butler creek steel lipped mags. PLASTIC ARE CRAP.

  • Nuntn, Would it had made a difference if you were shooting the intended rifle (594)? Noticed you were shooting something different. Regret I'm not familiar with either weapon.

  • Maybe if you bought a real gun you wouldn't have any problems.

  • End up killing yourself with that magazine.

  • I had a similar problem with the Ruger Mini-30. I love the Mini-14, but the mini-30 would only feed from the factory 5 round mag. I’m not sayin’, I’m just sayin’ “Junk!”

  • Hi. Yes nutnfancy this is what all off us who have shot alott 22 semi strugling with.

It is so frustating to buy magazines that just dont work. Sometimes with the same brand one work well and another dont. Hope you find some brand to the Marlin you will recomend. Keep up the good work !!!

  • Is that a CZ PO7 Duty in the holster?

  • @7:24 Nutnfancy was taking those targets down fast! LOL! Good shooting Nutnfancy!

  • I won't be buying any of these magazines then, I thought they looked kind of cheap.

  • My shooters ridge 10/22 mag does the same thing........ absolute junk.

  • I have the marlin 795 with a barska scope on it and really love this gun.I also bought the shooters ridge mag. When I first got it it hung up all the time, did some work on it and it shoot great.....but this what happens when they make crap out of plastic......I dont understand why marlin dont come up with a all steel 25-30 round mag.

  • I love the (what I call) "TNP circus" music you played toward the end of this vid, and in other vids, such as the one where slam got stuck. I name my vehicles too, by the way. My truck is named "Chupathingy".

  • thats way i dont touch plastic mags

  • i like the tublar magazines i have a 981t with tublar magazine i wont buy a 22 or 22 mag without a tublar magizine u just load it up b4 the hunt and ur good to go no carying extra bullets or magazines capisity: 22long rifle 17 22long 20 22short 25

  • what scope you have on that? cant decide what to put on my kids 10/22

  • ill stick with my ruger 22 ty.....the marlin looks like a nice rifle though

  • Frankly, sir, I am just totally impressed with your self-control. I have to admit that if I had been testing / evaluating mags and had jam after jam and had to repeatedly dig the damn mag out with a SAK, I would NOT have said "Dang it!" and carried on as you did. I regret to admit I would have probably turned the air blue with curses and scattered pieces of plastic all over the landscape.

Love your channel and your work. Keep it up.

  • Just when u thought it couldn't get any worse, behold 9:03

  • I was frustrated by just watching the vid.

  • Your absolutely right about some of these mags. The one 20 rd. I got for my Remington 22 and it was the worst design I have ever used. They need a new WORKABLE spring type. the stupid coiled spring steel failed right out of the package. ABSOLUTELY would never buy again. Thanks for the update on ones for other rifles buddy. Talk to you soon man. TNPer DIRTY"mag man"SANCHEZ

  • 9:00 for the mag falling apart.

  • Hey Nutn wondering if youve tried cabellas euro scopes out yet they have a 60 day trial period no questions asked return.

  • Hey nutn could you do a review on the bushmaster carbon 15. I know talk about how weight matters and this is one of the lightest ar platforms out kinda wondering what you think of it

  • Wow that does not look fun with all those jams.

  • i can also vouch for the crummy quality of these mags. waste of money and time!

  • I had the same exact problem with their 10/22 30rnd mags! Poor quality mags...

  • Wow, what a pos. I'm just waiting for the person that said you needed to sand the lips of this magazine to make it work, now tell us that we need to super glue and duct tape it up to repair it too! lol.

By the way, that was some great shooting when that mag. did work Nutnfancy. We have the same metal 22 "practice target tree"...And honestly I could not do what you did...if my life depended on it. Apparently I need a lot more practice!

  • I was with my dad at a gun show, he asked witch one I'd rather have a Mariln 795 or a ruger 10/22........I'm so glad I picked the 10/22

  • 9:04, oh, my freakin gosh. i can't believe that.

  • i carry my Swiss army knife everyday. even when i don't have a defensive tool (for whatever stupid reason) i have my Swiss army knife.

  • I have never seen a magazine self-destruct like that... priceless!

  • dear nutnfancy i love your videos i have some shooting videos the channel name is smartsafekid. , p.s. 2:01 is that the issc 22.

  • Under these circumstances, most people (in my opinion) would not have posted this video, for various reasons. Not NUTNFANCY! He is the real deal. He shows us what is good and what is a POS, no matter how stupid some people may think this video is. I love this video because I have a Marlin 795SS and I want some GREAT mags for it! ! ! ! Thanks for the heads up Nutn.

  • Product testing? Nah! Just send it to market. How bad can it be?

  • What a failure magazine :O i'm shocked.

  • "That pretty much blows" lol

  • ok thanks for the headups man, thats a no go

  • You obviously put this vid in the wrong category, it should be in comedy...especially the last past (9:05) made me laugh so hard!^^

  • Comment removed

  • same problems man. I had one just shatter when i bumped it on the range table.

  • This gun must be Jamaican because it be JAMMIN'!

  • I think I just stick to the ten rounders.

  • This is why I'm on the 10/22 camp. Even Ruger started making 25 rounders.

  • That thing does NOT deserve a Nutn whip sound! What a disappointing product.

  • I'm frustrated just watching it, couldn't even imagine trying to clear all those jams.

  • my question is how could a company spend all that time and buying machines to make magazines that don't even work? do they even try them before they sell them? that's disappointing that an American made manufacture will even make this product to a level that you can't even use it...

  • hey nutn i have a remington 20 guage and i was shottin oneday and it shot once then jammed i got that 1 undone and jack another one in the chamber and put the one i got out back in the plug and now it wont shoot or the bolt wont open and the saftey is in the middle where you can see the black and the red and wont go either way.do you have any idea how to get it un jammed.

    -thx

  • A .22 spew! Thanks for the slo-mo replay...That was just poetic fail funny!

  • I'd rather than a reliable 10-rounder than a failure-prone 25er.

  • @NGMonocrom Lols, but look on the bright side least it a quick magazine unload feature.

  • Wow....what garbage.....they look like 1$store toys.

  • True pieces of sh*t, thanks for the warning friend...TNP rocks.

  • How does something like this even make it to production?

  • The mags look like they were made for a toy not a real firearm. What a joke. Is all that Shooter's Ridge makes or sells crap?

  • Gee, those were some really bad jams. Good work on getting that all on video.

  • That's why I choose Ruger and Butler Creek Mags. Never a problem.

  • 9:05 LOL...

  • lol the look on your face durring the slow motion when the mag fell apart was priceless hahaa any luck on getting a refund or are you even going to bother?

  • nutn you legend great videos, hows allie going

    check my channel stusf12

  • You could have shot and reloaded the factory mags faster than shooting those pos.

  • What a beautiful place to shoot. Wish I had a venue like that.

  • Soooooo ....? don' t buy these mags then...? jk what a pile o sh*t !!!

That plastic looks like the crap they make Tic Tac mint boxes out of.

    thanks for the review nutn.

  • i think I would have thrown those down and stomped them very disappointing in an AMERICAN company.

  • Did the manufacturer have anything to say about the quality of there mags?

  • i commend you for your patience.. i know what i would have done to those magazines.... break them into many pieces!! definitely..

  • shooters ridge mag + victorinox = unstopable team hahahahahahhaha

  • lol at the mag exploding on him

  • Great review. I'm glad you tried more than one magazine. A lot of "reviews" try a single example of something & when it doesn't work all are deemed junk. It doesn't matter that any manufacturer can make a bum piece from time to time. As long as the "tester" has their 15 min. of fame, that's all that counts.

The Three Stooges-style music at the end was pretty funny as well.

  • Good to know.

  • shoot the mags lol

  • fuck these magazines in a firefight

  • Blocked comment .... Wow that's frustrating! God forbid I have something to say longer than a sentence! Anyway, Thanks Nutn, you the man.

  • @halerand3 If you tried to post a url, youtube will make it difficult. You have to be creative. Also there is a character limit to postings..if its a long post, just split it up into more than one posting. -- Veri (Nutn's sister)

  • Thanks Veri:),.. Marlin 795 - Outstanding utility / plinker. Love it. The only con being, limited (RELIABLE) aftermarket goodies. As you can see! So, after scouring the web for a few months looking for anything and everything 795 related, I feel its safe to say - Ive learned to appreicate the 795 in stock condition! With last shot hold open, a quick mag change is no biggie. Granted, I eagerly await a 25 shot mag like everyone else but, Im happy for the moment.:) Thanks for keeping it real Nutn.

  • I love the follow the fat man with a tuba music at the end

  • Im not a huge gun nut, Im not that knowledgable about them but even I know that that magazine is a disgrace. Im amazed a company can make something that bad and think its okay to release it for sale.

  • That mag looked cheesy from the start, nice camo though.

  • Don't worry Nutn, soon as Marlin see's this vid, we'll get that factory mag soon, it's called the Nutnfancy effect. It drives gun companies into doing the right thing.

  • @tacticaltrigger

Maybe. Marlin is very much in flux right now in the wake of the move from North Haven. Availability has been spotty at best for almost everything in their lineup. From what local FFL's tell me, what is in the pipeline is old stock. I think Marlin is going to be most concerned with getting back up to full firearm production for some time before tackling a new magazine project. Maybe next year IF they hear enough from the customer base.

  • I can feel your frustration from just watching the vid. I would have used them as targets about half way though.

  • @nutnfancy i think i would have broken all them over my knee.
