  • im getting a lesson from him :D

  • you really have to be a piper to know how hard this is

  • Sounds very 'arabic' in places. Enough to charm a cobra..!

  • HOLY .... THATS CRAZY

    AWESOME

  • we are related

  • Amazing!!!!!!! I am a ten year old piper and play in Stirling schools pipe band

I get lessons with Chris armstrong at the piping centre it is very inspirational and hope I had a job like that

  • after watching him i just say to my self....shit i need to practice

  • As fast as possible, impressive indeed. But where ist the MUSIC?!

  • Bravo! Cheers from Brazil

  • I have , frankly, never heard anything quite like this. I'll go back to 'My Fair Maid of

Barra". I never dreamed that a chanter could respond that fast.

  • Cheers Craig he plays superb.....Callm his music will come in years ...trust me

  • Wow...That was fecking awesome!

  • i wish i could play that

    it is legendary

  • Aye its no for someone who disna know what its a aboot, hes no silly, good on ya Chris... John Sutherland Brisbane..

  • yeah, i'm not a piper... but that was just f**king nuts! -WOW

  • He is, in general, fantastic technically. But its always struck me that he plays with virtually no musicality, certainly whenever i've seen him play. No musicality, and no composure. Every time he breaks down in recitals, he starts playing even quicker. Shame really...

  • @10dmancu this is what happens when a good bagpiper plays. Oh you are so jealous

  • haha its alright when he does it though!!!

  • What pipes does he play?

  • Naills

  • I apologize davoman. I was merely attempting a pun as to his name.

  • Chris is amazing!

  • davoman, I agree, he is Chris Armstrong.

  • @BagpipeHeadache I didn't say he's not Gordon Duncan; I said no Gordon Duncan as in he is not as musical a player as Gordon Duncan was. Don't get me wrong, Chris is a fantastic player but I disagree when people say he's better or "the new" Gordon.

  • Sorry but he's no Gordon Duncan

  • his pipes is very beautiful!!! i would like the same! but what's price!!! chris is my favorite piper, like fred morrison

  • I have the tune X-treme, doesnt seem as hard as it did a few years ago though :P

  • Aww man I need that music....

  • Gordan Duncan II

  • better than gordon!!!

  • I wanna die and come back and play like this Genius. Respect. Dod

  • noise.

  • Those aren't rings....they keep his fingers from flying off....

  • ......DAMN!!!!

  • sgtcrab1 correct me if i am wrong, but do the drones not alter after a period of time and need brought back into tune?? 8 minutes playing and u expect the pipes to sit !!!. can u play like this? no? then y are u criticising one of the greatest living pipers?? UR A MESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • why so many people playing flat hi As?

  • HOLY FUCKING SHIT BALLS!!!!

  • I've been playing for 4 years and I cant comprehend how this is even possible, he has made sounds and rythym patterns come out of the pipes that i couldnt have imagined.

  • playing a wee bit too fast for his head to keep up in places i think...

  • maybe to fast for his hands...however, alot faster than i cood manage.

  • It was a treat having him as n instructor.

  • i have seen quite a few guys before with fast hands in person....jack lee, gordon duncan, stu liddell, ryan canning, mark saul, danny boyle....and I gota say that he just played probably the most ridiculous stuff I have ever seen as far as speed is concerned!

  • nevermind speed. you must have control. Even Chris looses control over what he is playing. he makes a couple of stops. But he is still one of the best pipers i have ever heard.

  • Fantastic playing, as per usual, but I'm always struck at how dour and staunch audiences are at these things. Take the magnificent piping out and one would think it were a funeral when scanning the crowd? Enjoyed it all the same. Thanks for posting.

  • @riccardorodriguez81 Thats called respect. When someone this good is playing for you, you keep quit and pay attention.

  • what is the tune right before x treme? It is the tune to the intro of the worlds dvd 2007, if anyone knows please tell me!!!!!!!????

  • sounds like cane to me.

  • definitly not cane. Synthetics...My guess would be ezee-drone or Rockets

  • why do solo pipers always flick their hands out before they tune their drones??

  • cus otherwise its hard to reach up because your shirt gets stuck under your arm

  • gordon duncan just sat up in his grave.

  • holy shit chris.....

  • Haha, so true about the fingers!

Must be doing the same in his sleep, like a twitch...that man is awesome, though very concerned for tuning.

  • JetPipah and Bagpipa,

Regarding his "talking fingers" and "like a twitch".....he is simply adjusting the ring on his finger. Take another look. Probably more like a nervous habit.

  • haha.. notice that at the start when he is speaking his fingers are still going! wow.. he is like one my idols.. he has achieved so much in his piping at such a young age! amazing!

  • have had chris as one of my tutors. he really is better when he is live. fantastic man. amazing player and teacher.

  • beautiful set of pipes!

  • Anyone know the name of the first tune Chris plays?

  • it's armstrong's reel

  • No doubt an amazing player, but I've always thought his posture looks way uncomfortable. Obviously works for him, though; always a pleasure to listen to.

  • truly a master of his trade this man makes it look so easy... all of his music is amazing i dont think he has any tunes i dont likkeep up the good piping

  • Wth. THERE is where it turns from music into...oblivion. I'm sorry...I just did not have an ear for that at all.

  • amazing

  • What a stupid fucking comment? all frills and no substance? are you drunk?

  • well done, amazing tunes played by Chris!!!

  • He's too good!

    Used to teach me!

  • baw10 i think u should take up golf!!!

  • "all frills with no substance"?? That's a bit silly, isn't it? Chris won both the Bratach and the J.B. Robertson in 2007, previous wins include the Former Winners MSR at the Argyllshire Gathering, the overall champion at Cowal, A grade MSR at the Northern Meeting, 1st in the PM Donald MacLeod Memorial MSR, the Gold Medal at the Northern Meeting, and many, many others. How he fitted in the time between being of Pipe Major of the Grade 1 Scottish Power Pipe Band, I dunno.

  • I agree; ridiculous! I've heard him play live

and he is an amazing player; he can do it all,

Individual tastes are one thing, but to imply mediocrity in his musicianship has no credibility whatsoever.

  • your right to a point i mean its alot of that shit but you have to say its pretty sweet though...you try to play like though

  • "will one day grow old and be unable to play at all."

Lol seeing as he's only in his 20s thats a stupid comment, I mean how many 20 year olds do you know that have achieved as much Chris Armstrong?

  • @bawb10 jezus, ur talking crap dude. Do you play bagpipes yourself?

  • jesus, like learn some new tunes or some shit...

  • @bagpiss This WAS filmed more than two and a half years ago, when it all was relatively new. Not seen any of your new tunes on Youtube..... not seen ANY of your tunes on Youtube!!

  • @bawb10 I take it you have an extra long kilt to hide the massive balls you must have to slag Chris Armstrong.

  • Whoops, i meant reel. The bala-what?

  • Among others, Chris is playing is The Barachio's Reel from his CD Notes Frae Ma Heid, (I think). I've not seen the World's DVD, so I can't comment on that. The last tune on the vid is Chris' version of Mason's Apron.

  • Last tune in the first set. My mistake.

    Thanks.

  • its on the CD Quantum Leap great song and a great CD

  • Isin't that last jig the opening theme for the worlds' 2007 dvd?

Sweet, didn't know it was one of his..

  • Absolutly insane...hes amazing

  • 5***** are not enough!!!!!!

    Just Fantastic!!!!

    Kindest regards

    Andreas
