  • crispy bellows!!!

  • Hey, I hesitate between 2 models of melodeon, both in the cajun style (this one you have and the hohner 114). So could be possible for you to share an other video where you 'll show everything on this melodeon (I mean basses, 4 stop...)?

  • Well mine just got here. WRONG color. NO 40 page instruction book (did yours come with one?) And for the life of me, I can NOT find the SERIAL Number they are asking me for either. Have you seen one on yours? Of to a bad start I am! :-)

    PS, On mine the thumb strap is so tight I can't even get my thumb around the edge. Does that break in & be normal when out of the box new?

  • @mikecartwrightbeach I had to unscrew the thumb strap and re-screw it in at a more comfortable position. Pretty easy to do. I did get the inst. booklet, did I ever look at it, no. It was filled with sheet music and no tab, so. As for a serial number, cant say I ever found one! Youtube and DVDs will be your best friend. I made another video playing Colinda, thinking I got better, but I didnt. So I didnt post it!

  • @motechscribe Well I decided to keep this one as it seems a lot nicer than I expected. A replacement may not be? I have the wife out buying a longer leather piece (if she finds one at a fabric store) so I can extend that thumb strap. I am WAY afraid to drill new holes. And my strap is drilled at the very end so no way to extend the original. I have 3 different teaching DVD'S on the way so screw that book I guess. Can't wait for my thumbstrap so I can start learning.. Thanks for the answers!

  • How's the playing coming along? I have the same accordion arriving Tomorrow and need some encouragement! How long did it take till you could play this well? And last, THANKS for the great video, you give me hope,

    Mike

  • Hi Mike. I haven't been practicing as much as I should. So far what has worked best for me is trying to stick to learning only one or two songs at first, and keep playing them over and over. I would also suggest getting a few DVDs to assist you in learning some of the basics. I bought Big Nick's Cajun Accordion Vol 1 as well as Wilson Savoy's Cajun Rhythm and Syncopation. Granted, I cant play very fast, and most of what I play, doesnt even sound cajun yet, but just gotta keep working!

    @motechscribe

    Thanks. How long have you played? I have never touched an accordion so figure I will be a mess. My box arrives tomorrow. Ordering the Big Nick's Cajun Accordion Vol 1 NOW thanks to you. I already also ordered LEARN TO PLAY CAJUN ACCORDION Published by Homespun Video Taught by Dirk Powell

  • I got my accordion in early March of this year. But, havent been playing as much as I promised to. Yeah, Big Nick's video is a great introduction. I was playing a few songs not too long after opening it up. Remember to listen to lots of what you are trying to play, whether it be cajun or zydeco. Just remember that zydeco is played on boxes that are in B flat, and ours are C, so it makes it a little harder to learn to play those songs by ear. Keep in touch for sure, beginnners unite!

  • Hey good job! Keep it up! What key is that in?

  • @christronomatic Thanks, Its in the key of C. I need to post some new videos of a few other songs Ive learned. Thanks again for the encouragement!
