i use phoenix rc. sims do shorten the learning curve drastically, before sims i had to go thru the learning process and progress to a collective pitch. only a few weeks after the sim i was doing fast forward flight and my orientation improved leaps n bounds, yay phoenix
I have Phoenix and I agree that simulators are the best way to start learning and sharpening your skills. When I first started rc flying 20 years ago, I learned on a "stick man" Dave Brown simulator. The interface was a metal box. But you know what? It taught me all I needed to know. I practiced all winter and in the spring I did my first maiden. I still use sims whenever I want to try something new. Great way to learn!
It is so weird, using G5.5 along with Flight simulators(X-plane & FSX). I've noticed my mind getting extremely sharp, although overloading at times. I'm still in a sense a aviation virgin but wow,I need to be punished I'm having so much fun. :D
When I launch my heli it spins around....I can balance it but when I try to go back or forward it starts to spin again!I can balance it only for some seconds!
Is there something wrong.?..just unboxed it and I can't find any problems
To anyone who say's flying ona sim is bullshit, it's not, trust me... i never flew in my life untill a week ish before xmas, gota cp gold, by flight 7 i was flying circuits... short hops were only for one flight, no walking, no shit...
Lol yeah 1 hour on the trick fair enough. I can say that when I practiced on the sim for 2 weeks, got my first plane, I could fly it around and landed it on my second attempt (instructor helped on the first) so yeah the sim definitely does help. I've been enjoying realflight 4.5 for over a year now :-)
@lothar2048 you are misunderstanding my statements as well. This video meant for one trick only that i learned practicing on sim in an hour. Of course my 3 or 4 years of flying experience counts greatly too. But these days we never try to learn a new trick in real life. we learn it practice it on sim and then perform it on real helis. Hope this clears out your bullshit
@alishanmao : I knew, this was a bad joke and i saw that you explained it as well. But i'd liked to make the joke... So i retrieve my comment to give you a B+...
Where can I download the model you used in Realflight?
Realflight learned me some tricks too (loop, nose-in, flip). Did wreck two models in real life though, one pilot error, one material failure (broken servo horn).
There are two types of people who fly simulators. Gamers and real rc pilots. Gamers just want to do tricks and fly the most easiest(dominion 90) simulator model. For real rc pilots you need to fly most challenging/hardest conditions. Turn up the physics(I use 135%), add wind, fly the crappy helimaxe axe cp simulator model. It's like weight training. Need maximum resistance to become faster/skillful.
I've never seen a dude so happy that his skills had improved! Well done brother!
I hopefully am getting Real Flight Basic Tomorrow to start learning how to fly my Blade 400. I flew it once and it crashed violently within 5 seconds, so I repaired it and it went back in the box where it will stay until I learn on the flight sim!
@dannne82 Yes, there is a big difference. Mainly, sim's are set-up for "gaming". Fun, easy, cool, no crash cost. For "real productive practice" you need to explore different parameters, try restrictive flight environments, higher physics, and tweak the pitch/throttle curves(yes you can customize this just like a real tx). I personally have start/stopped using the sim about 5 times. Now I practice 30 minutes before my daily 8 flights. My trex500 has 2070 flights only 9 crashes.
i spent most of my free time in the sim and now that im in a club, i do all these stunts in my u can do that some of the other members never even heard of.
and 2 things. im 15 and just got into rc last summer.
@LeChave Well I am improving on daily basis. Now trying to learn to inverted hover and flight, and bring my Drago450 or King 4 closer to ground on inverted hover, and also practicing Tic tocs :D
@2cold88 If you wanna learn well on realflight, choose the crappiest heli. I use realflight G3.5 (Just bought G5) but still prefer practicing on Realflight G3.5 using Heli Max MX450. that heli is as real as it gets to real life. its not easy to control so if you practice using this heli, and later fly your helicopter outdoors, you will feel your heli in real life is more stable hahaha
hey Ali, great video . I was also thinking that you got a hold lot of subscriber, who are really dedicated and watch all most all you videos because thank you your videos are really beneficial. anyways seeing that you are a person that has a whole lots of RC Vehicle I THINK THAT YOU SHOW HAVE SOME GIVE AWAYS AT LEAST ONCE IN A WHILE. I'm sure that everyone who is a Subscriber to you Channel will agree with me can you please consider it. And thanks again for the great videos ..
@ladykiller0005 Problem is I am in China and giving away means, if for instance, I give away a plane to you, the shipping will cost you almost the same price that you can buy a new plane at your place LOL, so still want me to give away something to you?
Very nice! I still suck at helis but sims have helped me to be be able to fly inverted and some basic stunt manouvers on planes in real life flying, I tell all my friends that want to fly to get a sim 1st just even to get used to orientation in the 3rd person perspective.
Very good Ali, practice makes perfect! I use Phoenix sim and it saves a lot of money! Not tried Realflight, but even the cheapest sim's like Flightmaster are worth the investment!
thanks ali ,got all sorted now,,and servos arrived,,,,,VERY well flown friend,,ive practised all winter on sim ,but doubt if i could do this the way you do,,
sims are great to learn inverte controls until its a automatism ,,saves you a lot of crashes repairs and spending on new parts though.and is fun to do things you wouldnt dare to do for real.
@alishanmao,, im eager to ,but waiting for 6s lipos and loader ,,shipping has been delayed in europe trough grounding of airplanes ,because of vulcanic dustcloud,
ever heard of murphys law? whatever can go wrong does go wrong ;-))
Great flying Ali you are making progress very fast. Im having trouble with the heligods, my motor gave up on me today got one order so no flying this week, and hobby king is behind with orders ;-(. Take some time to watch my vids en comment. !!

any sim will help you
it teaches your reflexes what to do when you get in trouble
you also learn how not to over compensate for it because as the angle of the heli changes people tend to tilt it to much to one side
I find it hard to believe that this video is after 1 hour on a sim with no other help and no other flight experience
a sim will save you alot of $, I learned all my inverted flight on a sim first
use it as a tool and not a toy and it works
