  • Superb Song.

  • viralilum kuralilum swarangalin naatium amaithen naan! IRs appearance is apt and true. We are in desperate need of Raja in Tamil music to save dying tamil cinema music.

  • i feel like chnadrasekar in this song....especially his slow acting i like much...i wa studying 5th std that time...one of great eevergreen song..unforgettable just..spb's +ilayaraja and bharathiraja's padaippu..but its very unfortunate film was not succesful..but it reached people's mind..great song

  • Everlasting supremo !!! thats RAJA !!!

  • you can feel every breath of Ilayaraja mixed with Music.. Outstanding no comparisan he is the best in the Century.. Long live Raja god bless you!

    By Kumaran

  • I think that's what the earlier comment said. Phantom Planet's - California is itself based heavily on a two much older songs Al Jonson's California Here I come and Joni Mitchell's California. Having said all that, to an untrained ear like mine, there's nothing in common between any of these songs. Raja's song sounds very very different from the others. At best there's some similarity to ABBA's cover of Al Jonson's song, but only if you are very drunk and feel like making a connection. :D

  • cute song

  • you got to be kidding me

  • Ilayaraja, SPB and Vairamuthu were a great combination. A similar type of hit song was ANDHI MAZHAI POZHIKIRATHU in Rajaparvai

  • Just a correction, this song was penned by Vaali.

  • @dpaulraj Sorry for the mistake. Thank you for pointing out.

  • Itz a beautiful song and raja is mastero in melody, nobody can deny that. It is really true that youngsters don't understand the genre. uve to understand that period what kind of music was, how it broke the monotony of the previous composers.

  • Illayaraja Unleashed....

  • @deepakina No anglo indians today??/ come 2 cochin kerala.... ALL of them r here.. wat hapned is now all r like anglo indians so dey lost thier identity...MOST of you may feel angry but the truth is ILAYARAJA HIMSELF IS A HYPE HE AINT A LEGEND he is only talented not GENIUS search 4 vanchelis u CAN hear SOME originals OF RAJA EVEN RAHMANS...

  • No Anglo-Indians these days.... Every last one left to Australia :(

  • @deepakina anglo indians are around 2 lakhs in TN

  • Outstanding composition to match the mood of the scene. Pudhu raagam padaippathaley naanum yiraivaney..... Yes Raja - God of music.

  • whenever I hear this song my total mind and soul goes to 80's, just see the age of ilaiyaraja at that time, how he can compose this beautiful song

  • can't understand how come there can be 16 dislike for a such a awesome composition, may be "so called" youngster might have opted to dislike this song...Hats off to the living legend "God of Music" Mr.Ilayaraja, for giving such a wonderful songs....very unfortunate that in his time there was n much hype and exaggeration by "so called" media and other aspects like TV or FM...

  • @HKumar2011 - Dislike must be for the picturisation. It is terrible.

  • @HKumar2011 im a youngster and i hit the like button.....dont judge youngsters just because they dont like the genre of the song.......im proud to say that im a youngster but my music came from the 80's and 90's and even the 70's....so dont be so judgemental u close minded prick!!!

  • MANN JUST LISITING TO THE SONG WITH EYES CLOSED .. TAKES ME INTO THE CLOUDS

  • Does this song sound somewhere like "Sorgam madhuvile? Sokkum azhagile?" :P

  • Cult Songs of yesteryear!

  • this is a real song for raja the great

  • oh the god of music ur so great tht u have given us ur son illaiyaraja who can create music like this........... love this tht too the lyrics makes me go mad ohhhhhh............im only 15 i wasnt even there during this movie but still i love all these 1980s raja's flick...........ahhhhhhhhh

  • @vsriv911 exactly right!

  • 15 assholes.

  • Look at the Maestro back in the days...starting at 2:15. Hahaha.. funny and yet so cute.

This is the period where ilayaraaja created his masterpieces...

  • sounds like beatles music in tamil

  • Simply amazing....SPB voice and Isaigani's composition....what else we need. Took me to my childhood days...great song

  • Superb song

  • i came here b/c of saukrates & k-os. cool.

  • @TheTechpunter No I checked it was written by Vaali. Every line/word came true in Illayaraja's life.

  • My all time fav..... BTW who wrote the lyrics?

  • @soulblis I think Vairamuthu, this was his debut movie

  • if anybody is lazy also, after hearing this song he will wake up immediately;i remember my childhood after hearing this song;present/past and future generation also can enjoy this song

  • I think you can bear the ego for that sheer talent or knowledge - This is my humble opinion.....This does not make him bad.... This blame game happens with people who are not able to meet the tough standards.....

  • @JKS - Man, California came in 2002, but, this song was composed by Maestro way back in 1977-78. So, this California Phantom Song is a copy from Ilayaraja.

  • @jothikumaran no one copied anyone. stop being stupid

  • @rdhinakar U moron, this was composed in 1979 released 1980. Phantom planet California was 2002. So u decide who copied

  • @TheTechpunter : you are a real moron. you have not read what I said. Better learn English you asshole! You don't teach me on Ilayaraja. Being a die hard fan of raja and has seen this film in cinema theatre in 1980, I think I know better than you. You even don't know the exact year of release. you are talking about me. I have clearly mentioned that this song was copied by California phantom and not IR copied this from California phantom. Better lick your barf!

  • @TheTechpunter : you check your eyes and see the 3 likes under my post! if I had given a wrong data, there wouldn't be 3 likes.

  • girls humming when 2nd stanza starts is really mazing ilairja always best , born musician, god's gift to us

  • probably the only time in his life that chandrasekhar had chicks around him ;)

  • this song tell us the life of ilayaraja actually. although portrayed on a different actor in a film. this is his story..... i bow to the genius anytime. 15 oscars is even not enough for this song alone. each of his song is a gem and deserve 100 oscars. what has ar.rehman done greatly ???

  • @addieroxrev09 I agree with you on Ilayaraja's talent, but I think the undoing of IR in that he could not scale greater heights is his massive ego and the bad manner in which he is known to treat people who work for and with him - whether they are singers or band members or directors. As a result, people moved away from him and were attracted to ARR who is the personification of humility.

  • Natabhairavi - | S R2 G2 M1 P D1 N2 S | S N2 D1 P M1 G2 R2 S

  • Timeless IR/SPB classic !! Fantabulous !

  • The most noted lyric in this song "Puthu raagam padaipathaalee naanum iraivanee"

    Very self-composed

  • This is the only song i can see where SPB is doing voice over for Illayaraja. or any other singer. And notice the exact line from which Raja appears:

    புது ராகம் படைப்பதாலே நானும் இறைவனே!
