aww cute! My cat is the same way. He watches my bird and guinea pigs sometimes. He's not even interested in them! lol! He does however like to snuggle up with our guinea pigs when we are holding them hehe! Its really cute!
amazing...so cool....we have a cockatiel and have jus bought a little kitten..............any tips or advice would by helpful for a peaceful life..many thanks..
Just let them get used to eachothers presence, if the bird is nervous of the kitten, keep them separated until he bird gets used to it, at the same time if the kitten starts looking at the bird like it's a new toy take him away or distract her with something more interesting. You've got to teach the kitten that there are alot more interesting things to play with than a bird, at the same time as the bird gains confidence it way even give the kitten a peck to put it in its place.
@HeroMaryah Yeah most cats not properly introduced to birds at a young age will act this way, it is natural, never let your bird out when the cat is around.
@HeroMaryah Some cats just have a higher prey drive than others. I recently got a new kitten and I wouldn't trust her around my birds either. Some cats just love to chase anything that moves whereas others, like my cat in the video, have little interest in playing or hunting, too lazy. :P So yeah, you can try to get your kitten used to the bird by keeping her on a harness and seeing if things improve. If not, it's probably best just to keep the cat locked out when you have the bird out.
Pfft... You obviously have no understanding of animal psychology... Predators sense fear in their prey, the fact that my birds do not act afraid means do not set off a drive mode in the cat, therefore the cat does not see the bird as being prey. If the bird were to become startled or frightened by something then there may be a problem, in that case the bird would be removed from the situation, thus the reason why they should NEVER left alone together.
The bird is perfectly safe under my surveillance. With that said I wouldnt recommend it for people that have no understanding of how to read animal body language, such as yourself.
It's not 100% when it comes to animals and instincts. I know from a 2nd hand experience tragedy. Please keep them under your supervision when out of the cage.

be careful, one time my bird flew out of the cage and the cat jumped right off the table and caught it in its mouth and blood squirted everywhere.

The main goal is for the bird to feel calm and relaxed around the kitten.
