I swear that as a kid I got an ending where I wasn't arrested and didn't get the "game over man". My joystick broke and as a result for some reason I couldn't get up to speed, so I did the whole course at the speed limit, and there was an alternate ending.
Of course, I can't prove this because my Amiga is long dead, but I remember it happening.
BTW i just noticed (as not having seen this for 20 years) that the female cop looks VERY 80's style! Not so hot as i had it in my mind. With the time, also the taste changes...
Love the game, played it when i was 8-10 years old. 2 things stay in my mind forever: the awsome theme and "me" standing beside my Ferrari and getting handcuffed by the female cop :-)
Now i have the theme on audio cd and listen to it when driving in my jag :-)
I always thought the game was supposed to be longer. When ever I saw the "Game Over" thingy I thought I had a demo version or something. Kinda misleading...
I have always liked Porshe until discovering that the key was to run full speed on central line. I even used to drive faster on the 4 levels the the vid posted, but usually crashed once or twice on the last two. Then I got too old and abandoned this game. Atari ST still waits for better times.
PERFECT DRIVE, what platform you got this game amiga or PC. i have got a long long time ago this game on C64 on 4 disc. i need TD II for PS. answerd me pleas. HELP (nice drive)
Yeah but the PC version's gameplay is more fair. At least there you still have a fighting chance of blocking the cop's overtaking. In the Amiga if the cop get's too close to you, you're locked into submission, you can steer the only way out is to stop and get the damn ticket.
On amiga and atari there is one more chance: cops chase you, so run slowly behind another car, when they start overtaking you, power to the max on central line. When lucky, the car coming from opposite direction will smash them! This works better on later stages when you have more opposite cars. I did the trick maybe 10 times, 33% success rate, the rest was brutal getaway on F40.
Yeah that makes sense if you're lucky to have an oncoming car the moment the smokey overtakes. However, I know even you tailgate the car in front of you and the copy overtakes, he just pushes the car in front of you. But yeah you're right, it's only in the F40 that you can brutally outrun in because of its top speed. Cops run at 200 mph on max difficulty.
@AndrisHUN Noob means new right? Well the only noob here is you as you are new to gaming. Playing this game doesnt make you poor its called classic gaming, i myself play tones of old school. I play more old school then new but have my PS3 and new school gaming rig collecting dust. When you get older you will understand when a friend pulls out one the old games that you enjoy of today. For alot of us these games where and are unbelievable back then, show some respect

I always liked the F40 more than the Porsche 959 even when the Porsche had a better handling. Great Engine Sound and a cooler Dashboard.
