  • Sorry to be so late reading this article. There are no words! I know since I am ex-military psychiatrist Vietnam 1968-1973 with two tours with VAMCs. There are no comprehensive programs for PTSD at the VAs or military bases. Inadequate in understanding of veterans is the rule. The antiquated System that is the VA has no oversight committee that has guts to make corrective change and kick out the dead wood that permeates therein. I know and can document my words. Video coming. Journalist needed

  • My name is Hannah and Tim was my cousin and good friend...I miss him dearly. The VA hospital in Spokane never told us about his condition because of confidentiality. That is crap because we could have helped in some way. His death shouldn't have happened.

  • Hi my name is Hannah Quesnell and Timothy Juneman was my cousin and good friend. It's absolute bullshit what happened. I despise the VA hospital because they could have easily checked on my cousin after he had missed several appointments and possibly even saved his life. The hospital didn't share any info about Tim's health with us and so there was no way of us knowing...Tim hid it very well. We all miss him so much and as much as we want to blame everyone for his death, it was his decision.

  • You know I hope nobody blames the family for the suicide because this is my family. We did all we could to help Tim, we loved him so much. I hope people learn from my cousin/friend's case. I hate the war because things like this happen everyday to these men and women. I planned on traveling over to Tim's apartment to check on him but it was too late. It was a shock to everyone...the VA hospital didn't release any info on our sick loved one. If we had known we could have helped somehow.

  • Rarely do I blame others for their own actions, but this is a clear case of the VA's complete incompetence. The whole hospital program needs to prioritize mental health immediately! My sincere condolences.

  • i blame the bush administration.. this war is a false war. i went to iraq and afghnistan there is nothing to do there we need to get out and stop this nonsense of deploying soldiers like 3 times.. this war on terror needs to end now!!

  • What is happening to our veterans is unacceptable. The care that these men are receiving is inadequate. A soldier suffering from clinical depression, PTSD, and TBI simply cannot be expected to stay on top of their own care. Their pleas for help cannot be dismissed or overlooked. The VA needed to stand up for this poor, troubled, frightened man. Soldiers are people, not war cogs. They bleed and suffer like the rest of us - maybe more.

Enough is enough. Support our troops! Bring them home!!!

  • Yes there are some good doctors at the VA but there are a lot of bad ones. I know I've lost respect for those pathetic pricks. Thank God I have private insurance through my wife.

  • This is why i wrote It's Blasphemy, whatcha' askin' me!!!! I'm a Vet!!! I've got a lot of friends and family the same!!!! Fortunately my neice came back & is doing fine!! Marines only spend six months at a time. One of the reasons I wrote the president, was the effect war has on soldiers and an immoral war would have greater effect on our troops coming home!!!

  • So sad I can imagine the guilt on them causing them to want to commit suicide.America you upset me that you make our people go through this.God forgives and loves all.I was suicidal but I got through it thanks to the love of God.He saved me literally.

  • It is only by the grace of God that my dad got operated on by a VA hospital for colon cancer many years ago and they did a good job. The prayers of the righteous do indeed availeth much.

  • This is mind boggling, his mother didn't go to see how he was doing when she didn't hear from him for 20 days???? What's wrong with his mother? If she knew he was depressed, she should have called him on the phone Every Day. God Bless our Veterans and America!

  • Timothy lived hundreds of miles away from his mother. He was a grown son attending college. His mother was aware of his condition and spoke with him daily by phone. She feared the worst when days went by and he would not answer his phone or return messages. She prepared to travel the full day's drive to get to him, but then learned of his death. This mother is a model mother who respected her 25 yr. old son's privacy. She expected the National Guard and the VA to be where she could not be.

  • I agree, she will fill the guilt.I hope this doesnt turn into someone looking for money.

  • they give their life for us, they should be treated with respect and honor!

  • God bless these men and all veterans who have witnessed the tragedy of war.

  • The truth is the federal government does not care about veterans. They are controlled by wealthy war criminals who only want control, oil, and money. I made a mistake serving the USA military and working in the federal banking regulatory industry. I was injected, tortured, attacked, almost killed, and labeled a criminal and insane for surviving an attempt on my life and for having a legal gun. I had no choice but to sign documents when they were injecting and making me sick and incarcerated.

  • This, among other reasons,is why I tell young people to stay out of the military. They will use you and then spit you out like you are nothing,if you manage to actually survive whatever Godforsaken and probably unneccessary or unjust war they send you into just so rich folks can make some more dollars. What liars. The U.S. govt does not care about us. All it cares about is making the rich richer by fighting wars that profit them and no one else. Certainly not the common citizens. Word.

  • well put anthony. i respect all those brave people who would fight for me. unfortunately though, theyre fighting for ancillary control of oil pipelines. it's too bad that our conservatives won't admit theses facts. for me, it's still political, for that mother it's losing a son. both are truly fucked up. which is why "goddamn america" holds some validity in the face of many stories like this.

  • No,it is never acceptable to say God damn America. God save America is more appropriate. America is doing bad enough without God damning it. He damns it and we will really be finished. America does not deserve to be blessed but all Christians should pray for its salvation so it does not face the wrath of God. That is for sure.

  • Well said, Ant; and thanks for sending this vid.

  • best wishes to the troops- they deserve to be treated well.

  • thanks for sharing Mac!

    bless

    proshka

  • 1-800-273-TALK - this number should be in EVERY VETERANS POSSESSION - PASS IT TO THEM. THIS NUMBER MAY SAVE A LIFE. SHARE THIS VIDEO

THEIR LIFE NEED NOT HAVE BEEN LIVED AND RISKED FOR THE NAME OF COUNTRY IN VAIN.

  • I am putting that number into my cell phone so that if I ever run across a depressed veteran I will have the number for them. God bless you for sharing that.
