Played this at my dad's funeral as he was 87, he was well in the beatles era and coming from Liverpool well what can i say. The thing is my bother used to go to the cavern when the beatles played there he used to come back so full of the beatles buzzing with excitement, i was ten when he was showing me how to do the cavern stomp!!! my dad bless him thought us mad and kept going on about the ya ya ya! that's all it is......but this song just sums it all up for me.
I played this song a lot after my dad passed. Haven't heard it since then, which was almost 17 years ago. Still gets me...beautiful song! Here's to you, dad...
An absolute epic! What a wonderful love song whether to play at a wedding or funeral. Just so touching. If you listen really closely to the words and picture wedding vows, (I feel myself ) it seems more fitting for a wedding song or engagement party song regardless, or a love song to be dedicated to someone on the radio , regardless of how much it has been played at funerals. I LOVE THIS SO MUCH!!! Most people that love the Beatles chose this as one of their favourites.
@TerryBananaBoots John Lennon was not quite that great. He had many flaws, just like any other human, but he stood strong for what he believed in, and was one heck of a musician. and like @SquidkidMega said, even if he was that great, he wouldn't agree. He was a humble man.
@Muns92 Well if you take the impact that John had on this earth compared to Jesus then they are probably about equal in the level of awakening they brought about! With John his words were recorded so can never be manipulated by Governement or Religous nuts to control the mass's.As a man John was very normal. I read one time he was with Yoko at a party and he met another woman and loudly screwed her in the next room as Yoko sat in the next room chatting to guests as if nothing was happening!

When you listen to some of the music, you notice that the drumming is a pretty big part. Without Ringo, The Beatles would have never been how they are now. Ringo is a phenomenal drummer, he was a left handed drummer who played right kit on almost all of the songs.

@PaulyWally4576 1964. Us boys could not get a turn on the swingset (2nd grade) unless we knew a full Beatles song and could recite it! Now, I'm old and many of those beautiful young girls are gone now... I still sing thier songs as I pittle about my home with my dogs many years later.. they wag thier tails.

I wondered why The Beatles never picked up on that----well, I was wrong, and here it is (and a far better song, to boot)!
my biggest regret in life? Not growing up in the 60's to watch The Beatles grow into the best band ever. As soon as a time machine is invented, I'm going back to the 60's forever.
@amandaelizabeth7 Yes, it would be great to keep rewinding a time machine to the start of the decade every new year's eve 1969, and exploring a new aspect of the Sixties every time. Provided one could still look young. You could go to Swinging London and meet all your heroes.

Yes a great Song. Written by My Hero. John Lennon. Happy 71st Birthday John. I have enjoyed spending the entire week-end with you and honoring your birthday 10-9-11 and Celebrating your life through your songs and photos and my love letter to you. John I dont think i will ever get over loosing you. I miss your presence in this world and in my life every single day. I will love you forever and keep your spirit alive in every way that i can. I honor your birthday John Winston Lennon ILuvUJohn..
This song has a special place in my heart. At my son's wedding a yr ago, it was playing and he was singing this in my ear, as we danced the mother/son dance.
I read that John spent one morning trying to compose something special, something really good, but the inspiration didn't come. After five hours trying, he lied on his bed, and after a few moments, this song came to his mind, music and lyrics, all of it.
What an incredible mind...we miss you same as always, John...
People all over the world , please remember, next Sunday (October 9th) , John would be celebrating 71 years...
The electric piano between 1:29 and 1:47 was played by George Martin

A great great great album. We all have our favorite and this is mine. Which is unbelievable considering everything that followed. It was my first Beatles album so maybe that's why. This is one of the most underrated love song/ballads in rock history. God blessed the boys and it was a gift to us all:-)
I'm 59 but never saw the Beatles in person. However, my wife & I have seen impersonator groups 4 times, in different cities, even smaller towns. Some are really amazing & create for you the experience, right down to the group's different periods w/ costume changes, etc. Get past being a Beatles purist & seek these out; you won't regret it!
im 15 and dream of travelling the world once ive left school and done a course in collage and i want to be able to play this when im old and grey and remember hopefully all the special places i travelled to on my dream world traveling tour!!
I love the Beatles with all my heart and I think they're the greatest...
But I kind of want to slap the two people who made the top comments. I appreciate your devotion, but just because people have different musical tastes should they be threatened? No! Just accept it, music is subjective. I bet that's what these guys would've done.
On October 9th we will all watch "Imagine" in honor of the greatest singer ever's birthday. Let's give him the best birthday present ever: the highest viewed video on YouTube!! Let's give him what he deserves and what Justin Bieber does not deserve to have!
Copy and paste to all John lennon/beatles videos and all music videos let's get this noticed quickly!
My fiance and I are getting married in three years when I finish college. We don't know which venue we want to rent, which colors we will use, or many other details for that matter. What we do know is that this is the song that will be playing when we have our first dance as man and wife.
This is the one song that I always listen to that makes me the saddest I wasn't around to see the Beatles. It's just perfect and no modern artist could create anything half as good as a song off Rubber Soul.
It's a well-known fact that the Beatles are my favorite band, and that it is impossible for me to pick a favorite of theirs. So, instead of asking my favorite, someone asked what the last song I'd want to hear before I died would be. After serious consideration I decided on this one. It's just the quintessential Beatles, and c'mon in my life? Obviously fitting.
woaah doesn't matter i try...i can contain my tears when this song start....and more in the part of never lose affection...oh my god when i finish high school i cry like a baby and this song, elt it e, and hey jude was sung that day
in my life, ive never kissed anyone. and I have autism. and yes I go to a place where other people have down syndrome and other stuff they can't control, and I feel like im one of them. I barely have friends
@wiisalute At least you have the opportunity to kiss people, think of the people who don't have that chance. Or what about the people who can't hear, they can't listen to this amazing song. You should be happy for what you have, and be happy that it isn't much worse. I hope you find true happiness one day :)
@wiisalute Everybody goes through that phase though really, you'll see :p eventually your mind will click that it's silly and there's plenty of humans out there. if a girl denies you, then it probably wasnt ment to happen anyway. but, if you dont try you never will succeed, so why not try? just be a lil confident. eventually you'll get the right one and be happy and thats what matters
@Filiolus ugh i hate people with autism. i have to go to a stupid college for people who have aspergers and have learning disabilities like me. TORTURE!!!! Id rather put a gun to my head
@wiisalute you will find someone someday. just never stop looking like i did. because the more you look, the better chance you have. i have asperger's syndrome, and i have a girlfriend and we've been dating for almost 4 months. your day will come when you least expect it. don't be afraid to approach a girl either, cuz some girls like it when the guy is nervous
@legoblockdude oh good for you. cuz i can't approach a girl because girls are like strangers. well thats what my friend says. he thinks that approaching a random girl is weird and creepy
@legoblockdude im almost in college, how will i ever have a girlfriend? ugh im starting to cry. (sobbing) what the fuck am i supposed to do? i don't know what to do. UGH FUCK IT!!!

@MrBmgbluz Good job, I didn't think that many people were aware of this.
When these albums came out they never gave credit to other musicians on the albums.
I personally believe that if it weren't for George Martin, they would never have done as well as they did. He truly was the 5th Beatle.

@MrMGD92 lyrics on brass plate outside the 'Cavern Club' in Liverpool.
Sadly not the original Cavern, now one of those places that have changed forever.
For an old timer this song is so poignant.

@observe45 One of the things that I love about this song and that I think really shows the genius of the songwriter is that anyone of any age can understand them and relate to them.I think this is the best song ever written.

Get past being a Beatles purist & seek these out; you won't regret it!

sometimes people ask me what is your favorite beatles song and I say the one that I happened to be listening at the time!
armanpour335 6 months ago
I love the Beatles with all my heart and I think they're the greatest...
But I kind of want to slap the two people who made the top comments. I appreciate your devotion, but just because people have different musical tastes should they be threatened? No! Just accept it, music is subjective. I bet that's what these guys would've done.

WateringcanPro 6 months ago 56
@WateringcanPro I think many modern artists creates songs at least half as good as the songs on rubber soul!

@WateringcanPro Same here...it's so sad that I wasn't born when the Beatles were around...no one could match the songwriting of Lennon/McCartney ♥♥

Obviously fitting.

in my life, ive never kissed anyone. and I have autism. and yes I go to a place where other people have down syndrome and other stuff they can't control, and I feel like im one of them. I barely have friends
wiisalute 7 months ago
@wiisalute At least you have the opportunity to kiss people, think of the people who don't have that chance. Or what about the people who can't hear, they can't listen to this amazing song. You should be happy for what you have, and be happy that it isn't much worse. I hope you find true happiness one day :)
Filiolus 7 months ago
@Filiolus how? im too scared to talk to a girl cuz im afraid i will creep her out. and my friend thinks it's weird
wiisalute 7 months ago
@wiisalute Everybody goes through that phase though really, you'll see :p eventually your mind will click that it's silly and there's plenty of humans out there. if a girl denies you, then it probably wasnt ment to happen anyway. but, if you dont try you never will succeed, so why not try? just be a lil confident. eventually you'll get the right one and be happy and thats what matters
Filiolus 7 months ago
@Filiolus yeah. i hope i'll find a girlfriend in college. What if the girl has autism like me? I would definitely not like that
wiisalute 7 months ago
@Filiolus do you think it's weird if i approached a girl that i didn't know?
wiisalute 7 months ago
@Filiolus ugh i hate people with autism. i have to go to a stupid college for people who have aspergers and have learning disabilities like me. TORTURE!!!! Id rather put a gun to my head
wiisalute 7 months ago
@wiisalute you will find someone someday. just never stop looking like i did. because the more you look, the better chance you have. i have asperger's syndrome, and i have a girlfriend and we've been dating for almost 4 months. your day will come when you least expect it. don't be afraid to approach a girl either, cuz some girls like it when the guy is nervous
legoblockdude 7 months ago
@legoblockdude oh good for you. cuz i can't approach a girl because girls are like strangers. well thats what my friend says. he thinks that approaching a random girl is weird and creepy
wiisalute 7 months ago
@legoblockdude im almost in college, how will i ever have a girlfriend? ugh im starting to cry. (sobbing) what the fuck am i supposed to do? i don't know what to do. UGH FUCK IT!!!
