(To the producer of this video): This is an interesting video; however honestly you spend 10 minutes conveying what is really a very simple message?!!! And change the style of commentary please, there is no need to repeat word-for-word what is clearly contained in the screen.
Thinking about this they may be using Free Google AdWords, about $25.00 to $75.00 dollars can be obtained for new accounts. Once that cash runs out, they may create a new account and get another $50.00 dollars.
But then Google gets some cash for this so do they care?
Good video, Good experience sharing. My adword traffic quality has been very poor. I believe this is one major reason. I will report to Google. I will stop clicking on links from a Google adword page.
Well, if I make Ads, I set the setting, that I wanna be ONLY found on google Website and not on such shitty ad-Pages.
And I hate that Only-Ad-Pages! They sometimes seem like you've found exactly what you were seeking for. And then what you find is just that shitty AdPage!
too sad. This guy must think for the keywords "blah blah blah" on google, there is going to be a special team of people making sure the terms not used?

Local offline advertising is often overlooked as a great way of effective promotion for any business. I've used this method with great results many times over the years. If you're looking for a free way to advertise your business to 10,000 people locally, this might be just what you're lookng for.
I also love the fact that every time I've used this method I've made sevral hundred in a few days PLUS got my own ad(s) out to 10,000 local people for FREE!
The target and display URL can be different so you cannot begin your research by swiping and copying the link - you have to click on it to really get to the target location.
Not really very surpising, I have found adwords the most infurating system to use. I don't mind the $30K/month cost so much as the time wasted in management, I guess these scams don't help, us 'normal' advertisers
the point here is that people who search and "click" on these bogus ads will stop "trusting" advertisements altogether because clicking on those ads does get annoying and discouraging so it is a fine point to make.
I would just leave those people alone... if they are dumb enough to waste their money with those websites. They will never rank high with their site and they will spend 3 to 4 times on advertising vs income. They are loosing their shirts doing this.
This is Old News. Google now has a system in place that charges you based on your landing page content Vs Keywords. The more relivant the keywords are to your landing page, the less money google will charge you per click, People can still advertise like this, however google will slap the hell out of them with super expensive clicks.. $5.-$10. Per Click.
This didnt "solve" the problem, but it slowed the "spam" down bigtime..
Thanks, I hate it when I land on an ad page that has nothing to do with what I'm looking for. Wastes my time and makes me skeptical of clicking on an ad in the first place. Google still has some great features but I have a low tolerance for ending up where I didn't want to go.
What about Thomasnet and Globalspec? When I google Ball Bearings they have an adword ad and then the user is sent to their "directory" which is paid inclusion.

I'm sorry but I don't understand what the fuss is all about. On the users' end, nobody points a gun at them and forces them to click on ads. They click because they are interested in what an ad has to offer. On the advertisers' end, they are willing to pay for peaple clicking on their ads. Sites - any sites, be it Google itself or an "ads-only" landing page - only increases the chance that the two ends meet. So please let economy run its course and don't try to interfere.
There is a limit to how many times people can click (or ask their friends to click) on their own ads, and Google catches many of those "self-clicks" anyhow. The vast majority of clicks on Adwords ads is still done by people who have a genuine interest in what the ads have to offer.
Great investigative reporting piece. Adsense arbitrage is still happening today and is widely taught as a make money strategy by "experts". Ultimately resulting in Adword bid prices getting more expensive for legitimate advertisers.
search "forklift" today and the same problem exists...one ad on the first results page is false, and clicking on "more sponsors" link you find that most of the ad results are false.
If you wanna help then start a petition, or something.
Most people know Google's full of crap but we can't do anything about it, emailing them probably won't get a response. To get support you need to make it easy for people to participate (in putting pressure on G).
I take the approach of taking money from these idiots - click the PPC ads and if you see it's full of crap just hit back and don't click their ads.
It's pretty obvious that those who are being clearly abusive towards what you've created are likely the ones that are actually benefiting from creating Google spam. Perhaps they should consider getting a legitimate job.
Well what this guy says makes sense. Ads plague the internet and a huge portion come from Google. I know, I used to work with them all the time. I hope one day they die out too. the internet is alredy full of enough useless garbage without adding to it.
You are just like the people who complain about spammers on here. You think they care about who is reporting them? This stuff is big business and people making money at it will always find a loophole no matter how many times you report them. This is alot of people's income and money is more important than "google abuse". Find another, more noble cause to support.
You know the old saying "If you cant beat em, join em". You found people who are using arbitrage with adwords, big deal. If you were smart, you might copy what they are doing so you can make money like them instead of whining to google about how they are breaking rules. And dont even start with "I have morals" or any crap like that because your morals dont mean anything when your wasting them by making videos like this instead of more serious issues that actually hurt people.
as I see it all the major search engines do it not just google and since they are making money why would they change.Really its a business which means profits first and your concern later. you think thinngs will change.
One thought is that the AdWords reps who evaluate each website's adherance to advertiser policies simply haven't gotten to these abusive sites yet because of the huge numbers of advertisers. I did an experiment. I used ad text that broke the rules of their guidlines and it took several weeks for the account to be suspended. Maybe the hiring rate of google employees can't keep up with the number of advertisers who join.
While google should care, they prolly dont as they are still getting clicks and revenue, even more so when someone clicks through to ads instead of one. VRE ad google cash do dtract from the internet, and I hope in the long term it is stamped out. Plus you don;t make as much money as if you did have a unique selling proposition and your own information.
When I found adwords abuse I wondered if it beats the current Adsense solution I am using ( adsenseloser . com ). And yes I did actually a search on adwords to find your video here.
Keep up the good work, and (needless to say) ignore people who only complain and have negative things to say. It's because of people like you that the public gets informed. So thanks again.
I don't know why you guys are freaking out so much about adword costs. I have an AdWord account, but I don't pay a dime thanks to my secret, check it out -
even if i disable the "content" advertising these ads will appear when users search on a keyword on Google. My ad won't appear on the content networks that's true but those fake pages still are taking the traffic away from my sites appearing in the main google search results.
You know... as an AdWords Advertiser, I totally get what he is saying. We are having to bid HIGH on my PPC to get any rank at all for a certain HOT keyword that we are 100% relevant in because of spam advertisers. Google is getting paid all the way around and making the Google advertising not so appealing or effective. h u m a t e p r o d u c t s. c o m
I see that you are very pasionate for this...but who gives a fuck dude? seriuously, I'am not trying to be a dick or anything...but who cares wbout them? I'am not paying for it......
For me this seems to be the abuse of "ADSENSE". This is not new, but also can be very easily fixed when you bid on adwords just disabling the "content" advertising. As always, you have to know the kind of weapon you have. right? best regards! good video!
anyone who buy product over my link will receive free keyword elite visit the page w w w . f r e e w e b s . c o m/xplodx all you have to do just order any of the product you see there and then post me here on private with subject "free keyword elite"
The complaint here is that Google isn't protecting advertisers who write poor ad text and overbid on keywords. If those same advertiseres wrote the best ad text and bid intelligently, they'd get the most clicks and there wouldn't be the price differential for arbitrageurs to exploit.
Note that arbitrage is common in financial markets - stocks, bonds, derivatives, commodities. Uneducated, uninformed rants are fun to construct, I'd suppose, but basically this is just intellectualized whining.
What is the address to "send an email to Google" as requested in your notes. Excellent idea.
I also need the email to file complaints about certain commentators who engage in racist, vulgar, defamatory and more unsavory comments. There are guidelines for posting videos, and surely there must be for comments as well. Where can we find this? Thanks for posting your excellent video.
My site gave people free AMVS and I used adsense. As soon as I earned over $70 they sent me an email saying they were keeping all my earnings and they don't even need to say why.
Google waits until the web designers have made at least 50 dollars but they usually wait until you have at least 75 in your adsense account because they will be able to keep all the profits as long as they don't send you a check. This is why google waits until you have earned 100.
I agree totally! I am a newbie Adwords advertiser, and I believe in presenting ads for quality products, services and information which is both relevant and useful to the person searching Google (or any other search engine for that matter). Perhaps you should apply to work as a Google Adwords editor/reviewer?
Yep. Google profits from all click fraudulent sites and landing sites. The only way Google will stop this is when Google's clients get tired of the crap and start leaving. THEN we will see a change.
Seems like they've "banned" this one. Didn't load yesterday, doesn't load today. If it's banned, why not just remove it? So annoying, wasting my time...
i didn't understand what you meant? and i still don't maybe you should make a "adwords abuse for Dummies" but i got what you were on about sort of when it came to clicking on something that still doesn't help you or just tells you what you already know.
I've stopped using google now, half of all results seem to be landing sites full of useless links. Or those sites where they've taken your search term and put it on the top of an otherwise useless page full of advertising.
Lastly, the max daily spend you set is not restricted to this value, but exceeds this in order to achieve an average of your max spend for 1 full month advertising campaign - even if you only advertise for 1 day. Don't get stung like I did; don't give them your credit card details!!!
Google automatically opt's you into their content providers, and unlike the search engine traffic they don't show you the traffic this will generate on their traffic estimator. As a result, the majority of fees I was charged was not from qualified search engine traffic, but unqualified from their content providers.
I had a very interesting experience with the GAW's pay per click system. When I first started I bid on my key words and the price was less than 20 cents. Very quickly the price went to over $1.oo. Not sure how that happens, but I finally cancelled the whole thing. I really felt like I was getting a lot of bogus clicks.
The reason for all this stuff is cybersquatting. People buy a domain and use one of those tricks to get traffic to it and sell it eventually. While they're marketing it, they might as well make some money through clicks. I'm pretty sure it's the reason why this is happening.
Stupid Google! They leave these kind of sites and ban mine for no reason they said one of the links(I have a links directory) i have in my site is hosting illegal files. I explained to them I do not have control over other people's site and they did not want to point which site is doing it. Still they ban me. But take a look at this stupid sites. Good job ppcabuse! Google Sucks!
If you haven't, Google has finally done something about it. The adwords system will now check relevancy of the target page and if it is different to the adwords then the advertiser gets charged a premium.
As a publisher Google would drop me like a hot potato if I used these tactics, but since these are advertisers they allow it (breaking their guidelines). I think the State Attorney General should see this.
a you are dump then, when the user cant find what he/she is looking for from the first ad he goes back and clicks on another ad, so this time it is 2x20cents, if every body does that it would add up to something, go suck an abacus
And by the way, great detective work. Do you really have nothing better to do? Why didn't you scroll on some of the pages with ads? Why didn't you give an approximate number for the amount of hits to these sites?
Current situation: User clicks an ad, more are shown which will link to real sites (as opposed to more "abusing" sites) or the "abusing" site will not profit. It's really not a problem. Snitch.
i remember when google stock came out at 80 bux a share i think? i thought how stupid, thats more than most companies, who would spend that kinda money?? so now, at almost 400 bux a share, the shit will hit the fan when google drops!
I have a different perspective as I am both an advertiser and shareholder.
1. Money at stake. I have no clue how much revenue these sites are making for both google and yahoo, but let's say if they represent 10% of revenue. How would you, as Yahoo and Google share holders, like to take a 10% hit to revenue and profit? Can you imagine what a 10% drop in revenue and profit would do to both of these stocks?
2. Quality: I advertise on both Google and Yahoo, and based on my analysis, the traffic from these sites are fine. Why? Let’s say a user goes to Yahoo, and searches for 'shoes'. They click on a Shopzilla ad which takes them to shopzilla. They don't like what they see, so they click on a Google ad that leads them to zappos. Zappos is receiving a click that has been filtered twice, and that’s why the quality of traffic is fine. In regards to quality of traffic, I have no problems.
SCENARIO #2: user searches for something, clicks on an ad that leads to a page of ads; she clicks on one ad which leads her to another vacuous landing page. noticing the trend, she clicks "back" twice to return to the search results pages... she proceeds to click on another ad but again is lead to a empty page.
so what is the harm? she loses confidence in the ads, and eventually stays away from them altogether; this not only ruins the user experience, it hurts ALL advertisers in the long run.
the harm caused is obvious to most, but some of you are still trying to obfuscate the issue. So, let us imagine two different scenarios. SCENARIO #1: user searches for something, finds what she wants and clicks to visit – she is satisfied with the result and completes her session. this is the experience that the search engines hope to provide.
I would recommend reporting each individual site that violates Google's terms of service (8bestsites, seekful, etc) to google. Then Goolge will know which sites and accounts they may need to take action against.
I forwarded this to a friend that works at google and they'll send it directly to some adwords fraud people.
Google is constantly battling click fraud, link farms, and the type of sites discussed in the video. I honestly believe that google is doing everything they can to stop fruad of all sorts. Google appears to abide by "do no evil".
google has always put user-experience first, and they will eventually shut this practice down - they are just dragging their feet on this one.
the trust that users have of ads will continue to erode and eventually, they may rely on ads less and less. in the end this is a clear threat to all legitimate advertisers.
take a look at the landing pages of these sites, some of their advertisers are using the same techniques! So, as the trend continues, users will click on one such ad, only to be delivered to another worthless landing page and click on another worthless ad. when is this problem bad enough - when the user has to click through 5 content-less sites... 10? google should just nip this problem in the bud, and require sites to abide by their own reasonable guidelines.
its pretty funny to see people come out and defend these practices. if you watch the video, it is very clear; these sites are breaking the adwords guidelines that legitimate advertisers abide by. a "level playing field" is a requirement of any healthy platform.
it would be pretty enlightening to see the adwords accounts of those who claim that no harm is done to other advertisers. don’t forget that these sites are created programatically, so their numbers are exploding.
ppcabuse: "its pretty funny to see people come out and defend these practices."
Isn't it incredible? One would think that these "defenders" were somehow "getting paid." People are so gullible, and will swallow just about anything, and then come crying later on "I didn't know!"
Thanks for posting this most informative video. In the year since you posted it, has anything changed?
First of all, I cannot comprehend how this form of advertising hurts the customer? They find exactly what they would be looking for in all of your referenced cases.Secondly I can't see how this would hurt advertisors. I see a great deal of traffic come from these sites, and since I am paying for that traffic I am happy to recieve it. Much like any new approach to anything, there are those who immediately panic, expect the worst and start squealing to any one who will listen.
This video hits the nail on the head. It explains why I am getting Yahoo Sponsored Search traffic from unknown sites like alltheindustrials.com. The search engines NEED TO PUT A STOP to this. Traffic from those unknown sites does not convert and just drains the advertising budget.
If your traffic isn't converting, it likely has more to do with your site and your presentation. I get traffic from these types of sites and I find they convert better in most cases then any other. Redo your sales letter or something.
great job... thanks for the effort.... I am curious why you think they are all not using the same AdSense account... keep them seprate so if one goes they don't all go.

This stuff is big business and people making money at it will always find a loophole no matter how many times you report them. This is alot of people's income and money is more important than "google abuse". Find another, more noble cause to support.
TV4PC 3 years ago
You know the old saying "If you cant beat em, join em". You found people who are using arbitrage with adwords, big deal. If you were smart, you might copy what they are doing so you can make money like them instead of whining to google about how they are breaking rules. And dont even start with "I have morals" or any crap like that because your morals dont mean anything when your wasting them by making videos like this instead of more serious issues that actually hurt people.
TV4PC 3 years ago
as I see it all the major search engines do it not just google and since they are making money why would they change.Really its a business which means profits first and your concern later. you think thinngs will change.

Maybe the hiring rate of google employees can't keep up with the number of advertisers who join.
chillaxinSF 4 years ago
While google should care, they prolly dont as they are still getting clicks and revenue, even more so when someone clicks through to ads instead of one. VRE ad google cash do dtract from the internet, and I hope in the long term it is stamped out. Plus you don;t make as much money as if you did have a unique selling proposition and your own information.

even if i disable the "content" advertising these ads will appear when users search on a keyword on Google.

Google is getting paid all the way around and making the Google advertising not so appealing or effective. h u m a t e p r o d u c t s. c o m

Take care when using the word "adwords".
For me this seems to be the abuse of "ADSENSE". This is not new, but also can be very easily fixed when you bid on adwords just disabling the "content" advertising. As always, you have to know the kind of weapon you have. right? best regards! good video!

Nicholai420 4 years ago
Google waits until the web designers have made at least 50 dollars but they usually wait until you have at least 75 in your adsense account because they will be able to keep all the profits as long as they don't send you a check. This is why google waits until you have earned 100.
Nicholai420 4 years ago
yes this is very annoying as it is spoiling not only the consumer experience but also not fair on the advertiser.

I agree totally! I am a newbie Adwords advertiser, and I believe in presenting ads for quality products, services and information which is both relevant and useful to the person searching Google (or any other search engine for that matter). Perhaps you should apply to work as a Google Adwords editor/reviewer?

Lastly, the max daily spend you set is not restricted to this value, but exceeds this in order to achieve an average of your max spend for 1 full month advertising campaign - even if you only advertise for 1 day. Don't get stung like I did; don't give them your credit card details!!!

Google automatically opt's you into their content providers, and unlike the search engine traffic they don't show you the traffic this will generate on their traffic estimator. As a result, the majority of fees I was charged was not from qualified search engine traffic, but unqualified from their content providers.
shaggye23 5 years ago
I had a very interesting experience with the GAW's pay per click system. When I first started I bid on my key words and the price was less than 20 cents. Very quickly the price went to over $1.oo. Not sure how that happens, but I finally cancelled the whole thing. I really felt like I was getting a lot of bogus clicks.
Keveeee2000 5 years ago
Dude! I just wanted to point out something.

If you haven't, Google has finally done something about it. The adwords system will now check relevancy of the target page and if it is different to the adwords then the advertiser gets charged a premium.

I don't get how these guys profit..
They have to pay like a $1 for each click.. and they'll get like 20 cents for clicks on their ads.
hmm... I guess if the user decides to start searching on their site and keep going back to search for other things.. it'll work.
kenji4861 5 years ago
a you are dump then, when the user cant find what he/she is looking for from the first ad he goes back and clicks on another ad, so this time it is 2x20cents, if every body does that it would add up to something, go suck an abacus
zamazalotta 4 years ago
And by the way, great detective work. Do you really have nothing better to do? Why didn't you scroll on some of the pages with ads? Why didn't you give an approximate number for the amount of hits to these sites?
Current situation: User clicks an ad, more are shown which will link to real sites (as opposed to more "abusing" sites) or the "abusing" site will not profit. It's really not a problem. Snitch.
(My previous comments were satire.)

Can you imagine what a 10% drop in revenue and profit would do to both of these stocks?
mikecarlick 5 years ago
could be a larger than 10% drop if no one clicks ads anymore
oddmodern 5 years ago
In regards to quality of traffic, I have no problems.
mikecarlick 5 years ago
SCENARIO #2: user searches for something, clicks on an ad that leads to a page of ads; she clicks on one ad which leads her to another vacuous landing page. noticing the trend, she clicks "back" twice to return to the search results pages... she proceeds to click on another ad but again is lead to a empty page.
so what is the harm? she loses confidence in the ads, and eventually stays away from them altogether; this not only ruins the user experience, it hurts ALL advertisers in the long run.
ppcabuse 5 years ago
the harm caused is obvious to most, but some of you are still trying to obfuscate the issue. So, let us imagine two different scenarios. SCENARIO #1: user searches for something, finds what she wants and clicks to visit – she is satisfied with the result and completes her session. this is the experience that the search engines hope to provide.
ppcabuse 5 years ago
I would recommend reporting each individual site that violates Google's terms of service (8bestsites, seekful, etc) to google. Then Goolge will know which sites and accounts they may need to take action against.
bugmenotyouboob 5 years ago
I forwarded this to a friend that works at google and they'll send it directly to some adwords fraud people.
Google is constantly battling click fraud, link farms, and the type of sites discussed in the video. I honestly believe that google is doing everything they can to stop fruad of all sorts. Google appears to abide by "do no evil".

google has always put user-experience first, and they will eventually shut this practice down - they are just dragging their feet on this one.
the trust that users have of ads will continue to erode and eventually, they may rely on ads less and less. in the end this is a clear threat to all legitimate advertisers.
ppcabuse 5 years ago
take a look at the landing pages of these sites, some of their advertisers are using the same techniques! So, as the trend continues, users will click on one such ad, only to be delivered to another worthless landing page and click on another worthless ad. when is this problem bad enough - when the user has to click through 5 content-less sites... 10? google should just nip this problem in the bud, and require sites to abide by their own reasonable guidelines.
ppcabuse 5 years ago
its pretty funny to see people come out and defend these practices. if you watch the video, it is very clear; these sites are breaking the adwords guidelines that legitimate advertisers abide by. a "level playing field" is a requirement of any healthy platform.
it would be pretty enlightening to see the adwords accounts of those who claim that no harm is done to other advertisers. don’t forget that these sites are created programatically, so their numbers are exploding.
ppcabuse 5 years ago
ppcabuse: "its pretty funny to see people come out and defend these practices."
Isn't it incredible? One would think that these "defenders" were somehow "getting paid." People are so gullible, and will swallow just about anything, and then come crying later on "I didn't know!"
Thanks for posting this most informative video. In the year since you posted it, has anything changed?
catherinetodd 4 years ago
First of all, I cannot comprehend how this form of advertising hurts the customer? They find exactly what they would be looking for in all of your referenced cases.Secondly I can't see how this would hurt advertisors. I see a great deal of traffic come from these sites, and since I am paying for that traffic I am happy to recieve it. Much like any new approach to anything, there are those who immediately panic, expect the worst and start squealing to any one who will listen.
rtcase 5 years ago
How is this harmful to advertisers?
People clicking on the adverts, in theory, should be people wanting to find out something that matches the advertisers advert?
So they get the visitor they pay for, which, if the business is anhy good, will get the sale in the end.
Big deal.
This video seems to be put together by somebody whinging because they've been banned from AdWords/Adsense/Google and can't make their pennies.

This video hits the nail on the head. It explains why I am getting Yahoo Sponsored Search traffic from unknown sites like alltheindustrials.com. The search engines NEED TO PUT A STOP to this. Traffic from those unknown sites does not convert and just drains the advertising budget.
ibmrg 5 years ago
If your traffic isn't converting, it likely has more to do with your site and your presentation. I get traffic from these types of sites and I find they convert better in most cases then any other. Redo your sales letter or something.
