Dude that sounds mean as hell! Let me ask this though, will this make you lose power? Honestly, I don't race lol so it wouldn't matter but regardless I'd kill to have such a sound.
hey. is it legal to have no muffler and straight pipes do you know? because im about to buy a crossfire and i love the way it sounds but im wondering if its legal or not because of the emmisions or something. Please help me.
Well it is illegal but, since i am a Certified Vehical inspector for texas, it was not a problem for me. and The muffler does not control your emmisions your Cats do. and i left those on their. all the muffler is, is a silencer.
@13lamborghini13 Wow so it's okay for you to do it since you are a vehical inspector yet if someone else does it its illegal. Just like cops do their own stuff and think its legal for them, because they are cops...
emissions are controlled by the catalytic converter which is not in your muffler. cops will be looking for you when they hear how loud you are though.
What helps improve more horsepower are two things, more air and fuel. If you can supply more air or gas to the engine than you will see more horsepower. Why do you think people buy aftermarket air intakes, and fuel injectors. Of coarse intakes help produce more power dumbass.
No shit, kiddo. People have this fascination that these bolt on parts produce horsepower though, as if they're inside of the engine, pushing that piston down, and turning the crankshaft.
Bolt on products have their limits, there's only so much you can do with stock pistons, stock rods, a stock crankshaft, a stock camshaft. Although a stock camshaft works great in the case of a turbocharged application.
Also, you forgot some things, temperature, compression, unsprung mass.
Mostly unsprung mass, say you have the typical V8, which has a connecting rod that typically weighs in the 650-800 Gram range, depending on rod length. A typical forged rod will weigh up to 100 Grams less, the engine is essentially throwing less mass around, therefore getting more power efficiently through the engine.
Do some research before you reply with the BS basics of an engine, as if I'm some school boy.
Wow that's funny, in your comment you never admitted that you were wrong or right. Are you confused or someone with just a big ego. I never said it produced a whole lot more power but it does. That is why Air intakes sell so well because they don't require a major over haul such as a cam and/or crank swap. For the typical person it only takes a very few basic tools and it DOES improve your power, no matter how little or not.
I'm just saying, air intakes do not produce power, they provide freer flowing, typically colder air, which will lead to small gains on a stock-mild engine.
No doubt that simple exhaust/intake mods improve power, but not by much.
It's all marketing. K&N will advertise the typical 8 horsepower gain, but odds are, most people never see, or feel that gain for that matter.
How can you sit here and say it "doesn't produce power" and then say in the very next sentence you will see "small gains". I understand that you want to see the torque gains as well as the hp gains, but most company's provide that info, and explain to me what you would do with a diesel because a simple programmer can easily add 100 horsepower and 160 foot pounds of torque which is proven with dyno runs as well as the results people see while towing, and that's not touching the internals at all.
Do you realize there is a DIFFERENCE from them parts specifically producing power, and seeing GAINS from the increased or and/or fuel flow due to them being bolted on?
Jesus christ, you're arguing about elementary car knowledge. Air intakes or fuel injectors do not add power, they allow it to enter the cylinder and be created.
I realize that you can add monstrous amounts of power to Diesels with a tuner.
Furthermore I bet a simple cold air intake, aftermarket exhaust, and programmer will produce up to 20 - 25% more horsepower which is substantial gain for anybody. Especially considering the average joe can do the job.
Furthermore! People should really request to see torque gains for a specific part. Think about it, they will be modding a stock motor, not raising the rev limiter and rebuilding with forged internals, to spin an extra 2,000 RPM, to produce a higher peak power.
Horsepower = Torque X Engine RPM / 5,252.
My point is, a simple air intake does not produce power, it essentially provides a better platform for that power, allowing fuel to be further airated, and eventually burn more completely.
Do you have a video cmondragon? What did you do

Sounds pretty bad!
In top of things, its automatic...! It only cost me $400 to get a custom work and it sounds way better. No offense dude, you rice out your crossfire!

love the crossfire, but even a full intake wont even produce 10whp. youll see like 2-3 at the wheels.

Intakes don't produce power at all. They simple supply air.
