Let me make a point about your mans ignorance about fitness and training. Focal point training and specifics do not catogorize these athletes to be donned the fittest people on earh. There are a multitude of examples I coud put foreward to quash an outlandish claim as the fittest people on earth. i teach mma and i had two crossfit guys they could hang wit my workouts and i killed them and when i did their workout it was a'lot of stuff i already train for mma but the way they do it i think is more fun and they were i bit stronger but im only 155 and they were over 200 but that still ment nothing when we took it to the mat it didn't help them at all but still crossfit good way to train

I don't see why everyone is trying to downplay CrossFit. I am a soccer player I played and trained in the Olympic Development Program for 4 years. Every athlete trains to a specific style. You can't compare elite Crossfitters to other elite athletes. Just as you said yourself, a football player cannot do the same things as boxer, or Olympic sprinter, or a swimmer. None of them can match the other since it is what they SPECIALIZE in. So please stop being immature and appreciate hard work.

I love cross-fit but KevinS9192 is right. It's all in the context and sepcific to the fitness required. Just the same as all the BS MMA claims, they're good in a cage with rules but.... Having said that these guys are seriously awesome and this type of training is just the best for those of us who aspire to a heath and fitness lifestyle. I think the truest claim is the "fittest cross-fit althlete in the world"... and that is something to behold and be very proud of.

Any sports competition will become "specialized." While the Crossfit competitions cover a wide range of disciplines, these athletes have trained specifically using the crossfit program, and they define fitness by what crossfit sees as fitness. If a 15k was part of the Crossfit games, the athletes would surely look and train differently, but they wouldn't be any more/less fit. Just different.
and again, olympic athletes are specialized. how can you say that olympic athletes are the fittest in the world? it has nothing to do with fitness, it is a competition of skills. the worlds best 100m sprinter will SUCK at marathon running. the record holder in the discus will SUCK at sprinting. how do these people have claim to the fittest? you're confusing being the fittest and being the best at an activity as the same thing. @ArCxlioN I'll say decathletes (who are Olympic athletes...) are the fittest in the world. When a crossfit champion can run a sub 5 min mile and powerclean 350lbs+ (like top decathletes can) then I'll call them the fittest. The top men at this years cross fit games were god awful at running....

@KevinS9192 - The Xfit games includes swimming btw, so you're wrong in that point. As a former boxer, I can tell you that 99% of boxing is stamina and Xfitters have that, since they're forced to run miles at a time. These are pure athletes. You need an overall body fitness to excel at Xfit and you simply wouldn't survive w/out stamina. I think it's a legit claim to "fittest man/woman on earth" - try it before you give your uneducated opinion.

Getting to the point where you can run 5:00 miles for 26.2 is on an entirely different level than getting to the point to compete in the CF games and that's a fact.

CrossFit is not a specialized fitness program, but a deliberate attempt to optimize physical competence in each of 10 recognized fitness domains... key word COMPETANCE... not elite or whatevr.. the best programming for sports is doing the sport with a programme degisned specifically tailored to the demands of the sport.. not 100 push up followed by 100 push ups..
i agree, its better than people sitting around watching their asses grow infront of tv.. the programming is a concern tho, i mean doing all those dips or whtevr exercise is not going to be too good for shoulder joint integrity in the long run.. but its not me that has to do it... many crossfit gym owners are aware of this tho they have other qualifications dont do the WOD...
But (powerlifter at heart) dips are a great way to strengthen triceps and chest, great assistance exercise. One of Wendler's favorite excercise though. But as with all assistance, dont over do it. Assistance is like mustard. Some mustard is great on a sandwich, but eat a bowlful of mustard and your a blinkin retard :D
there are no bad exercises only bad programming.. dips are a great exercise, as are olympic lifts and all the other exercises crossfitters do it the way they are programmed that most people in the industry are concerned with..

@1mbk - Can you actually prove this? Last time I checked gym junkies couldn't keep up and people participating in real sports improved their performance due to crossfit...

CrossFit is not a specialized fitness program, but a deliberate attempt to optimize physical competence in each of 10 recognized fitness domains... key word COMPETANCE... not elite or whatevr.. the best programming for sports is doing the sport with a programme degisned specifically tailored to the demands of the sport.. not 100 push up followed by 100 push ups..

yup, thats why rip himself no longer endorses crossfit. But still, its a good way to bet people in better shape.

i agree, its better than people sitting around watching their asses grow infront of tv.. the programming is a concern tho, i mean doing all those dips or whtevr exercise is not going to be too good for shoulder joint integrity in the long run.. but its not me that has to do it... many crossfit gym owners are aware of this tho they have other qualifications dont do the WOD...

But (powerlifter at heart) dips are a great way to strengthen triceps and chest, great assistance exercise. One of Wendler's favorite excercise though. But as with all assistance, dont over do it. Assistance is like mustard. Some mustard is great on a sandwich, but eat a bowlful of mustard and your a blinkin retard :D

there are no bad exercises only bad programming.. dips are a great exercise, as are olympic lifts and all the other exercises crossfitters do it the way they are programmed that most people in the industry are concerned with..
