I thought both were really good. I liked the story of butcher bay more but the environment was more enjoyable in dark athena though. In both games the planets when your outside are beautiful.
While this is a good game- Its good to keep in mind that it is a stealth game, finding out the hard way. I find the game immensely difficult, as I don't play stealth games.
@InsideTheMirror you know,some sections of the original (like the final boss battle) are made harder. The Security checkpoint (i think that's the part with one guard talking to a riot guard and near a box and the shadows another guard) is made easier.

I was playing the Xbox version yesterday and for some reason the game looks like ass. I don't know if the graphics aren't as good as I remembered or something wrong with my disc, but it looked heavily jaggie and the NPC's you talk to don't look like they were "focused" in the shot. @sonicromer Actualy this is not the graphics for the xbox1 version. This is the Remastered version of Escape From Butcher Bay, its graphics are updated and its only for the ps3/xbox360/pc , the original xbox woudnt be able to handle this remastered version im afraid. But the original Escape From Butcher Bay that was for Pc/xbox still has great graphics tho, kinda looks like an Idtech 4 engine game(doom/quake4/prey) but its using a different engine.

@SONGOKU02 The remake/remastered version is pretty much just an updated version. They changed its engine and used the engine Dark Athena uses thats why the graphics and gameplay are different, But everything else is the same.

oh yea, sry about the double post, but the enviroment is like a perfect blend of Killzone 2 and Halo. It has that rugged war-like feel of Killzone 2 and the specularity and high-techness of Halo's non...covanent ships (I forgot who the human team was -_-) and it looks a-fuckin-mazing

I think the original looks better in every way. The blur is just annoying, the characters faces looks plain, lipsync sucks, lighteffects are more clear and batter in original, the AI is so fucked up... But its a great remake even thogh it has some bad things.... =) (Gotta love the original)

The game is actually very hard the first day you get it. Once you get the hang of things like how to disable cameras, bait tough enemies, etc. it gets a lot easier. The biggest gripe I have with these games is pitting you in situations where you HAVE to take damage; it's just a matter of how much, and also not having a real map that tells you where you are/where to go. Dark Athena was better mostly because you were able to use guns more than just 2 times in the game, unlike Butcher Bay.
2:37 Fortress I fuckin love that movie. it was so underrated, you can probably get the best experience out of this game by buying the PC version. I think the loading times are shorter. not sure.

This probably one of the most under hyped "great games" out there. The original escape from butcher's bay, is notable not only because it was a great game in general, but that it was a game based off of a movie. Designing a good game based on a movie has to be one of THE HARDEST tasks out there for any developer based on the number of lackluster titles out there. This and other titles like KOTR show that you don't need to follow the films events, but rather expand on the fictional universe.
Excellent game. great controls and features, great difficulty, no handholding. I wish Vin would make more of these games instead of that stupid Wheelman nonsense.
@synapse913 wheelman was alright...it was sort of different. its a nice pace from games attemping then really failing at realism but they keep on trying it anyway...yes, gta 4. i like gta 4 but the realism attempts fail. where as wheelman never attempted realism at all and is deliberatly over the top...a nice break and change of pace
ya IF you get the new Riddick game for 360 its COMES with this game rebuilt on a new game engine including tons of extras =) So you an play them back to back or in any order you want. not bad getting BOTH Riddik games for the price of one!

This is one of the best games I've played, I just loved shooting all the lights and then hiding and turning nightvision on, and then sneak up and ram my screwdriver up a guard's back.

ya IF you get the new Riddick game for 360 its COMES with this game rebuilt on a new game engine including tons of extras =) So you an play them back to back or in any order you want. not bad getting BOTH Riddik games for the price of one!

this game is probably the best game I have played on my Xbox 360. When I heard about this game i was so stoked because it had the first game remastered (which i never played) and the sequel on one disc. what more could u ask for

This is one of the best games I've played, I just loved shooting all the lights and then hiding and turning nightvision on, and then sneak up and ram my screwdriver up a guard's back.

Is there any difference between the original and dark athena compilation versions? Cuz i prefer my original xbox to the ps3 and 360, i don't want to have to pay £35 more than i have to.

But dude, you get bucther bay for free, no extra charge, when you buy Dark Athena. That is what is so sweet :)

the 360 version does look a bit better than the ps3. I played both side by side and noticed the antialiasing is much better on the 360.
