This game is a shame 4 Contra Fans This contral looks like a game called Shock Troppers (a Neo-Geo game from Snk). 4 Me the best Contra Games are The Original Contra. The Contra Adventure Psx. And the Shatttered Soldier Contra Ps2. The Presence of a female Character was Great. And in the Neo Contra, she was Bad WTH!!??. Lucia was Cool. and what a Samurai 4???? O_o. 4 a Training Project and new guys, its Good game but this novice guys should know better what Contra means.
Yeah but the PS1 Contra games are pretty much looked down upon by most Contra series fans. Neo Contra was decent but the other two for PS1 by Appaloosa were just horrible. Contra 1(NES version), Super C (NES version), Contra III, Hard Corps, Shattered Soldier, and now Contra IV are pretty much the top tier stuff.
Training Project and new guys, its Good game but this novice guys should know better what Contra means. I unde stand you're view but most people dont care about the whole generation thing their trying to stick to an age groupe or a certain type of groupe not an old generation why they want to make money sure you can can debate me on how they would of made more with old styled gameplay contra games and such things but the point is they did on purpose and they used the name only to get more sales
I wish people wouldn't hate on this game so much. It was a training project for a group of new employess at Konami and they did a pretty good job for a first action title if you ask me. It's full of self-parody and in-jokes as well, which always gets extra points in my books. Plus the music is *awesome*.
this game is fun but gets old bc you when you memorize all the spots the enimies(that's spelled wrong) are you can get a S which is the highest ranking in no time.
@Commandodudes eh, I disagree - i think these are much more fun to play due to the graphics, cutscenes, newer & flashier wepons ect. I just wish they were as long as the older versions. :>
Still working on finding another firewire card. My current new motherboard doesnt have a firewire port, and the new case im using does...but the motherboard doesnt have an input for that either. So now i've gotta find a firewire card thats Vista 64 compatible.
I agree about Contra IV. I have been waiting for a true spiritual sequel to Contra III for about 12 years. I also realize there will be a 'hook-arm' function, which resembles a bit of the game dynamics of one of my favs, Bionic Commando for NES. I am hoping IV is going to rock.

Well imo Contra: Shattered Soldier is still closer to a true contra game than NEO. Really its up there with the top to me. Its more or less like a Contra hard corps style "boss rush" game.

At first I was disappointed by NEO Contra. I was expecting something closer to Contra III. Its pretty fun once you get the hang of it though. The sound design for the boss at the end of the stage is amazing! The baby's garbled glitche-voice works very well.
Yup, I was skeptical about Neo-contra at first, but then I just went for it (it was cheap on Amazon). After playing, its damn worthy of the Contra name (at least more so than those PS1 games made by appalooza). Cant wait for Contra IV!

Contra is amazing...this is not. I'll always have a special plays in my thumbs for shattered soldier and alien wars.

Yeah...
1 hit = death.
If it's any consolation, I have the gaming reflexes of a rock and I still managed to beat the final boss and get the good ending.
A couple of playthrus on easy and you're good for the "toughest" setting.

Best Contra still is Contra Hard Corps for the Genesis.
Everything is perfect: The speed, the timing, the grafics are awesome, the music is killer.

Disagree. Speed's too fast, and I'd really like the option to fire from a fixed angle like in Contra 3.
...I still think it's a vastly underrated game, though. It really kicks serious ass.
