What I know about the dams we have, is that they supply clean renewable energy, and prevent the worst aspects of drought. How do you determine "value time"?
the value time of those big dams is very short... this is internationaly known. reports of the oecd or the world bank proof, so that this argument is crap.
the batman dam: the new builded village has no asphalted streets, no school, no mosque and not even a name! it is nameless! source: NZZ, 17. Okt. 2006, S. 4
the birecik- dam: the mayor of the new builded village "new halfeti" told a german newspaper this --> "adversity is the situation of new halfeti, the people ended in poorness." source: FAZ, printversion, 11. Nov. 2006, S. 3
what about the human at the birecik dam?their new village have no water supply or even a mosque. is that infra structure? moreover the government promised some reparations for the people. it is witnessed that only a few get some money for their piece of country, the others are forced to live in slums. this ain´t progress. what about the people in syria and iraq?farmers in iraq reported that they have salt cristals on their field because of less water. the water of tigris belongs everybody!
human needs education! education is the highest property in a globalized and knowledge- based society... instead of building dams they should build schools!

No one knows even what these caves keep in side! Only by accident they have found for example library what was from 6000 etc...
I was in Hasankeyf 1 month ago. People have to see that all so they can understand what this world and all of us will loose if they distroy it. Its most beatiful plase in earth where I have ever been. That all history... you get in it!! You can feel it !!

The electricity generated by the dam, and the drought fighting ability of the lake, will be of great practical benefit.

You are wrong about the Ilisu dam, it must be build, region needs water and power
There were 11 major Empires made Turkey home in the past, if we stop every peogress in the name of history we will never advance,
if the World wants to turn Turksy in to museum than they shold also pay for it.
everywhere you dig you find something in Turkey
so lets get real and stop this non sense.
ILISU DAM MUST BE BUILD
