  • ma a chi prende per il culo questo?

    LO SCRATCH A 0:46 E' REGISTRATO

At 0:46 THE SCRATCH AND 'IN PLAYBACK

  • No offense but DJs sound all the same to me, when you guys play a real instrument i'll give you more credit.

    Cool iPad app though

  • @frankko24 true!

  • guys he took it from here : user/djaysoftware#p/u/1/afZKn2ufHCE

  • fake

  • can any body give us the tones that was used in the dj video ?

  • how did you get the crossfader to do the work for you when you was scratching?

  • @DJmiserableCunt

    Right...it looks a fake...fader changing without touch

  • @alfdj actually i was checking another vid n think it just cuts in n out on its own

  • This software will destroy djs? Good, maybe people will start to appreciate the difficulty of learning to play an instrument, and maybe they'll learn themselves and start to make new music.

And that's instead of thinking that learning how to spin/mix records etc is an art form worthy of the same level of appreciation and respect.

  • @bootayjam you clearly miss the point of what most DJs do. For one, many DJs are also producers with formal musical training, who play their own tracks along with those of their contemporaries. Just because you can't appreciate it doesn't mean you should feel obliged to insult it.

  • @xfenwrathx

I'm talking about bedroom djs+ who play the world over in small clubs, even big clubs. A lot of them are NOT producers in any way, and don't add anything creative.

Dj'ing so popular not just thru the music, it's the fact that it's EASY. Go and sit down with a guitar/drumkit/keyboard for 4 hrs, 1 day, a week, hell, 1 month & see what you think. Made much music? And if you say dj'ing is just as hard, then you must be missing opposable thumbs and fingers, if so then fair enough.

  • @bootayjam to be fair turntablism is pretty much on the same level as an instrument, it just depends how in depth you wanna go with it

  • @mikaris01 : Never gonna happen. This won't replace a good DJ.

Unless it's something like an ISP, Swamp, or Z-Trip show (specifically promoted to showcase technical ability), it's not gonna destroy DJing. Except in those areas, DJing isn't about technical ability, it's about track selection and networking. Amazing DJs can clear a dance floor because of poor track selection, and terribad DJs can make everyone dance with the right tracks and the right connections.

  • wats the name of that song u was scratching 2 fresh?

  • @Mikaris01 you seem to forget that dj's only play other people's records. so it doesn't matter if you are a good or a bad dj. you are still playing other people's music.....so stop crying and enjoy the app :)

  • sounds like donald duck music to me. Go to menu File > Exit

  • You know what no matter what int he end despite the equipment. If you want to be a good DJ you need to have good taste. So even if there's some shitty djs using this as long as they somewhat now how to transition and no how to pick songs that transition well together and are songs that people like, kudos to them. And if this app does it for them then that's fine. What people also forget is that regardless of the utility, No wants want to see some dj just sit around using his iPad.shits weak

  • A great DJ/Entertainer will never be replaced by technology...a crappy one, definetively

  • People are calling this app a toy, what did you expect for $20. For what it is it's amazing. You

  • I agree with Mikaris01. This stuff eliminates the need for a real DJ and reduces the pay for all DJs.

Might be cool to use at home but not at a club or club environment.

  • Show de bola.

  • at 0:50 the mix slider goes out of control and the right hand scratching doesn't even come close to the sound .......... uh?

  • @vileguile4 it's their "Auto Cut Scratching" feature they borrowed from their PC/Mac version. Like most people are saying here -- this def does not replace an industry skilled DJ :)

  • do*

  • How to you get that basic music to mix?

  • This app's got crap for tech. The mix quality is bad. Plus with no cue out, this is just a toy

  • needs way more torque on those decks + the sample stutter button is a bit off. With time though this sort of thing will replace decks. The sound quality would be a major issue though, wouldn't stand a chance on a real club system

  • Cool.

  • omg he makes it look so easy!

  • AWESOME, but so expensive. It needs a free version, limited to, say, 30 seconds or something - just enough to get a taste.

  • run talk

  • I love this thing, best app so far

  • OMG this app HAS to come out on iPhone or iPod I want it!!!!!!

  • can you mix your own songs, if not this sucks

  • @fataldesain itunes library = your own songs

  • I am sure this is not a real app for DJ's, but its fun to regular users who like to use the iPad on a party to impress friends. But on time, it will be a real useful app to pro's. Then it will come a new gen of DJ's. Life is always like that. Adapt, use, change and grow. Good Luck.

Hey, post a video pls! I have tons of questions. i.e. preview on headphones? how to use my full iTunes Library (WiFi)?Pre-Cueing, real? its sending music either to left or right speakers, but not to headphones.

  • @angex79 split audio left channel main speakers right channel earphones, itunes library

  • It lags. No real application for DJ's. If you could make the latency similar to Serato, it might be a fun controller.

  • I want this for the table that microsoft has made.

  • im buy for ipad houahh its great job app now congrat mans its amazing :);)

  • I just posted a better demonstration for this app.

    Impressive.

    djay Rocks!

  • @djscratchdog awesome demo! i'm not a dj at all... but this app looks pretty fun...

  • artists appreciate all tools.

  • I have no idea why anyone is jumping so far ahead to suggest bringing this to a club; talk about a lack of control:

To those curious there are a number of tracks out there that don't even come up the correct BPM on Pioneer MK3's...

@Shad0wBenny yeah sure the Dj Mp3 player idea has potential, but I would forget about the iPad as the weapon of choice. I can't imagine accurate pitch control on an iPad, and with sweaty hands at the end of the night?

  • what a waste.

  • Goredsox: Don't be so narrow minded. I am one of those old DJS. I have had 1210s, CDJ 1000s etc etc. Typing this message out on an old typewriter and mailing it to your dumb ass wouldn't more or less insight in to where the on screen keyboard on my iPad was derived from any more than sticking to playing my vinyl rather than MP3s, which I still do. Mention the name Grand Master Flash to any self respecting DJ and they will know a little about where the art came from. If you need a history lesson

  • Are DJ Mixer 3 or MIXR better or worser?

  • what the FUCK is this!?!

no ones even gonna remember where DJing came from!!!!!!!!!

fuckin posers and their bullshit toys

  • It definitely doesn't replace the pro equipment, but here's the bad thing...stuff like this will destroy dj's. The problem is, the regular people can't tell the difference. Of course it'll sound like shit to other dj's but we're not the ones filling the clubs. We all know shitty dj's get booked constantly because high level dj skills are only appreciated by other dj's. This will make it worse since a crappy dj will sound good enough to untrained ears, they won't spend money on a real dj.

  • @mikaris01 A lot of people whined when DJs began to replace bands at clubs and bars.

  • @mattkraj

But that's different. Bands and dj's bring completely different things to the table.

This will have people trying to do the exact same thing as a well trained dj, just not as good. But then that waters down peoples expectations of what real djing is about and destroys the art because then the art won't be recognized.

The equivalent would be if clubs stopped booking real bands and only booked the free bands from middle school that just learned to play (and not well).

  • @mikaris01 Good analogy.

  • @mikaris01 if a DJ is truly good, he doesn't have to worry about a little app like this.

  • @radrider82

Sure they do. It's not the dj's skills in question, it's marketing and job security. People don't book the best dj's, they book who they can get for cheap. Apps like this make wack dj's sound good enough as far as ignorant promoters go, so they'll book them for pennies stealing work out the mouths of real talented dj's because to the untrained ear it's close enough. It destroys the perception of the art, that messes up employability.

  • @mikaris01 I agree. Vinyl all the way or at least final scratch. Forget about ipad and dj apps. They suck.

  • @mikaris01 That's called evolution. "Real" DJ's will have to stop sitting on their butts and get to innovating what they do. Drummers are still around years after the invention of the drum machine because they innovated, incorporated, and evolved with the times. DJ's will have to do the same or, I agree, this will destroy them.

  • @mikaris01 The issue is that every profession is the same. Ownership is the future so if your a DJ you want to start thinking about owning just like every other profession since even in the medical field people are been laid off and finding jobs not that easy once you pass that magical number 60 a year number.

  • @mikaris01 true im a professional dj and i agree lets boycott!!!

  • the lyrics interfeare with the beat and mess it up

  • bpm counters dont work for all hip hop so there still is a need for trad mixing

  • Question - how do you monitor with earphones AND output the mix to speakers when there's only one audio output?

  • @DistantJ EXACTLY!! GREAT QUESTION!!

At least on the mac you can throw on a set of usb phones. It makes you have to switch phones for working with the mac djay and my regular cd rig, but not a big deal.

  • @DistantJ You split it.

  • @DistantJ it s called a stereo / mono split...

  • @DistantJ you need to buy the special app headphone splitter

  • @DistantJ

somebody might have already said it ,but you can buy an audio splitter and use it. they don't just make them for the ipad but for everything, so no worries on prices or find it.

  • @DistantJ WiFi + AirPlay + headphones.

  • @DistantJ u have a dual plug witch is 1 out into 2 :)

  • @DistantJ You buy the Split Output Adapter that turns your 1 audio output into 2.

  • @DistantJ A splitter?

  • @DistantJ Exactly - another itoy

  • @DistantJ There is an optional splitter which can be bought which allows you to connect to speakers and monitor with earphones. This allows you to cue things in and such.

  • You can preview songs independently from the mix that goes through the main speakers (aka pre-cueing) using djay’s Split Output mode, which can be enabled in the settings menu in djay for iPad. All you need is a stereo/mono split cable, and djay will send the master output to the left channel and the cue output to the right channel.

  • @DistantJ

Theres a midway jack you can use.

  • @DistantJ belkin rockstar audio splitters cost like 15 bucks dude :P

  • @shadowbenny I don't know what clubs you are going to, but all the major clubs in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Miami, etc are all using 1200's. They all have a serato setup, where the DJ just shows up with his laptop, plugs in the USB cable and he's set to go. No more carrying crates of vinyl or cases of CDs. Sounds like you don't know or haven't heard about Rane/Serato Scratchlive. Btw, the notebook of choice for any professional DJ is the MacBook Pro.

  • Comment removed

  • @nsxrebel Why can't people have constructive conversations without downgrading or insulting someone's opinion. I endorse vinyl. I have 1200's. I resisted getting the CD'J's because at first i scorned the idea of digital over analog. Eventually, both showed that they can co-exist. Is it so crazy to think that the iPad can't co-exist with the 1200's and the CDJ's?

  • @Shad0wBenny My argument has nothing to do with the iPad, I welcome the iPad. My beef is with your statement that CDJ's have replaced 1200's/Vinyl. That is not true at all. ALL major clubs in major cities are still using 1200's with Serato Scratchlive, look it up. All pro DJ's just carry around their notebooks, instead of vinyl/cd's. Plug in the USB cable and they're set to go. You use CDJ's? Serato works with that too. It's portable, doesn't scratch, organized, plug n play, sounds like vinyl.

  • @nsxrebel sounds like vinyl? is that a joke? serato with mks just enable timecode the sound comes out of pc, it doesnt even come close in sound quality.

  • I think it's first pro and best dj solution for iPad )

  • that I could write college papers on? Overall question.. iPad or netbook?

  • Ok, question for people... I'm a college student and looking at getting one of these for Christmas. I would like something more easy to port around with me to coffee shops and the library to write papers, use internet, etc. Now I know I won't be storing all my papers on these, I would probably write them and send them through my e-mail account to save them to my home computer. My question is, I know there is an attachable keyboard, but is there a good word processing system like MS word that

  • @Herky420 basically, no - iPads aren't good for what you want. A netbook with Word would be better in this case (and cheaper). I'm not being anti-Apple here - I actually have an iPad and two macs. I just think it's not good for what you want to do. The iPad is great for internet and as an e-reader but bad for creating and editing documents

  • their is no way you can possibly call yourself a dj unless you can properly dj on both vinyl and cdjs aswell as these amateur mp3 things

  • DUDE THAT WAS TOTALLY WICKEDDDD!!!!!!!!

  • Jog on . . . There's no mixer, an iPad is not suffcient for mixing, this is yet another way to con morons out of their pennies with the illusion they have any idea what it means to mix. If you ever saw someone using a touchscreen to mix you'd turn the fuck around and walk out the club.

The whole idea of apps is counterintuitive to the 21st century open source revolution. If you want to DJ with tech at least buy an S4 controller or just stay out the way.

  • @ShoTown Doesn't really have a lot of mixing capability for djs, but you're just looking at something to amuse yourself, then I suppose it's alright.

  • theres no mixer...

  • No skill involved. Why hasn't the guitar been exploited this badly?

  • @xXhamiltonXx - It has... look at Guitar Hero or Rock Band.

  • im getting ipad wifi 16gb will this work for it?

  • f@king awesome!!!!

  • i think its great, looking forward to buy the app :)

  • Great App.

I have just waited for something like that!

  • sucks, don't compare Analoge Vinylor CDJ's with a simple based app!

  • this would be ok for a snow day at radio. not in a club tho. clubbers respect the art to much

  • crap...

  • Make this iPad 3.2 Compatible!

  • this app make i think to buy ipad.... damn it.....

  • this is horrible. if you aren't pushing vinyl you suck caaack. if you are rocking this you suck caaack and take it in the exit... theres your multi touch.

  • Who's doing the demo? DJ Trainwreck?

  • This is retarded. Not in a good way.

  • @ctmexperiment ??

  • vio!!!!

  • This is freakin' awesome but traiditional DJ'ing will always be the best.

  • Any idea what that breakbeat track is? I tried searching the text on the tag and the album art, but came up with zip.

  • geeeeeeeeeeeiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiil

  • When you are DJing a party and you're hands get all sweaty, I wonder how effective this will be... also - DJing during the day may make it hard to see the screen. Great little app, but it is not going to replace CDJs anytime soon.

  • how dos the headphone q Work do u need external sound card?

  • oh yea I want in on this

  • What's the fun of Dj'ing when this thing does all the work for you? The fact that is has auto-sync is a reason for me NOT to buy it because it's way more cooler to set your cuepoint on your own en beatmatch a track. This is the reason why the last year everybody has been sayin: 'anyone can DJ' while actually it used to be an art if you could DJ. This is something that would be fun on a plane. Not in a club. (I'm not responding if you're going to insult me or anything, so don't even bother)

  • coooooool!

  • Good stuff. It's a toss between this and Sonorasaurus Rex when it comes to DJing on the iPad.

  • i wish the ipad had a usb for external interfaces so apps like this could be more than a gimmick. what good is beatmatching with no way to preview through a headphone out?

  • @Jeedan It does. Just hasn't been taken advantage of yet. The USB camera kit will allow for MIDI data to be passed through in iOS 4.2. There are also audio interfaces that are now iPad compatible and more are on the way.

  • bleh

  • greaaaat!!

  • One of the many reasons i want an iPad

  • I will be making Blend Tapes like a mo when this comes out. Can't wait.

  • An App will never replace anything considered to be DJ equipment. this is an ipod that automatically beat matches and flare scratches for you. please dont buy this app and think youre a dj. by all means, have fun with it, but again, you are not anything close to a dj or what we do. this is comparing a microwave to a grill. ya, a microwave is new technology, but no one wants a filet mignon cooked in one.

  • @jjrey9 well fucking said.

  • @jjrey9 Depends really mate... I mean is it about the skill or about the creativity, ya know? There have been turntables which figure out the BPM for you for years, spoils half the fun for sure but maybe some people who never had the ears to beat match might have the kind of creativity to mix stuff in crazy and awesome ways because of this.

  • @DistantJ like i said man, it looks like a fun app. but so is my synth app. Still, Im not going to go out and use my iphone to play a live show...if you want to learn to DJ, step your game up and do it right. you wont learn a damn thing from this app...BUT I hope this is a stepping stone for people that want to become real djs. My point is that an app is not replacement for 2 tables and a mixer.

  • @jjrey9 This is true - I can't help but think of the potential benefits of carrying an iPad (or a couple of iPads and a mixer) around instead of huge decks and a box of vinyls though.

  • @jjrey9 Haha, all the butthurt "Old School DJs" crying about the iPad taking away their bragging rights for owning overpriced pieces of equipment.

Yes, a bunch of $10 dollar apps just replaced your 3,500 dollar machines, don't bring "YOU'RE NOT A *REAL* DJ" arguments into this. You can make music with an iPad, case closed.

It's like when the electric guitar was introduced, all the QQing from people scared of new things...

  • @bastardoi This $10 app is not even close to capable of DJing. It'll work for playing Top 40 stuff at the local bar, but this isn't a serious DJ tool.

  • @bastardoi hahaha, dude, Thats like me saying that MS Paint took bragging rights away from legitimate artists and painters.

I could draw a picture in MS Paint, but it would still look like shit compared to a canvas and oil paint....which will be the case when an asshole shows up to a club with an ipad app and then a real DJ goes on and KILLS IT with 2 tables and a mixer.

  • @jjrey9 A good artist is gonna make good art even in MSPaint, and for that matter there's a bunch of artists that already do, just search for "Art in MSPaint", one dude even painted the Mona Lisa, it's right here in youtube.

So I'm not buying that BS that you need "SUPER EXPENSIVE TOOLS" to make good music. A good DJ, a good musician, is gonna make good music on ANYTHING, even a couple of trash cans.

  • @bastardoi

You don't always need super expensive tools, but you do need what works the best if you want to compete against others using the same. DJ's used to spin on belt drive tables and were limited to a certain accuracy. When quartz drive came out, good guys were allowed to be even better. I have tracks that aren't all consistent, the bpm fluctuates slightly. Someone using an app will trainwreck real quick. I can stay with the beat on the fly with my 1210's since it's manual.

  • @bastardoi being a good DJ takes practice. Good DJing...in my opinion, includes mastering beat matching, music selection, scracthing(depending on what you spin.) and a LOAD of practicing...

This app basically does all that by pressing a button. So you dont beat match, you dont scratch, and theres nothing to practice. You'd be a great Music Selector...but I can do that with my Shuffle...so why do you even need the ipad or app? Show up to a club with a shuffle, not the SUPER EXPENSIVE ipad.

  • @jjrey9 Beatmatching is just a technical skill, if an app does it for you I don't see the purpose of continuing to do it. It's like those cars that needed a crank to get going.

It's just a new tool and any creative person should embrace it, not shout it down because it threatens what they already know.

  • artists appreciate all tools

  • @jjrey9 They said the same thing about Drum Machines, Synthesizers, Electric Guitars and us DJ's. Don't even mention CDJ's!! Besides Traktor, Torq and a zillion other things including Ableton Live all have some form of auto beat match. I personally think we should embrace technology and use it how we see fit. Besides anyone can be a DJ. But a good DJ is one who combines kick ass music with skills to rock a party. Oh and I will never get rid of my 1200 nor my 808 but that's just me.

  • @jjrey9 That's funny. A lot of people would say, "Please don't DJ and think you have talent like a real musician." Seems pretty silly to get elitist about DJing. I say, if you are able to get the sound you're looking for, you're doing it right.

  • @FrankTinsley

"if you are able to get the sound you're looking for"...if thats the sound you're looking for then it's cause you dont know any better.

  • @carnagerpm Maybe it's not the sound someone is looking for. Or if it's what someone is trying to get, maybe they'll tire of it and look elsewhere. But DJing is inherently people messing with technology. It follows that the technology will keep advancing and things that used to require a great amount of skill developed on the part of the user will require less as the technology continues to help more and more. As long as the IDEAS of the person are able to come out pure, it's good.

  • @FrankTinsley elitist? heres a good example. i buy a electric piano...I change the settings to make it sound like a guitar...Im a great guitar player then, right? Im making the same sound, right? Like any musician, which I am, you'd agree that theres a big difference between playing the piano & playing a guitar...im not knocking the fun of this app, im sure its a load of fun..like angry birds! im knocking that it will never replace actually playing a guitar, which everyone seems to believe

  • Comment removed

  • pretty cool...i can already see som purists hating on this. gheeze, embrace technology. don't hate. you purists that hate sound like a bunch of photographers that still do b&w film. bottom line, you either know how to spin or you don't, regardless if youre old school and still spin vinyl or use today's technology (serato, vDJ, etc). if you suck on 1200's and vinyl, youre still going to suck on serato. if you're a good old school DJ, then you'll only be better with today's stuff.

  • ice

  • Wow this is amazing what you can do with just an iPad app but I bet all the old school DJs are calling this fake.

  • I look forward to an immediate purchase of this product :)

  • i hate these fake shits

    bpm match

    auto scratch

i guess its a good way to start out but still....

  • @crazyzer0i agree this is retarded

  • Well done developers of this app. Its awesome

  • wow

  • Oh man...Here come more bedroom Djs...

  • not bad at all :p

  • Since being introduced in 2001, Pioneer's CDJ line has basically killed the Technics SL-1200, which had been around since 1972! From crates to cd's to mp3's. It's way cheaper than a pair or a double pair of CDJ's. No cd cases to carry around. This has enormous potential! All a new club has to do is supply the speakers, mixers and amps. Two iPads and a Bozak or a Numark or whatever mixer of choice.

  • @Shad0wBenny nothing beats 1210er tho

  • @eltereding Nothing beats the warmth of vinyl, end of story. But in the long run, these can be seen as very cost effective.

  • @Shad0wBenny true!

  • @Shad0wBenny No.

  • @Shad0wBenny 1200 are choice of battle, i can needle drop

  • @Shad0wBenny

BS, 1200's are still King at clubs and big venues. Sure they are being used with Rane/Serato's Scratchlive hardware/software and MP3's, but at the core of it, vinyl is still being used. Go to any major club/rave/concert, and you will find a Technics - Serato setup ready for any DJ to plugin.

Ask any REAL DJ, and he can handle vinyl no problem. Lugging around CD's is just as bad or worse than carrying crates of vinyl. They can easily get scratched, no pun intended.

  • @nsxrebel 1200's and the CDJ's are cemented in big clubs. The 1200's were first. Eventually, they had to make room for the CDJ's because dj's adapted and embraced the tech, so the clubs had to oblige. No more coming there 2 hours before to drop off or setup your records. Just one or two cd books and you're set. No more having three or five friends carry your crates for you. The iPad is a marriage of hardware and software. Maybe all three platforms can exist together.
