  • I presume this is just for the U.S.

  • Nice video.. too bad I'm in the Philippines..

  • Well I wouldn't want you as my lawyer. I had a conversation with my best friends mom who is a partner at Bingham McHutchinson. She says non-ABA school and even tier 3 and 4 law school graduates are laughed at when they send her firm resumes. There are too many lawyers and if you have a nice pedigree like UCLA or Stanford you will demand a higher salary and be more respected.

However work experience does matter but it has to be top notch. Big 4 accounting experience + tier 2 degree= good.

  • @FutureCACPA Some of this is true.

All in all, going to ANY Law School lower than Top-30 is a bad investment, even with a full-ride.

Even at Top-30, i would never pay sticker unless it's HYS(Since there, you're virtually guaranteed to find a good job if you get decent grades).

If you can't meet the requirements stated above, retake your LSAT and reapply, or think about working at Starbucks now, the earlier the better.

  • @WarrenAch

Yep but your observation is also based on averages. There are instances where for a particular person the tier 4 degree was a good investment. Maybe a family friend gets them in at a top law firm or they are just very talented.

All in all though there are too many lawyers and not enough CPA's. I had an accounting gig that paid more than my counterparts that graduated from the local tier 3 law school before I even graduated with my BA degree.

  • @FutureCACPA Talent doesn't mean anything, especially in a market that welcomes over 46,000 students with Juris Doctor Booya Degrees each year.

+ Finding a good gig coming out from a non Top-30 is a myth, "local markets" as well.

The ONLY TTT School that i know that has grads holding somewhat decent positions is Howard.

Yes, CPA's are in bigger demand, but the job itself is boring as fuck lol

  • @WarrenAch

Talent means a lot. I know a few graduates of tier 3 and 4 colleges that make a ton. These are the seasoned attorneys with 10 years of experience, a large client base and a series of big wins in civil court.

  • @FutureCACPA You're talking about exceptions, which aren't the case for the vast majority of grads out there.

You "knew a few tier 3 and 4 grads that make a ton", maybe true, but as you claim, they graduated way before the market became shit, therefore your point stands biased and invalid.

Concerning the rest of your claims, wether true or pure bullshit, still isn't enough to prove that getting a good gig outside the Top-30 is possible for the 46,000 students taking the bar each year.

  • @WarrenAch

It is possible. However it is highly improbable. The person matters the most not the degree. The degree only gets your foot in the door.

Yep there are way too many attorneys I agree with you here. In california you don't even have to graduate from an ABA accredited law school to become an attorney. Check out Laurence Drivon college of law and San Jouquin College of Law. They are a joke.

46,000 is an insane amount. Being a lawyer is so overglamorized on TV

  • @WarrenAch

The media promotes the legal profession like crazy. Makes it seem so exciting and glamorous. So far I have never heard about a CPA firm show. Probably because most people find dealing with money boring. I love the hell out of it.

Seriously I have forecast the futures of some potential law students I know that are considering taking the 150k student loan out for the 4th tier. Most feel they will be in that top 10% that gets good jobs despite all evidence to the contrary.

  • @FutureCACPA Problem is, students don't do any research and enter TTTs, my brother got a fulltime job at BigLaw and his hiring Partner told him "The school name mattered a lot to our decision, lower ranked school grads usually don't have the cunning to compete in a very competitive market, we only want the best"...

Moral of the story, if you want to maximize your odds as a Lawyer, go to the best ranked school possible and do well from there, Tier 1 is fine with Scholly, T2-T3-T4 = SCAM.

  • @WarrenAch

How is getting a good gig out of a top 30 school a myth?

I guess it depends on your field. If I decide to pursue tax law after I get my CPA I am set as long as I can get into a tier 1 school. I would get interviews after admission . My worst case scenario would involve working at my CPA firm as an attorney getting 90k a year.

This may not be worth it though since if I get on partnership track in the next 7 years I can make over 150k with just my BS and my CPA certification.

  • @WarrenAch

This is of course because I know the right people!

  • Thanks for all the great comments. I know the quality of video is bad. But hey, it is free!

  • OMG the music!!! My eaarss!!! The vid quality!!! Terrible vid: however, priceless info. Thank you very much, I'll look into it. *Subscribes*

  • @cava757 Actually I think they have something similar In Virginia. You should look up your states info on it.

  • An indentured servant was typically a young unskilled laborer who came to America under contract to work for an employer for a fixed period of time, typically three to seven years, in exchange for their ocean transportation, food, clothing, lodging and other necessities during the term of their indenture

  • We can never find justice at the hands of corrupt judges. (See youtube videos) Judge To Judge On Illegal_Payments To Judges---Evil Triangle of Court Corruption---Richard Fine---Dr shirley Moore---SBX 211. Now is the time to be heard. The fight to end this title wave of corruption in our country must start with the corrupt judges. Show your support now or wait untill your fate is at the hands of corrupt judges. bring these judges to justice,

  • you should really google "great young attorney" and/or search for on here!

  • It is very nice of you to post this helpful info. Law school is expensive and puts most into indentured servitude from which they never gain release.

When I'm asked about going to law school, I ask, “Would you like to practice law in a third world legal system?”

Being a lawyer is even worse than you can imagine. If you piss off a crooked judge or a connected attorney, you will be screwed. To see for yourself, Google: Justice in Florida Supreme Court documents missing.

  • By the way, I graduated in the top third of my class at UF, a top tier law school, and I aced the Bar exams and LSAT. Google: scores and recommendations markadamsjdmba

I won some big cases, but I ran into the old boys who rule our third world legal system. Since we no longer can hold them accountable when they violate the law, they take cash and say black is white and right is wrong. To learn how they get away with this, google: Why Does the Government Ignore Our Wishes?

  • @MarkAdamsAtty Cant say I disagree. Mainly communist controlled public service unions holding taxpayers hostage by complaining about corporations that create millions of jobs and pay 70 percent of taxes. The SEIU are destroying our free market system and guarantee a collective raises for less qualified employees on the backs of the few producers, who are forced to be in the unions. SUPPORT right to work. End forced union membership to work and end the involuntary money funnel to communists

  • Yeah, become a Lawyer without Law School but you have to stay in the program in question for 4 years...

Nice one, but i'll stick with Law School if it was me.

  • @WarrenAch hahahh

  • LA is a hellwhole, north dakota is boring but cheap, so fuck it!

  • @fuckdanwo Thanks for the comments.

  • @injurylawyers you are welcome sir

  • Are you serious or just kidding around?

  • Does anyone know how Comprehensive the 6-month reports have to be? I don't want to say "what's the bare minimum," but how short can the report be?

  • soo i go to community college in Orange County,CA i want to become a lawyer whats the best path?

  • transfer to a top university (Berkeley, UCLA, USC etc) and then do well (3.4 - 3.8), and do well on the LSAT (mid 160's).

  • it is a very interesting video and very informative. however i did some research on the clep exam and it is worth on average 10-12 units. how many units are required before taking my baby bar exam? also how difficult is it to find a judge or attourney to clerk for? thanks!!!

  • Ok i'm almost finished with high school i got decent grades, not great though. Where should i go from there?

  • what a cunt

  • Awesome! Thank you. I'm going to study for the bar exam, pass it, practice as a lawyer, and maybe go back to school for the chicks!

  • you are ignorant.

  • You are quite the clown.

  • either you have serious epilepsy or you need a new camera

  • Yes like Max Headroom!

  • @Doggieman1111 Yeah. It was an HD camera and too advanced for my editing software.

  • Wow! Thanks for sharing this info. I had no idea this program exicsted. I have been planning on going to get my paralegal AA first and try for law school after. But maybe I need to look at this a bit closer. Thanks again!!

  • Thanks for the kind words. Semper Fi

  • la is a great county, watts a great suburb, my block is great, my family is wonderful and i'm sooo humble....

  • yes I love the tri annual riots.

  • Don't beleive this one bit. With some consistent studying though, ambition, motivation, maybe a little agressivness and profbambergers videos, anyone can pass the bar and actually become a lawyer

  • You still have to get to a Cal Bar Certified school.

  • Not so. Check out the bar website for unaccredited schools - no accreditation at all! Yet, you can sit for the bar exam after four years of "study". Did you pass first time out?

  • Really?

  • who needs school? If you can read and interpret and interpret the law face the judge everyday and bullshit your way through the grand jury the proceedings etc. you don't need to waste your time with the LSATs the CLEP's etc.

  • Just what we need! more fucking lawyers.

Lawyers have destroyed this once great country.

    Shakespeare had the right idea.

  • This video skips more than a rap video.

  • Is this really true?

  • Yes

  • I'm in school for paralegal and i had no clue tht u dont need law school

  • The "Semper Fi" comments means I automatically respect you. I further respect you for doing the 'Read Law" program. That's 4 years of law office study. Congrats again for passing the bar exam. The Cal bar is the toughest in the country. And you are right - law school does not prepare you to be a lawyer. The main downside is the "prestige" factor - lawyers from top schools look down on you, and you are pretty much unemployable in most circles. You made this work and do not shy from it. A+

  • OOhrah

  • I'm doing a mock trial in school. Have any advice? I'm the prosecuting lawyer and I have no clue what I'm doing. We are having real lawyers on the jury and want to impress them some how.

  • I welcome the competition.

  • I am already a Mexican lawyer, I am going to be an American lawyer as well. and make a lot of pesos and dollars. jejejejje I am going after your jobs and money just the same way Indians are taking all the IT jobs in the world. you have 2 options: become more competitive or hand out your jobs to a globalized economy. Good luck

  • Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha!

  • Only 7 countries in the world have the common law system. As a matter of fact civil law is more demanding than the common law system. Besides, as foreign attorney I already have more experience than if I would stick to a law firm for 4 years. As a foreign attorney, we just need to learn the 13 subjects tested in the Ca bar exam to pass it.

  • That's great if you want to be a Mexican lawyer. Hope you make a lot of pesos.

  • lol.

  • Great. But how do you expect to be admitted to the Bar with a foreign degree?

  • Easy. Taking the bar exam (3 days)! The bar is allowing foreign attorneys to take the Bar exam. Read the educational requirements at the California bar website.

  • I would rather read for the law under a real lawyer and that way you dont have to "learn" how to be a lawyer, cause you will already know.

  • @mexicanlawconsultant Mexico is not an English Common law country. You cannot sit for the Cal Bar with a Mexican law degree.

  • @injurylawyers So how come my former atty. Atty Chua graduated from the Philippines which is a civil law and not a common law jurisdiction was able to take the Cal Bar and practice law in SFO?

  • electronic lips

  • i bet phoenix wright never had to put up with that

  • is there a way you can become a lawyer with no law school besides going to california state like anywhere in the united states like florida or new york area..??

  • These guys didnt go to law school;

Patrick Henry, member of the Continental Congress, governor of Virginia, John Jay, first chief justice of the Supreme Court;John Marshall, chief justice Supreme Court;William Wirt;Roger B. Taney, chief justice of the Supreme Court;Daniel Webster, secretary of state; Salmon P. Chase, senator, chief justice of the Supreme Court;Abraham;Stephen Douglas, representative;Clarence Darrow;Robert Storey; J. Strom Thurmond;James O. Eastland, senator; Wallechinsky, David.

  • If you want to work for a firm and limit your income, the school you went to may be important. But I immediately went into practice for myself due to my experience in reading for the law and hands on work with trial lawyers.

Law school does NOT prepare you for anything, other than brainwashing you into thinking you need to work for a law firm.

In all events, I make more money than any lawyer I know who works for a firm, even senior partners. So the myth you speak of is "debunked"

  • I believe that depends on where in the profession you plan to work. I know a lawyer who studied at a non ABA law school and he has a successful solo practice.

  • You can go to a non ABA schoo. You have to take the baby-bar exam after your first year. However, if you look at the bar pass rates the non-ABA schools have pretty low pass rates. Most of the instructors are not attornies.

  • Imagine if medical schools were run like this. No need to go to law school (or a college degree for that matter), just wander into a hospital and help the surgeons out for four years. Any takers?

I commend this guy for his achievement. It's very rare to do this - a four year commitment and, of course, the dreaded bar exam standing in the way. I'm firmly convinced anyone can pass the bar without law school, if they knuckle down and learn the subjects.

  • The difference is that medical students actually get real training as interns. Lawyers typically dont. I'll pick the lawyer who learned law from doing, rather then being taught by a professor who simply teaches any day.

  • I agree with you. I learned more law doing pro-bono cases on the side. My point is that law students don't learn anything while in school. They're functional idiots. If med school were the same, the doctors would be just as worthless.

  • Gee thanks. Much respect.

  • I have a LOT of respect for what you accomplished. I admire determination, no doubt learned from being in the Corps.

  • Roger that. Civilians have no idea what the Corps. could do for them.

  • is this bullshit

  • No it is not

  • oh heyall yes. ima git me into that shit

  • Please lose the background music & the mixes lol. It was informative. I am just curious as to how you were able to sit for the Bar prior finishing up law school or the program that you were involved in. I am currently attending Abraham Lincoln Univ online (which is really good for me since I am in GA)

  • Vinny1010

Do we need to pass baby bar.

How your law school going. I would like to have information to study. Please advise.

I am in GA too. Thanks

  • This video only pertains to CA, and yes you still need to pass the Baby Bar!

  • Wow, inspirational!

  • Thanks. I did my best to help less privileged folks. Semper Fi.

  • This is really informative. Nice to see quality information being given out. Thanks for taking the time to share.

  • Thanks for your kind words.

  • This is great information!

  • Thanks for the compliments. Semper Fi

  • Very informative. Thanks Ehline Law.
