Agalloch is post rock crossed with the European neofolk scene. It hardly has metal elements in it. It is easy to relate to metalheads because of the strong neofolk influence which combines with many European bands. These bands create a distinctive sub genre of metal. Besdies the odd black shrieks and occasional heavy guitar, they are really not even related to metal.

I am a big fan of the neo folk metal scene and can relate to Agalloch a lot, this is my favourite song by them!

In this song they are using 'solstafir' as a synonym for the 'Aurora' that 'swims in the ether'...in other words, the Northern Lights, which are 'not unlike the waves'.
