Folk metal is shallow trend-music that senses a void of white cultural identity and fills it with racist cartoons. Rhythmically the music isn't far removed from a combination of 80s metal and ska, but it's colored with period instrumentation, and that's good enough for our generation's sordid love affair with irony.
@Chembletek I always listen Agalloch when ever I travel to or stay in Oregon. It's an unmatched experience: listening to all of "Ashes Against the Grain" on the Oregon coast, in the pine forests.
Dead Winter days and Falling snow are great songs to listen to when your at the top of Mt Hood over looking the the pine trees. The side that doesn't have any signs of human interference.
Shit takes me back. I grew up to this song. I love just about any and every kind of Metal, but Agalloch just makes everything else feel kind of like a gimmick.

@nadman14 Dude! Seriously this is a good song. But you can't discard a band for a song. So stop classifying something as your favorite. Like someone asks me which is your favorite metal band. @nadman14 I've never had a favorite band. I've always liked too much stuff to choose an all time favorite. Listened to Agalloch for about a day. They're now my undisputed favorite band.

KSCIAA: Thanks so much for all the Agalloch uploads. I have all the albums now except, 'Marrow', which is on back order to me in Australia. As per our friend above - murderaddiction, this song takes me back to other times, and prompts the memories of times spent in wilderness and forgotton places in this country. this is great, and has a lot in common with some europan folk/black metal. some bands, like Ulver, share a lot with them. i looked these guys up on wikipedia, and it is hard to belive they are from the states..
This song reminds me of being four years old, walking down a trail through Pennsylvanian forests. It takes me back to the sense that the "civilized" world we live in is only a blindfold. It's hard to explain- I guess it's just the instinctual desire to dwell in the natural world like our ancient ancestors did.
