  • I dont think I would consider this AJAX. At least from a programmers point of view.

  • @skeasor ...

i agree. though its a cool video i would not consider this ajax either.ajax can be used in spry framework but this cant be consider is one of the example.

  • I dont think I would consider that AJAX. at least from a programming stand point.

  • Nice post, jojoj

  • Hi!

This is cool but i have one question:

How can i do this by following your tutorial to open up the div like on youtube?

I mean, if you click a button under the video, a new div comes up and pull the content under the div down.

You know what i mean? How it works?

    Thanks!

  • @Krassus99

    ok thanks

  • Hey Boss!

please don't misguide ppl. This is not AJAX.

  • @adnan5050 Read the title adnan, it says "Spry framework for AJAX" and not Ajax.

  • what is the difference??

Ajax and AJAX? it is same man!

what I want to say is in this video tutorial the topic is *NOT* about ajax. It's simply show/hide a div using javascript. For ajax data is passed/retrieved to/from server-side. But here in this tutorial there is nothing like that!

This is not fare to misguide novice ppl. 53,000+ ppl have watched this video and who have no previous idea about ajax, are already thinking ajax is some javascript (dhtml) effects. Soooo pathetic!

  • why is that?

  • As some other commenters said, this isn't AJAX. There is no data transmission between the server using XML. This is DHTML (all you are using is Javascript and the DOM). I think people are confused because it uses the JS library called SpryEffects.js but while the effects are built into the Spry framework, it isn't using AJAX.

  • couldnt get it work. anybody can help?

  • hhaha funnie comments. i 've tried this 3x and can't get it to work. i must be a bimby.

  • when was the last time any of you guys got laid?

  • Nice and simple - top return on viewing investment. More more!!

  • Sad as many people try to use the name AJAX related to anything just to look cool,

sad as well that in the video they state what is Ajax about but then do something else with it.Adobe team know what is Ajax about and they are sed you ruin their name,Go get a book

  • NICE HUH!!!

  • This is not AJAX

  • how would you do it so clicking on the second button fades out the first paragraph of text and then fades in the new content? i want to be using one simple menu - home/about/contact etc... but with only one text area field.. is this possible using dremweaver and spry?

  • Thats simple javascript. No communication with the server. Javascript is alright add a bit of jquery and you have a lot more effects and shit.

  • This really nice, and I use it, but it is not Ajax. It is just some javascript that does a few different things. It does not go and communicate to a server-side language such as php and come back with a response.

  • Isn't AJAX used to pull info from the web server and then display on the web page without the effort of refreshing the page? - Info can be coming from a DB. This aint AJAX, anybody can do this crap.

  • It is Ajax you muppet!

  • fuck off you wanker. fuck your mom up her arse you bastard.

  • All Mighty Wiki says:

"The term Ajax has come to represent a broad group of web technologies that can be used to implement a web application that COMMUNICATES WITH A SERVER in the background, without interfering with the current state of the page."

Dreamweaver does know what they are doing, they didn't say a thing about this spry component being related to AJAX, the only one confused here is you my friend.

  • @KingUser2008

Why did AJAX get tied into animation? It's only for getting data.

  • Nice but if you click both of the buttons - both content shows up. Can the content be faded out when another button is hit?

  • Yes you can, but you have to give the Spry Functions different names, so it only opens the correct section you want open. Giving each section the same name opens all of them.

  • That isn't AJAX; it is DHTML.

  • Actually, he's right. This is by no means AJAX though still helpful. DHTML is the right category too. AJAX stands for Asynchronous Java Script And XML. This basically means that data is brought to the web page from an webservice for example without the page having to refresh. This data was already embedded into the HTML so there was no need to use AJAX.

  • yeh am a shit at ajax but i atleast know its not ajax but cool i tried to write this effect but i always failed :( I am bad at javascript. dreamweaver is cool. I was looking for some way to make rounded corner textboxes or wateva but rounded corner in dreamweaver is it possible? i mean without writing the code?

  • Ok, so Dreamweaver don't know what they are doing, and you do... LMAO, give me a break... Buy a clue!

  • I agree, it does not go and talk to any backend server-side script and come back with a result. It is just some neat javascript with html. Big difference.

  • wow how did create the buttons? please help

  • Go to FORMS, and click BUTTON, simple as that. Shows you how to do this in the manual

  • This was the best tutorial I seen for learning ajax in cs3. Very helpful.

  • The problem with a frames page is that web crawlers don't crawl them accurately. How well do web crawlers crawl an Ajax page?

BTW thanks for the great explanation of Ajax, I have seen it mentioned every where but never understood what it was.

  • Give and you shall receive, I hope you guys get somehow rewarded for doing such nice things.

    We appreciate it. thank YOU!!

  • freak yeah!! finally they come out with videos that show us how to do the secrets in cs3. thanks guys

  • i am a real newb with this spry thing - i applied this steps to my html page - and it showed up a blank page. what did i do wrong?

  • Nice and simple - top return on viewing investment. More more!!

  • i love you guys for this!

  • and we love you, my friend. Stay tuned for more sweet tutorials coming up in the coming weeks and months.

  • thanks

  • Nice video.

But what is really interesting for me with Ajax is the possibility to send queries (select, insert etc.) via a server side script without refreshing the page. That is hot.

  • You can include that spry-Files in PHP-Files, so what is the problem? :)

  • I see that as a solution, not a problem.

  • wow.. i didn't know that.. good one!

  • nice tuto. the secrets reveal

  • true ajax

  • nice tutorial. but would this really be ajax or just hiding and showing divs....with a fade....?

  • fantastic man
