  • Can I ask why a RB20? why not go for a RB25 or 26? Different power when stock or easier to get power out of? And I'd sort a put a 2jz in just for expirementing, but Im young so I dont no any better. which is why im try to get some answers to improve my knowlegde. thanks!

  • hi guys, i had read some of ur comments i gt an a31 with rb20 det engine, standard and stock, my car video clips is at profile .just in case reliability came first to my mind then the horsepower.i'm using this car for daily drive.i gt an simple setup going through my mind td06 25 G tomei 1mm metal gaskets for heads

    fuel regulator safc e-boosr controller

    and set run the boost pressure at 0.7 bar..

    any comments? or any other alternatives?but i hope for the reliability....

  • Don't go for such a big turbo and run such small boost it will be poo. better of going a slightly smaller turbo with better response and similar boost or more, good old rb20's are tuff so can handle more boost than 0.7bar

  • yup u r rite....but i can't see any performance in a rb20 engine...it 's not a power engine, just enough for pull the car.... it's very hard to race with 4g63 in town roads and highways...thinking bout rb 25 now, just feel fed up with those rb20's...

  • can i know how much horsepower can u gain from ur rb20? and 1 more thing really interesting is ur radiator back pressure pipe, is glowing blue and nice 2 see...can i know bout that? it's nice buddy ;-)

  • i'm using a rb 20 det in a cefiro....

    i can't use my blow off valve since the rb's turbo are originally fitted with wastegates....

    my air flow sensor doesn't get the correct reading when i'm using the blow off valve and cause more fuel and lags and loose power....

    can i get anyones help here?

    i also drive a31+rb20det which can kick dc5 easily...

    my rb20 det is ok now but only thing is the car can't pull and alike loose power at high throttle....

  • @alenop when u say high throttle do u mean before or after 6800rpm? the stock rb20det will fall off after 6800rpm, and if it's falling off before that check your coils u might be getting spark blow out

  • you need to get a new air flow meter and as for your bov all u need to do is install the new bov and block the pipe that is connected to the bov, make sure there is no leaks as u will loose rpm,mine is internally wastegated turbo and i got a hks super sequential bov and all i did was took it off and replaced it and blocked the pipe off and added the vacume line

  • i have herd multiple times the rb25 turbo is safer on a rb20 at higher boost, like 13 is the max. but i herd with a 25 turbo on a 20 some people say they DD 18 lbs n make 350? i know the turbo on the rb25 can make 320whp+ completely bone stock with fmic, exhaust.

  • im still tossing up between geting a hksgtrs or my mates td06 20g... the 20g was good on his 25! but the actuator was fucked so it ran 28pounds constanly on a untuned motor (mirotech 12s) until the oil got milky! mmmmm yum how late does boost come on a 20?

    starts to spool at like 3000 and then hits full boost somewhere over 4500 with 8200 redline

  • A friend and i both have RB20DETs with the same intercooler, similar exhaust and bolt ons. I run the 20G and he runs the GT-RS. The 20G makes more power and is more responsive. Perhaps its the manifolf and gate that help my setup, but fact is the 20G is the superior setup. I am currently upgrading to a 25G to see if i can go from current 260 to 290+rwkws. The 20G can be pretty responsive, just needs a good tune with plenty of ignition and cam gears

  • Thanks for the reply. I have an rb20 that I'm finishing up, havent made it to the dyno yet, and I have a few parts I still need to install. Hoping for just over 300whp. Rb20 Tomei poncams mild port/polish garrett t3, .60 ar compressor, .48 ar exhaust 16 psi reflashed ECU supra 440cc injectors. Stock internals (minus cams of course) Always like seeing other modded rb20's numbers. Thanks again -Max
