  • Taylor Who?! XD 4:46

  • I love les mis so much :'''') Can't wait for the movie! Sam is brillllllll!

  • 00:34-0:43 That's music from Harry Potter, isn't it?

  • @daaaaaa Actually I think HP might have taken it from Les Mis, cause Les Mis has been there for more than 25 years! But great observation I observed it too, when I saw Order of the Phoenix!

  • @Sarapontmercy

Of course, if it's not a coincidence, Nicholas Cooper 'borrowed' it.

  • was she on britains got talent

  • samantha baaarks <3

  • Wow! Alfie Boe is beautiful! First time to see her! I fell for her.

  • @chompet123 Alfie Boe is Jean Valjean not Eponine XD

  • @EnigmaBerry awkward... sorry. but she's beautiful like fk.

  • oh colm wilkinson..

  • Alfie has a fantastic singing voice, but I simply believe that it sounds too operatic to play Jean Valjean :-/

  • died and went to heaven...

  • @GhostUponFloor

She has a musical voice! Strong and pretty! Taylor doen't have a strong voice. Samantha Barks is great AND she puts a lot of emotion in her singing! -.-

  • @GhostUponFloor Was you watching what the rest of us where?

  • They have speed up all the songs

  • So glad that Samantha gets to show the world what she's made of in the movie :)

  • the 9 dislikes are Taylor Swift fans

and on a more important note...Alfie's "Take an eye for an eye, turn your heart into stone, this is all I have wished for, this is all I have known" is one of the best parts of his Valjean...there's just something about it :)

  • I love the Valjean quartet. :) and Samantha is my favorite Eponine. so glad she's in the movie instead of Taylor Swift. Taylor wouldn't be able to handle belting out "On My Own" like Sam can. can't wait for the movie!

  • anyone else worried about Helena Bonham Carter playing Madame Thénardier in the movie, she's a great actress but after hearing her in sweeny tood i think her voice wont match up to the role

  • Alfie is a amazing singer and is Valjean, but he would never be able to act as well as the others, sorry - it was said

  • The four Valjeans and Samantha Barks blew the audience away on this one.

  • A fab Eponine! So glad she's in the movie. Alfie should be Valjean, no matter how good Hugh Jackman is (And he's 'really' good).

  • See, she's a good Eponine...but Alexia Khadime is my favourite for Eponine :P x

  • Why does this Valjean, sing it like an opera, it's not an opera, needs to slow it down a bit, to get his frustrations

  • @westsarebest if you are talking about alfie boe, let me tell you first that I think he is the best valjean I've ever seen (and I've seen many people perform that part). secondly: this might not be an opera, it's a musical, but the singers still need to have classical singing training, most of them do anyway. I like Colm Wilkinson, obviously, but Alfie Boe is just perfect. I don't think he should sing it slower, either, he is acting and he's doing a good job.

  • @westsarebest oh hell no. Alfie Boe is a god.

  • ty..I could listen to that 24/7

  • i want to go see les mis now

  • She has the most beautiful dimples :') <3

  • That last note was too beautiful for words.....

  • I love this! Love Les Mis and I'm excited for the new movie, especially since the 1998 version had no singing!

I'm not diving into the whirlpool of arguments over Jean Valjean's but I will say this small comment. I'm happy that Samantha Barks is in the new movie. While I prefer Lea Salonga, I do think she is good at the role. I'll definitely be seeing it in December!

  • 10:58 is so hard to do!!

  • Oh, that Colm singing technique...does he have peanut butter on his gums? Love it.

  • Comment removed

  • Obviously the Strictly Come Dancing film crew, as half of the shots are from the back of the room..

  • awks when a poor person dies.

  • is it just me or does the number on jean valjean say 24'5'01?

  • @engenuine yeah, it was his prisoner number.

  • @SeanSymphony he meant that it should say 24601... the way its printed on his coat it looks wrong

  • Why did no one cheer hysterically when alfie came on:/ love this one of my fav musicals!!!

  • Comment removed

  • How right Colm Wilkinson is allowed to sing the very last part of the song. He holds that note for about 15-16 secs, it's amazing.

  • @leedscab123 they're all singing but colm the loudest for me Alfie has the most beautifull voice.

    but they're all great:)

  • Undoubtedly talented though Alfie is, Colm Wilkinson will always be Valjean to me. Hearing anyone else in the role is almost jarring, since he played it for so very long.

  • I'm not saying that Alfie Boe isn't talented, because he is, but I hate that when he sings, he sounds like he's from another country or something :/

  • Can I just say: Just because Alfie Boe is opera trained makes it no excuse for him singing musical theatre songs in an opera style. And no, he and Samantha are certainly not "THE BEST EVA".

  • @rockercharmz888 personally i think he's incredible and especially a few years ago, he was working as a mechanic so actually i think he's pretty damn good at actng AND singing samantha is amazing as well. so get over yourself and stop being such an arrogant prick.

  • @SinisterNight96 Why don't you get over your naive little world and realise that just because these singers happen to be more famous/acting in the 25th year. I'm not being an arrogant prick, I just think it's sad when previous amazing actors (understudies, too) get passed over just for the more "famous"and the fans who think that the show only consists of the 25th concert cast. Also, I think every decent Les Mis fan has to admit, as operatically talented as he is, Alfie was not very good as JVJ.

  • @rockercharmz888 I was only acknowledging that they were very, very good, what got you the idea that I didn’t appreciate the previous Les Misérables cast

i dont know. I saw the original first and I loved that as well. Maurice Barrier, Marianne Mille were just as amazing. So yes, as it turns out, my previous statement still stands, you are an arrogant prick. How dare you assume that I only like them because of their fame, do you really believe me to be that superficial.

  • @SinisterNight96 Oh I don't know, probably the fact that everyone around here makes comments like "Alfie Boe is the best eva" without knowing a thing or two about the show before he came in. It's really funny that you can't bring your point out decently without name-calling. Hmm. I don't assume anything about you, I don't know a thing about you and I quite honestly don't care, I'm saying in general. Look at these comments and you'll see.

  • @rockercharmz888 Thank you

  • Love the way she sings "pretending", it's amazing! x)

  • <3

  • So SO glad she's playing Eponine in the film instead of Taylor Swift!! Can't wait!!! :)

  • @bobbyn6415 Is she?! Excellent!!

  • @bobbyn6415 yes, totally. She's great. I was SO hoping that they would cast her, although I thought they woudn't when it was rumoured they were chosing between johannson, swift, wood and michele. anyway, I personally think that this is one of her weakest performances, because normally she's using head voice and here she doesn't... however, I cannot wait to see the film... so excited!! :)

  • Thank you for the video!

  • that first guy just races through it, even the musicians struggled to keep up. Sorry, but colm wins by a mile!

  • GET AWAY FROM ME, MUSICAL PEASANTS!

  • Comment removed

  • @TPeerlyn Dec 7th :)

  • I literally get tingles when the overture starts. I love this musical..

  • @kac5318 I never actually said you were insulting him, i was just stating my opinion, sorry, shoot me for taking advantages of my human rights. And also, I would just like to say that Colm is singing Bring Him Home, it is 4 of the Valjeans that are singing it. The one that Boe sings is the first song which I repeat is not Bring Him Home. So, who is the confused one now?

  • Love Colm Wilkinson!! Come on the Irish!

  • May have just cried slightly at the beauty of Bring Him Home. There will be no better Valjean than Colm <3

  • @xAVENGEFULx You do realize that wasn't Colm singing Bring Him Home, don't you? That is Alphie Boe... and while Colm originated the role, Boe is a far, FAR more skilled vocalist (from a purely technically perspective)...

  • @kac5318 Colm is the best Jean Valjean that has ever been.

  • @kac5318 Uh.............no. And his acting? Stomping feet to show he was angry? Don't think so.

  • @xAVENGEFULx I wasn't insulting Colm... You keep saying that Colm is singing in this video... HE ISN'T. This is Alfie Boe and they have very different voices... Alphie is a much more trained classical vocalist... I personally like Alfie better, but I can see why some people would prefer Colm from a overall performance... You just seem confused.

  • @kac5318 but he is actually singing ...

  • P.S.

If you guys can't tell by my comment, I'm in love with Samantha Barks. =)

  • If I was Marius, I would choose Eponine. (Especially if Ponine's going to be played by Samantha!)

And yes, "Ponine" is short (sort of) for Eponine. A...fonder way of saying it.

  • @RaySingh87 She was never called "Ponine" in the book. And I doubt if you were Marius, an idealistic schoolboy, you'd want some crazy stalker street rat all over you. Just saying.

  • @rockercharmz888 I'm pretty sure Cosette tells Jean Valjean that when she first meets him, and she calls Azelma "Zelma."

  • On My Own seemed really rushed... :(

  • The Tom Baker introduction just makes me think it's an elaborate Little Britain sketch.

  • fucking alfie boe.

  • This always reminds me why I love to sing :D x

  • Alfie Boe= omg.

  • DU GRAND ART ! ! ! Je suis boulversée.

    "MERCI" FROM FRANCE.

  • oh Colm, how i love thee :L

  • @dayschasingnights totally agree with you :/

  • colm wilkinson what a boss

  • I'm surpirsed they didn't sing "One Day More!"

  • reallllly dont like her.... she makes it way tooo pop

  • what's better than jean valjean?

4 jean valjeans. in harmony :)

  • enjolras = napoleon dynamite? also, where was he on the bow? .-.

  • who dislikes this... ha

  • John Owen Jones - whoop!!! Alfie Boe is not bad either!!!

  • damn have they got nice harmony those jean valjeans :D

  • @Linfir I think they sound pretty darn awful as an ensemble, there are some amazing harmonies in that arrangement but they are all singing as though it is the melody, thus there are a lot of clashing of sound waves in it, especially on the unison at the end .-. should of just let colm hold the last note as he is by far the best XD

  • <3

  • bring him home- the song of soldiers families <3

  • Alfie Boe... ♥

  • Beautiful. Her voice is so amazing to me.

  • @itzaramaja i think it also has something to do with the career aswell. like stars are getting discovered much younger now and we have this whole disney channel generation of younger stars so now rather than older actors playing younger characters because theyve worked their way up they age of the actor fits the character more easily nowadays :) i.m.o

  • ugh! I fell in love with Samantha when I saw the concert at the O2, love love love love her! why she isnt in the movie, i will never know! she should be though. and Alfie is just orgasmic! voice like no other and he is very handsome!

  • Samantha Barks= OMG AMAZING!!!!!!!!

  • @MultiBeckylou Heyy Becky ;) xxx

  • @courtneyluvsglee Heyyyy

  • Alfie Boe is an amazing Jean Val Jean!!!! The Best!!!

  • @itzaramaja I agree! Although I would say looking back at the 80s and 90s from the current day, what we think people look like when they're old or young could be different to back then. But I think they should cast more older people too!

  • Samantha is one of the best eponine's ive ever seen. And the four valjeans is the best performance of a song ever. Always makes me teary!

  • colm: "step back guys. i've got this last note."

  • why can't this be my job......:(

  • You cant tell which of the actors are playing ValJean as they haven't shaved :)

  • Sam is great and all, but she sounds and looks too "pretty" to be part of the poor.

  • Not only is Samantha Barks drop dead gorgeous she has an amazing voice as well

  • @leedscab123 I'm so glad she has been cast in the film.

  • Alfie Boe is the best Jean Val Jean ever!

  • I just don't like how she goes nasal sometimes but what the heck

  • @HairdoAngel shut the fuck up, Samantha is amazing, as were Lea, and stop to insult the girl, she the nicest person ever and she doesn't deserve that!

  • I just want to know why my own country (france) don't do this musical? It's inspired from the novel "Les Misérables" by V.Hugo isn't it ? .....I really don't understand ><

  • Dear Samantha, you're too beautiful to be homeless. Live in my bed?

  • Them 4 shit all over Il Divo :)

  • where is nick jonas?! xD

  • @AngelOfMusic1202 He was shit at the concert. That's why he wasn't there :)

  • @SuperTommoSaunders not much. he's still adjusting AGAIN for theater singing. :)

  • @AngelOfMusic1202 Well, I was at the concert, and he was no where near close to the standard of the other performers :)

  • @SuperTommoSaunders He is. He just lacks the orientation of what classical music really is. Believe me, even a tone deaf/ugly voiced person can be as awesome as (insert more great artist here) with some PRACTICE and PATIENCE. :)

  • @AngelOfMusic1202 nick jonas only play in the 25th anniversary; and he played on the queen theater but there's no video =/

  • @ncisgigfan I see. D= Thanks forthe info :)

  • @AngelOfMusic1202 you're welcome! :)

  • Where the hell's Ramin.

  • That awkward moment when the poor are advancing steadily downstage.

  • why lea salonga is not there? :(

  • If there is one song that makes me cry EVERYTIME i listen to it, its bring him home with 4 valjeans!

  • Great voices, but, wow. Unparalleled music quality.

  • 10:03 - this is how a real man should look like

  • Les Misérables... I can't believe I watched for the first time this September. I can't imagine life without it now.

  • Blimey, that gave me goosebumps and the end had me in tears.

  • 4 classic Valjeans all hitting the same note at the end of the song?! WOW :D

I saw it 3 years ago when Simon Bowman was valjean. It was the definition of Epic :)

  • @BenK8319 That was amazing. Gave me goosebumps. There are some incredible performers out there. I saw this show in 1980 and fell in love with it.

  • I know people have complaints about Samantha Barks, but you've gotta admit that she's a million times better than Lea Michele.

  • 24601

  • Obviously the cast were in a rush so they could get to the chippie before it closes.

    Far, far to fast!!!

  • the movie ver next yr should be interesting with hugh jackman as valjean, he can sing, a powerful voice.

  • @storylady Yeah, Hugh Jackman sings as well as acts. But can Russell Crowe sing?

  • @Evilgidgit4Ever Actually Russell Crowe can sing, he's not got the voice I'd imagine for Javert but I'll not judge until I see it.

  • @IronMaiden2924 He can? Oh, wonderful. ^_^

  • wtf? worst on my own I have ever heard. I think that's the way rebecca black would sing that song. WTH? no offense,,,, just sayin'. :P

  • 4:45 On My Own

  • I really miss Javert in this, anyone, Roger Allam, Phillip Quast or Lewis Norm are all fantastic and would fit perfectly

  • And JOJ is a musical theater god.

  • Phantom is the biggest musical in history...

Sure Les Mis ran one year longer so far...

but gross-wise, Phantom is the biggest.

    ;D

  • i just love this musical !!everyone in it has amazing voices

  • Its all about Alfie Boe! Phenomenal! Samantha Barks is amazing too! Going thursday nite to see the show :)

  • Samantha is great. I really like her. BUT her Eponine should dirtier! She's too clean!

  • This perfomance is just beautiful!

  • A shame they didnt make a cd recording of the 25th anniversary concert

  • One Day More is my favourite song from the show, so powerful, shame it's not in this mix

  • @hatsofftothezebra1 Yea..they could probably not get all the performers for it

  • I really need to see this show...

  • WOW !!!!

  • WOW !!!!

  • This musical is my favourite of all time.

i had no interest in this musical until i saw this performance last december and heard Samantha sing. Perfect.

  • I've seen Alfie do this live and I actually couldn't believe what I was seeing! SO AMAZING :)

  • <3 "To love another person is to see the face of God." <3

  • on my own sucks. sorry to say that

  • Is that the voice of Tom Baker doing the introductions? It's just like watching Little Britain lol.

  • Fabulous
