Byron Lee (1935-2008) was a true Soca Ambassador. He took Soca to the world & was the man behind Jamaica's Carnival! Other than cricket which sometimes unify us he was the most unifying figure through soca. When will TUCO get it right and start recognizing none Trinbagonians artists that made a difference as a matter of fact TUCO don't pay tribute to the correct Trinibagonian artists, it all about friends! It is when an artists dies TUCO shed crocodile tears & pose for photos opportunities.
I had the opportunity of meeting Byron Lee, over a 4year period, when he played for our carnival parties,in Trinidad, and he was one of the best music arrangers I know. He had akeen ear and a stickler for perfection, he'd make his band members check the sound system hundreds of times until it pleases him. R.I.P. Byron.
I have this on wax!
