  • do u and your buddy have utube videos playing a cover together? your cover was really cool

  • Oh yeah.... and the other thing I like is the mystery of is that, Tom may or may not have had his assed smoked just then....

  • I absolutely love this video because the song is great and the sound is awesome and your back patio looks like a cool place to hang out.....if you put the scissors up higher .haha. you took me back to a happy time. Thanks ;)

  • hey lady.....

  • @mongo0606 Oh HEY.... that's what's missing... I knew I forgot something.... :)

  • @JustPlainDB lol:)

  • Cool, very good cover! Hope to hear something else from LZ)) in acoustic by you))

  • bom gostei do video, e o coroa é roots (Brasil)

  • @ninjarider546 Actually, a friend of mine in college used to play this almost perfectly... I copped his version by watching him play it and then attempting to imitate his hands.

  • good^^

  • @tuzu1117 Thank you.

  • not exactly how they play it at parts, but still really good

  • @ThaBurner420 Thanks, I took acoustic license...lol

  • wow you can really play that guitar! good job!

  • thats amazing how long have u been playing?

  • @mrzapzap88 Thanks for the compliments, I have been playing since I was 13. It took a while to figure out how to appreciate the acoustic guitar for what it is.... too many years on the electric

  • brilliant

  • @straaats Thank you very much....

  • woah, didnt expect this. awesome cover

  • I still have a problem. Enjoying playing :D

  • great cover. i just learned this song hopefully it will sound like this someday

  • @hahathatsfunny123 Keep at it.... its the hammer off roll that takes the longest time to get, but pretty soon it just flows.... take it slow to start..

  • There should be a "love" button instead of "like"!

    fantastic

  • Great Job man, your cover is my favorite to listen too.

  • That was played superbly, and I really enjoyed it.

  • Bravo! Very very well done!

  • awesome :D :D :D how could somebody not like this

  • I wish I had an uncle like you, so he can teach me led songs..

  • i just picked up a guitar a couple weeks ago and i am determined to learn this.

  • Pure talentt

  • Someone give gramps an electric guitar quick! He's got that electric part down! Lol. :D . Old people rock!

  • @chill3n456 Gramps has a few electric guitars in closet but I like the percussive sound an acoustic can create... especially Zep tunes... Old People INVENTED rock.... lol... sail on... :)

  • @JustPlainDB does gramps have a mandolin in his closet? if so, then the battle of evermore is one that i would love to see you play!

  • @JustPlainDB

    Why are you so awesome.

  • @JustPlainDB me too, i love how the acoustic gives that thick sound, where wood and steel combine.

  • @JustPlainDB

That's exactly why I also like playing the western guitar and beginning to appreciate it more and more, that's percussive effect can't really be done on electric. I like your acoustic version of the electric part.

Oh, Btw. great playing, you play really well, and I can see you are enjoying yourself playing this

  • @Hopleet I learned this song in college while watching a friend play it...I was amazed at what he could do and worked at it for years and eventually, I could sound sorta like the song. No tabs, just eyes and ears. I am sure I will never play it exactly right, but its still a great song.

  • wow....

  • that taylor sounds beautiful and your playing is incredible, very strong

  • OMG I HAVE THE EXACT SAME TAYLOR!!!!!!!!!

  • Excellent! you are the man.

  • Now thats played with some emotion!

    Very nice job there bud

    Cheers from Australia

  • @leesmartin Thank you very much...

  • Wow!

  • Yes!!!

  • woooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwww

  • Nicely done, good sir.

  • ridiculous. jesus christ amazing :D

  • @WeKnowGaming Well thanks, you are most generous.....

  • @JustPlainDB yet to find a better cover 4 years later :D

  • That was awesome!!!!

  • my FAVORITE cover of this song by far :DD loved it. ♥

  • hey there! EXTREMELY well done! but you don't even need me to tell you that!

quick question ... how long have you been playing for? and have you been a zep fan for a long time now? it actually shows in your playing :)

  • @abdulsadiq Thank you very much... this is one I enjoy playing cuz I can bang on the strings a little bit. I've been playing since I was 13, and listening to Zep since their beginnings.

  • @JustPlainDB that's awesome! i've been at it since 2006 myself .... pretty much play religiously lol. anyways, really great cover! hope to see more!

  • @JustPlainDB

I like how you squeezed out of giving up you're age

Myself, I've been playing since I was ten, but I have to say zeppelin propabably had a few albums out already when i discovered them.

  • @TheStompDowns LOL... I started listening to Zep just as the second album was coming out... we lived a bit north of the metro areas and the radio stations were still playing 1910 Fruit Gum Company on the radio until Whole Lotta Love came out. I'm 58, so when Alice was singin' "I'm Eighteen...." I was... Michigan had some great bands in the late 60's and I am privileged to have heard most of them live at 20 paces.

  • @JustPlainDB What do you want? A cookie? lol just kidding. Cudos to your dedication. Zep rocks, 'nuff said.

  • huh, didn't know Jimmy Page wore glasses.

  • VERY NICE

  • thats really cool

  • @24dodgecummins1 Thank you very much...

  • great cover!!!

  • Horrible cover. This deserves to be rated down and their wasn't a solo. BAD!!!

  • @xXKilamanjaroXx Sorry you didnt like it. I find it hard to solo on an acoustic guitar with just one guitar playing. I know I know... Tommy Emmanuel can do it... yeah I know.... I guess I'll just have to keep trying ..... Maybe you would like my Warren Zevon covers better... no solos on those either, same reason....but sometimes it just takes a change of venue... Better Luck searching for solos...

  • @JustPlainDB Fantastic:) This cover really is something to be proud of!

  • @rousis14 Thank you. Now if I could just write one of my own and didnt have to cover someone else's song, that would be really great...

  • @xXKilamanjaroXx not as bad as your incorrect use of the word "their". Which is worse, do you think?

  • @sksranger19882 It is always sad to witness imperfect grammar, especially the more simple applications. It could have been worse, he could have written, "they're weren't even no solo", but I cannot point fingers, I have been known to misuse Lay, lain, laid, lie on too many occasions, in fact, each time I use ONE of those, I am almost certain it will be incorrect. Oh well, thanks for watching my back. Peace.

  • @xXKilamanjaroXx are you retarded? post your version, we'll see how it stands up to this.

  • Is that a big baby? I have the same thing if you were wondering.

  • @chuckben1995 Nope... that was a Taylor 714 Grand Auditorium

  • This is really great. You have a lot of talent. Keep 'em coming man!

  • Can you post the tab for 1:19-1:29? Sick job.

  • I dont know how to write tabs, but that section is pretty simple. Just grab the 5th and 7th frets on the 6th and 5th strings and kinda strum hard and mute the rest of the notes you don't want with your palm or the other fingers of your left hand. I know this isn't much help, but its pretty pentatonic at that point.

  • You fucken suck balls

  • LOL.... the level of communicative discourse on the internet never ceases to amaze me. Thank you for your most intelligent and insightful critique. I will try to not suck the next time...., so if I wasted 2:24 of the time you have on Earth I apologize. You can never get it back, ya know? LOL.

  • LOL just fucking around. Your tone is badass and i got jealous that i only have a yamaha.

  • oh.. okay...peace bro....I have a Yamaha plywood top FG200 that I LOVE...its been my companion for over 30 years and it absolutely rocks.. in fact, I bought when I heard Page used one to record with

  • nice work man

  • Amazing work man. I just finished mastering stairway after teaching my self 2months and i've moved on to learn this song. Any suggestions?

  • wOoOoOoOoOOOOOOoooW que chido muy bien

  • Gracias

  • totally awesome dude

  • Hey Thanks....I am glad you liked it.

  • are you jimmy page? lol my god your goood

  • Hey Thanks.... but don't let Jimmy be reading this...he might take offense...grin..

  • Ahhh... yah, riigghhhhtttttttt......... not a bad job but jimmy page, well you have a ways to go if you want to play like him, hope you don't take offense..grin..

  • No offense taken at all. I seek not to play like Jimmy Page, but rather use the natural limitations of my own appendages to push taunt ferric lines into ebony in an approximation of popular tonal waves.

  • That's some nice wood thar

  • i know what you mean ,its just a deadly melody you sure are your. one of my inspirations

  • you kept it alive the whole time great job.

  • I almost lost it at the transition point.. but I soldiered on....

  • rock on

  • Comment removed

  • I really appreciated your excellent rendition. The tone and the spirit of your playing are truly your art.

    Thank you.

  • Thank you! This is a great song for changes.

  • Many arpeggioes and arrangements are absent between chords...

  • Well yes.. you are most correct.. You will also notice that Jimmy Page is absent from this video as well....but hey.. thats music for ya....

  • Beautiful response to that utube squid.

    Left my arse off. Thanks.

  • I try to be polite,, but just enough.... lol.

  • haha good answer man thats pretty funny

  • You never know when a good reparte will surface, huh? It helps when someone is playing a great straight man role....lol

  • Littbarsky89-

You must also take into account Jimmy Page over dubbed this with at least 2 more guitars. One of which was a 12 string.

I really enjoyed this, good playing JustPlainDB.

  • amazing cover!

  • led zepplin was an amazing band there creation for music is unexplainable of how they create such masterpieces, now u did a good job playin that song im 15 years old and led zepplin has inspired me

  • wow man, your fingers are always moving! lol

    nice cover

  • that is amazing, could you do black dog?

  • You sir definitley knocked it outta the park. Im only 24 but my appreciation for this music from artists like jimmy page i cant put into words. And then when someone like you can can play it perfectly and show it to others makes me love it even more. very nicely done.

  • Thats some pretty nice compliments. Thanks. If you are only 24, I will give you the same advice I give my musical children. Listen to as many different artists and styles as you can. Try to play the songs you really like and then work on incorporating all of this into your own style. Music is a blast, and its the best FREE therapy in the world. I am glad you enjoy it so much.

  • I'm only 16 but I agree with you completely

  • Wow your are great. I am a big fan of zeppelin and this is good. rock on

  • Great? Geez Thanks... Its been a favorite of mine since my college days when I watched a dorm-mate name Wiley absolutely NAIL this song with his eyes closed. I've been trying to duplicate that ever since.

  • How long have you been playing to just sound out the notes

  • Since I was 13. Most of my copying comes from trying to find the notes by chance, but its easier when I can see someone else play it right, then I know where to start from.

  • i have been wanting to play since i was 13 if that counts for any thing

  • Easily the best cover of Over The Hills and Far Away I've ever heard. Thanks for this great cover of a great song.

  • Wow... thats quite a compliment... I thank you.

Listen to Craig Cohen's version with a voice that won't quit.

  • This is amazing, you would seriously be my hero if you could send me some tabs.

    :D

  • Thanks for the kind words, unfortunately, I have no ability to write tabs, I just fish around the fretboard looking for the right notes and then try to get my right hand to hit the strings to match up.

  • good job sr.

  • You rock old man

  • Thanks....we all try to remember how to do that from time to time... btw, the guy that wrote this is older than I am. I'll bet he can still rock a bit too. :)

  • i can't get that intro down, even though i have steel fingertips

  • Just think of your fingers as bouncing on the pull offs. dont try to pick it all... lots of left hand note making...

  • fantastic

  • One of my favorite songs ever, and this is one of the best covers i have ever saw of any song. How long have you been playing for?

  • Thanks for the kind words. I've been playing since I was 13, which in retrospect is a long time, but it seems like shorter.

  • wow! that was so good. you did such an awsome job!

  • Very nice tone!

What acoustic brand do you use?

  • Hey Thanks... getting tone comments is really cool... that guitar is a Taylor 714, which I love for its wider string spacing. I also have an old Yamaha FG200 "campfire beater" with a laminated top that sounds like a million bucks, an old friend.

  • whoa, this is an excellent cover!

  • Love it. Your guitar sounds great. I love hearing the entire song acoustic.

  • Thank you very much. Its amazing what a little camera microphone will pick up.

  • I never was a zep fan but i am just now getting into acoustic (again)! And this song really sounds great. Your playing is really exceptional.A pleasure to listen to. I am truely a fan.

  • 5 *****!AWESOME!

  • Hey Thanks.... you made my day.

  • nice, very clean

    i wanna see more

  • cool

  • Very nice

  • is that a keg of beer in the back ground?

  • Nope, that was a can that had three kinds of popcorn in it at Christmas time...I use it to store sunflower seeds for the backyard birds..

  • I had a urge to sing in soprano LOL :-)

    Great sound......

  • Hey Tom... I've been doing the video thing for a couple of weeks now... check out my other stuff by clicking on my name up there...
