Im a huge fan of you aquachigger just 15, i just bought my fight metal detector today because u have inspired me. Will i have good findings if i used to find old arrowheads in my yard?
@SuperAlexMoore Thanks! The more you go out and look, the better your "luck" will be. Keep your eyes open for arrowheads, but because they are not metal, the detector will not find them. Good luck out there!
@willam1992 I do. But to be honest, stuff like this musket could have washed down the river from miles above. So, the location of the find can be of limited value.
We found some in the water and they were all bent as well. An old timer had told us when they were reissued supplies they would hit the barrell on a tree bend it and throw it in the river so it could not be used against them by the enemy.
.....@crash14me2 I'd believe that as I have found several other barrels there that are bent just like that. The wood was gone on them, but I did manage to get most of the pieces to them too. Thanks for the info!
Exquisite find my friend! I am 15 years old, and you have inspired me to go hunting for Civil War relics, I have been wanting to search for em but hesitated.. Also, I live in Ohio so, its gonna be difficult... But if I find anything i'll be sure to share the video with you aquachigger
.....@brandonparker4u Ohio had huge numbers of soldiers that served in the war. You will have a chance to find relics at any of the old homes where one might have lived. Plus, there are many camps in the state you can research. I wish you luck!
I clean everything up and display it. Some of my finds I have out on loan to local museums. I haven't sold anything, but have given quite a few things away to people who have expressed a genuine interest in history. Thanks for checking out the video.
My god!! All those silver coins.... I think you are the most lucky guy out there detecting by finding this pile of silvers. I would have cryed and laughting at the same time dancing and screamed like a little girl! Have you cleaned those blackish coins after you brought them safe home? And how did it go? Lucky!!! HH
@hellsmetaldetecting On the silver coins, I only cleaned off the black flaky crude. What I have left is the coins at the end of the video as I shot them on the table. I won't clean them any more as I would start to take off the coins surface if I did do that (or so I am told). I hear what you say about screaming and jumping about, but when you have other people swimming and fishing nearby, sometimes discretion is the better route to take :) Thanks for checking it out!
@swinginsouthjersey It varies greatly in the water. One of my other videos from this summer shows me finding a Civil War carbine. In it, the wood is almost completely gone, but the iron is in better shape than the musket. Thanks for checking it out!
Wow!! Yet another pretty awesome find. How many metal detectorists can say that they've detected a civil war musket. Your river must run through a pretty important area of the civil war to come up with so many absolutely fantastic relics and coins like that. Keep on finding those awesome things and Good hunting when you begin again :D

I would think that the wood would be rotten away, I guess being submerged kept it nicely preserved.
Nice find
