I Hate narcotic pain pills. Wisdom teeth out got perc 5/325. After 3 weeks i went back for a follow up visit. My dentist asked me if i wanted more. Remember this is three weeks later my pain stopped after 3 days. Of course i said yes cause i liked them and how they made me feel,after that i haven't stopped using them since. I feel they are perscribed to freely, almost like some doctors are unaware.

I think anything narcotic should only be given to anyone under 18, during hospital stays in exponentially regulated rates. These things are in the face of kids everywhere, like never before, its going to kill and or ruin the lives of hundreds of thousands if not millions. The Government, state and local law enforcement are now aware and worried, but I really think even given their state of alert, they only are really aware of a small fraction. I would say One in 10 households don't have them.

I have two types of arthritis. With out these pain meds I couldn't walk much less show interest in anything else, because when you are in pain that takes presidence over everything else. When I don't have my pain meds I feel painful and flat. Listless.I worry that I may enjoy my pain meds too much. They seem to be the only comfort I experience in this dreary life. Without pain meds I am depressed and lethargic. With them.... I am invinsible. If they cut mine out.... I wouldn't make it.

it sucks because i DO need pain meds, i was hit head on by a car last year, i was on my motorcycle, i shattered my knee and broke some bones in my back, (something in my back shifted? or slipped? idk) and when i try to not take meds (im on roxy 30's) and i know im addicted, i know i can stop, sometimes i quit for a few weeks just to see if i can, but when i do quit im in so much pain sometimes i feel like crying or screaming out =/ the pain effects the quality of my job performance... ='( sucks

All you addicts that take meds to get high ruin it for people like me who liv ein chronic pain and have to us ethem to even walk! I follow the doctors orders and do not go over. It took me years of suffering to get any pain meds as doctors are scred shitless to precribe because of addicts who are taking too many, snorting them and injecting them. They are dangerous if not monitored correctly and self medicaring. Be careful!

@ticks4ticks4 thats by far one of the most ignorant things I have ever heard. Most opiate addicts I know never wanted to be an addict. Yes there are those that bring it upon themselves, but a lot of doctors overprescribe very very addicting meds. Lortabs, dilaudid, and oxys are basically Heroin! People need to realize how horrible addicting they are. I have an addict and want to sopt, but I wish it was that simple. You have to REALLY EALLY want it. It just feels so good and HOOKED ME.

Drugs dont get up and walk into peoples bodies, someone makes the DECISION to use a drug, and you make the DECISION to gain a addiction.

Doctors aren't to blame either, a doctor can prescribe enough drugs to drop a elephant, but he cant make you take them, only you can.

Hold PEOPLE responsible for there actions, dont blame drugs for peoples poor choices.

@PhuckAllYouPeople Have you had docs give you stuff before you knew what it was? I was only 16 and had a lot of anxiety so I was prescribed xanax for it three times a day. They were the 1mg blue footballs. When I stopped, as he had told me I could do, I had a fucking SEIZURE. He never told me to taper down. There are a lot of people who make really dumb choices and I do agree that some people almost choose to be addicted, but most people I know never wanted to live in HELL.

I like this PSA because it gives you the facts, and allows you to make up your own mind. A lot of people get introduced to this stuff because they got injured, not because they want to get high. The chemicals are addictive, and that is the main problem.

@theweedmeisterr i agree with you.if a patient has proof of the illness. i would treat them for it.what is not told here is that combo drugs like lortab and oc are very good for those that otherwise be forced to lay in bed with no quality of life.

 these drugs give them that ability and people should read for themselves what the dangers are and control that danger by education.

i am also a pain patient myself,and after three years on lorab, i am not addicted at all because i monitor my intake

Its a very worrying situation that has grown in the last years, a lot of teens are abusing from prescribed drugs, more attention from relatives and Physicians is needed to stop this from growing more, around 15 to 20 percent of patients abuse a certain drug at least once in their life. I have met many such people in the last year.

Some are addicted; others get the scipts to simply sell them. There is quite a market for these meds.

I have met a few that have legitimate use for them, that want only to avoid paying a office call fee.

In the end; the state taxpayers paid for them, initially.
