  • NOW THAT ROCKS!!!!!

  • sensible on guitar or bass?

  • @nachowill95 errrm guitar

  • Vanian gone from using hair gel to 2 cans of hairspray now its a half a can of hairspray lol

  • Fuck yeah.

  • lip synced--don't like this footage

  • @mrDahlface I don't think it's lip synch..i mean if you listen to voice and solo it doesn't sounds like the studio version...

  • LOL Sensible is so fucking crazed in this video. He has the best sense of humor.

  • sensible is such a funny fella and you can always have a laugh with him before or after the show....

  • I love how he completely eclipses Brian James in this video.

  • is there a better quality version of this video out there?

Damn, Dave Vanian was the first goth.

  • ye look on my profile ive faved a really good quality one :)

  • More like the first Badass, ;]

  • he started the clothing movement, he was a bella lugosi fan...^^

  • ダムド最高!!いぇーーーーーぃ♪

  • How come The guitar player gets in so few frames?I think it's when Brian James was still with them. He wrote almost all their early songs and was a great guitar player. He shoulda got in more video shots, and his axe deserved to be more in the mix! I have an old cassette tape of The Damned at CBGB in '77 I think, and the NYC crowd was not very welcoming! They scream "bring back the Dead Boys", "you suck". And Vanian threatens to stop playing unless the crowd stops throwing beer bottles at him!

  • Bad as that may have made The Damned feel, what a great slice of the NYC punk scene of the time you described.

  • The NY crowd's antagonism (or that displayed by a few), was unprovoked.Vanian tried his best to calm them and win them over. To "Bring back the Dead Boys", he replied "Oh yeah, I'd just like to say, I think the Dead Boys' drummer, Johnny , is f-in' great!"

& Vanian told a dumb joke:

(Qu.):"Why is your dog wearin' brown boots?"

(Ans.): "His black ones are at the menders!"

-&- "Just had a bawul miss me, right? If ya don't like it - FUCK OFF, right? I don't play to people who fro bawuls at me."

  • its because brian james is boring on stage....look at dave and the cap go....

  • tis Captain sensible.

  • What boooooooooooooy?

  • i criminally think this song is ok. yesterday i criminally walked my dog. he had to shit, criminally.

  • can any damned fans tell me just who the sleepeaters are? i have a song called the last mile and i'd swear it's sensible singing.

  • The Damned are probably the most influential band in regard to today's music, and so few people criminally don't know who they are.

  • Rat is kicking that bass drumm, all the time!! Like Moon did!

  • yeah, they had a lot in common

except scabies actually listened to his fellow musicians

  • shit vid good song bring back the old days like this.....

  • Saw a vid recently with the Cap playing with Eddie and the Hot Rods as a kid in a suburban backyard back in 74. No wonder he was so good by 77.

  • they practically invented so much of what we hear these days from the suck-ass teenage bands. The Misfits too. I was floored when I first heard the Damned. I was just so amazed. Its always like hearin em for the 1st time. Never gets old. Cant say that for most bands. Nope. Just a HOT song and a one-of-a-kind sound.

  • still just as good ya know - they aint lost a thing

  • True punk and probably the original Goth, the look anyway. They need to come up with a new name for all the crap that's being made these days because it certainly isn't Punk.

  • @Fantomdruid its called crap.

  • @Fantomdruid

The Damned one of the best - thats from an old bastard

dunno the dave looks part Bela part Alice =- still a great band

  • i think the vid is slightly out of sink,...

but fuck it, cos i like the damned.

is this the origional tne from the snickers ad? ive moshed to this before!!!

  • they sound really good

  • Excellent - the first "punk" performance I ever saw!

    AND still going strong!

  • blimey 30 years old this song and still going strong

    LONG LIVE THE DAMNED

    XXXXXXXX

  • when everything pointed to a great future, now the future aint anything like it used to be.everything really mattered then!

  • your coogee bay hotel gig was awsome

  • yeah captain sensible

  • yes to true

  • A real punk band unlike the crap with have to put up with these days!!!

  • One of my favourite performances by The Damned, but I always thought this clip was originally from the Marc Bolan show !! ?????

  • yea i heard about that

  • seen these twats at boro rock garden 1979 captain you pissed all over us at the front

  • "seen these twats at boro rock garden 1979 captain you pissed all over us at the front"

That is too funny - man that could have been me. I was with this very cute girl but the B went back with him - fckn' groupy. After he had his way I wouldn't go near her. What kind of disease must he have? That piss takes the cake - we would have killed him. thanks for the laugh.

  • Bahahahaha. What did you expect?

  • great song, better than many bands of these days... y

si pilar la banda es buena pero me gusta más el estilo de buzzcocks.

  • David looks sexy

  • yea the damned

  • Muy buena banda pilar del punkrock!

  • looks fucked,sounds fucked,still great

  • seen them live 1978, kinema, dunfermline scotland feckin brilliant!

  • Jimmy Page's favorite group. Drummer's name is Rat Scabies. Perfect.

  • I'll be Damned! This is a pretty neat, neat, neat song! (All puns intended)

  • An awesome song!

  • Ha Ha ha ...love Captain's cheap Paul McCatney Hofner Bass with the price tag still on it!(The Mummies went on to mimic that gag in he late 80's-early 90's) Also love his pratfall!!I do think they're lipsynching on this though...you can hear the girls scream when The Captain trips!! The Pistols never rocked this much!!

  • yes they do

  • yes, they did rock and maybe more for the year or so they were around originally

  • they sound really good live

  • Right you are! I must be getting senile!

  • These guys are great!! I dig the Captain's sonic guitar sounds.

  • Actually, Captain Sensible is playing bass in this video. Brian James is playing guitar.

  • sounds amazing

  • Wow, Amazing. I love this show. Captain is charismatic and sexy as usual. Cool performance.
