Everything Sufjan produces is just as amazing as anything. This new direction he took, the whole Age of Adz album is pure genius. I saw him two nights in a row and both nights he mentioned that his folk self is pretty much his old self, which I am just fine with. He gave us so much folk music that is beautiful and this is refreshing and great. I respect everything he does.. he is briliant. nuff said.
@Yonggbaek - shut your pie hole, you hipster bitch...you know it was Jimmy Fallon late night show. Its funny how you know your pop culture, but dont know the Jimmy Fallon's show. PS: Surely will I pray to Lord Xenu that this is the future of music. You fugpacker.
Sufjan has always been sonically experimental and brave. I think this stuff is beautiful and brilliant. Folkies, you can embrace electronic music. It's not heartless or silly...some of the most gorgeous, soulful soundscapes have been produced by electronic artists. Not only that, but though the sounds may be made by machine, the machines are made and controlled by humans. Sufjan has not disappointed me in the least with this album.
Artists are supposed to change and evolve. Why would you want every album to sound the same? If you want to hear what an artist did previously, go listen to it. I love when artists change their sound. I believe that's what they're supposed to do!
I saw Sufjan for the first time on Jimmy Fallon's show a few nights back. I had never heard anything by him, and I was intrigued by the awesome weirdness of the outfits he and his band members wore. I see negative comments about that in these posts, but I can tell you that it was pretty cool, in my opinion. I might add that I'm going out to buy the album, will be a Sufjan fan for life. Oh, by the way, I'm also a 57 year old woman.
I saw him on some live show last night, that was the STUPIDEST song I've ever heard in the 21 years of my life................ And the two chicks standing beside him looking like they're trying to do a mentally challenged cross of that Grease dance and The Macarena. I felt like that guy who shot his tv over dancing with the stars... I mean come on the dude had post it notes on his freaking forehead and guitar... THAT WAS TOO FREAKING MUCH! Even the host was embarrassed.

Love this track, his versatility as an artist and his ability to push the envelope against new grinding territories.....literally..... sorta what Bjork did with Medulla. Sounding very much like he is venturing back to "Enjoy Your Rabbit" with more orchestration. Kudos, thumbs up for the entire album. A different Sufjan, but hardly inferior.
Yeah, come on now. Just recently I saw someone complain about how "everything Sufjan does sounds the same". That comment I couldn't believe. Seriously though, this is hardly a new direction (listen to "Enjoy Your Rabbit"), it's just a divergence from what people have come to expect. I think it's great.
@nastas82 agreed. this is incredible. if you want your "young acoustic sufjan" back then listen to Michigan and illinois again. Coming from a long time sufjan fan this is some of the most beautiful music I've ever heard from him. I love this new stuff and his old stuff for what it is.
neat.

Such a good song. This whole album sounds great. So much happening, but at the core such great melodies. Lyrics engrossing as always.

@themgoodpancakes A lot of Sufjan's early stuff is really electric and experimental soo....

@themgoodpancakes Haven't been listening to this album too much but it seems way overdone with electronic samples. So I very much agree with you.

Nonsense, this track represents a new and interesting direction for Sufjan and is fantastic.
