I'm not saying that killing thousands of civilians is justifiable at all. The United States didn't even like the idea of dropping an atomic bomb on any civilian area. But, we couldn't afford to continue fighting with conventional weapons since the japanese soldiers would fight to the death for every island no matter what.Therefore, the war would've lasted much longer and many more american and japanese soldiers would've died. Not even showing them the raw power of the bomb would've scared them.
