  • I played this peice in the high school orchestra at Carnegie Hall when I was in 5th grade. The tempo needs to be faster. enough said.

  • Eww! Torture to the ears!

  • that clarinet solo at 2:04 is supposed to be for the oboe no?

  • Young people tend to play a slower tempo. But this is pretty good guys. The sound is nice. Hope you had fun in London. That's most important.

  • this is soooooo slow...also you can tell it should be played faster because the strings are going so much faster than the director on the main melody parts. The conductor obviously thinks that his interpretation is more important than coplands original tempo.

  • you know what everybody who dissed us? We were good for the amount of our experience. I had fun in London. yeah it wasn't perfect, but you know what we did it for fun and the audience loved it!

  • look, im playing this in my youth orchestra..... it is a very difficult piece. and i dont think that taking it slower afects how well they did. the notes were almost perfect. the conductor of this orchestra is my middle school conductor. i know he was very proud of them considering that this is an adult orchestra piece and they were very brave to take it all the way to london to perform.

  • What the fuck is this? hahaha pathetic

  • Are they playing is slow motion ???

  • I'm currently playing this song in sinfonia, and I'm a middle school. yes, the conductor also conducts at one of the middle schools. The conductor has taken his orchestras to many festivals and we have won high rankings. Those who complain about the slow tempo, no matter how the music is played, South musicians try their best and we should be proud that they did. It's not like at last minute the conductor can change the tempo and have the whole orchestra screw up.

  • a tad slow, but work on listening to other sections of the orchestra, that's what got my philharmonic orchestra through it..

  • Makes me feel good about the youth orchestra i am in

  • I feel it is a little slow...but I am not an expert

  • Hahaha.

  • i hate london

  • @CiscoNast

Well as Londoner I hate whichever place that you are from.....though how can I hate a place that I don't know?

  • this is good, but it seems kinda under tempo

  • age don't matter

    just experience

  • It's a complicated "grown up" piece for a student "young" orchestra. I applaud the ambition of the conductor or whomever chose this for them.

  • 2:14 is where it really gets painful...

this has absolutely nothing to do with America or perfection. they're not together and their sound/ the audio isn't great. I realize this is an orchestra of young people but my youth orchestra just sight read this piece on saturday at performance tempo without stopping and it sounded way better than this...

  • FUCK U... amarica is perfect (lol)

we just started this in my orchestra and we all stopped and just started cracking up, but our teacher just plowed on conducting

  • It's the sound of Texas.

  • While they are brits and everyone is firing off how they cant capture the american spirit (its way true) but they ARE a young school orchestra...of course they wont sound amazing, you dont need to go balls to the wall criticism on them : /

  • Absolutely terrible. For crying out loud!

  • LOL

  • We're taking it at this tempo at my school for now. They sound pretty good but at times, they didn't sound the least bit together. It could just be the audio.

  • wow....it's a dance....not a ballad.

  • needs to be a lot faster. i just heard it at my school area concert. the highschoolers did great on it

  • this needs to go wayy faster. the basses need to get the notes right.

  • @abecedarianx yeah, this needs to not suck (in order to be good).

  • geez.. that's not the american feel I must say.. Not the right performers to get it down!

  • ya I agree its too slow, I bet they would be able to go faster

  • Poor version, too slow. Sounds like a middle schools version.

  • the instrumentation in this is great but like the other two commenters said, they really need to pick up the pace. they slowed this down a ridiculous amount. imagine trying to use this version during a western movie or something like that..

  • It is just not an easy piece to master period.

  • Egads did they seriously slow this down by like 30 bpm? The up and down runs by the string section sound fucking horrible that slow. I understand that they are children...then if they can't play it that speed then too bad. I wouldn't expect anyone outside of a prodigy orchestra to be able to handle this song before late high school at a really good program. You don't hear Flight of the Bumblebee at 160bpm do you? It's insulting to the people that can actually play this song that you play it slow

  • F'in Brits really need to pick up the pace!

  • @agoodintention

I agree that the pace is a bit slow, but there is absolutely no need to be rude about it whether they are British, French or even American. Your bigotted attitude just displays a lack of intelligence!
