  • From my basic n00b gun knowledge, no. No! You DO NOT need to remove the barrel to field strip the Browning Buckmark. This is pointless and 'probably dumb' as my mad bro once exclaimed. Unless you have a specific reason. Or like to mess with the zero of the barrel (theory).

    Probably dumb.

  • This silent film sucks!

  • thx for the video!

    just purchased a buckmark.

  • I'm speechless!

  • When you reassemble the Buckmark does the gun have to be resighted again?

  • Thanks for the video

  • @jdmgwaps

    No problem.

  • @itsSenorQueso you don't have to remove the barrel for every field strip do you? hows the return to zero after you have put the pistol back together?

  • My dads going to kill me!!!! I lost the C clamp that holds the spring in place, can anyone point me where to buy another one before he asks for his gun back??? I happened to be outside when it flew off, and after 2 days of using a high powered magnet to search the area have come up with nothing....

  • Good vid but buy a new less grainy camera and set up proper lighting next time.

  • LOL i was looking to buy one of these till I saw this vid......S&W gets the nod now!

  • I'll pass. Not that it's a bad gun, it's more field stripping than I am willing to give it. Thanks for the video, though.

  • I'll type a little slower this time so maybe you can understand it.

Beretta makes some NICE guns, SOME using nice wood and metal.

The NEOS unfortunately looks like a plastic toy ray gun.

Hold a Ruger MKIII Standard in your hand then hold a Beretta Neos in you hand and the NEOS will feel like a cheap toy. Disassemble both guns and you will quickly realize the Beretta was designed better. The MKIII is a very soild gun that will last its owner a lifetime, just don't take it apart to clean it.

  • It's okay to talk.

  • @1LonePuma Good to know. Thanks :)

  • @1LonePuma he's blindfolded...

  • There is notreason to take the barrel off during a field strip.

  • Very good video. Simple and told me everything I needed to know. I started watching another video on the Buck Mark but the terminology was bad and too much detail. The guy some how manged to make two videos, part 1 and 2, about 20 minutes, to show what you did in 4m 9s. Good job.

After taking my URX Practical apart I decided it really wasn't necessary. I just sray the action with CLP, scrub it with a narrow tooth brush and dry it up with patches/Q-tips and use a bore snake in the barrel.

  • Buckmark is a nice and accurate 22lr handgun to have but I just don't like disassembly and reassembly part. Afraid that someday the threads and screws will wear out eventually...

  • @kennytt10 Disassembly is SUCK in the world. Do not sell this pistol to Western countries...They laugh to American Dum ass! enginner. I already laugh (from Asia) so we have 5 continents, please SAVE this gun and use only in the USA..to keep face for American...bad design Engineers! poor! I hate to see the show! of video clip

  • Quite easy, compared to Ruger MK

  • @ss19800 They all junk made in USA I ever seen!

  • @CharlieDoan Hey CarlieDoan... The Beretta Neos that you like so much is practically a copy of a High Standard Dura-Matic--an American design.

  • Great video! After 2 years and a few thousand rounds I decided to tear it down to give it a cleaning from top to bottom. Your video gave me the courage to do so. Thanks!!

  • Looks like the Browning has that same plastic recoil spacer that the S&W 22A has. Interesting.

  • that looks like the easiest pistol i seen to take apart i just dont like the unsrewing and srewing back in

  • IMO the Browning is more difficult to disassemble than the Ruger MKIII !

OK the Buckmark looks easier to clean, but the idea of a gun reciever being held together by screws kind of bothers me. The Ruger can be tedious at first, but once you do it about three times it's actually easier and better made if you ask me ! The ruger holds itself together albeit the back bolt pin. The Browning has too many delicate parts for my taste and it's a shame because I really like the gun.

  • @CharlieDoan

The engineering mind of an American named John Browning pioneered firearm design... but if you prefer Beretta... you should shoot what works for you.

  • @itsSenorQueso John Browning 2012...LOL

  • @itsSenorQueso kkk M-9 (Italian designed) How come not using US pistols??? replace .45 for 9mm.

If you hold in hand a Beretta then put down and hold American pistol, I feel American gun FINNISH IN A MACHINE SHOP BY HAMMER...That's all I can say!

(A Vietnamese used guns from both sides)

  • @CharlieDoan browning isnt even made in america browning is based in Belgium

  • @CharlieDoan but that beretta neos is wierd lookin to me. my pistols gotta look apppealin to the eyes for me to even wanna touch it.

  • @CharlieDoan That's an awfully general statement to make. Now compare the Neos U22 to the S&W 22A, which is even quicker and simpler to field strip.

  • @CharlieDoan It's not fair to compare the three on terms of engineering.. The Buckmark is a 1985 design, The Ruger Mark I being a 1949 design and lastly, the Neos being a 2004 design..

  • @CharlieDoan Neos means "new" in Greek, and Beretta's American design staff started with a clean sheet when drawing up this new line of .22 pistols. The lines are meant to appeal to a new generation of shooting enthusiasts who are respectful of the past while bringing a fresh attitude to the shooting sports.

Still the Buckmark is a better pistol.

  • @CharlieDoan I agree. All I want is something that is rugged like a Ruger MKIII, Accurate like a Buckmark, and easy to disassemble as a Beretta NEOS.

Beretta makes some nice guns, some using nice wood and metal.

Unfortunately I don't know what they were smoking when the made the NEOS. It looks like a plastic toy ray gun.

  • @starshipfantastica ..Plastic gun?? Do you know M-9 that replaced 1911...If they are very bad engineers then how come American choose to replace their .45 pistols?

    - Don't you think when Italian make this gun and they don't TESTED??

    - I am not an American and I am not an Italian.....lived in the USA and i collection gun for fun, more less I knew most US and Western pistol...US are few things behind western world, if you want to compare like German, Italian ..NO EQUAL to US

  • @CharlieDoan While I agree with your oppinion on the take down... I own a Neos, after 2 weeks of ownership the extractor blew off and its been at Beretta ever since waiting to get fixed. Going on 4 weeks now, when I call them about it, all they will tell me is "yep, we have it, we'll get around to fixing it, could be another 2 to 4 weeks" While I do like the Neos, Beretta's customer service has really turned me off, and I wouldn't recomend the gun to anyone.

  • So its... 3 screws? If you're confused by anything you saw here you shouldn't own any of them.

  • Thanks for doing this.

  • @edwsshaw1 : No problem!

  • pretty lousy design, you have to pull the rear sight off every time to strip???? your point of impact will change as a result of removal and reassembly

  • Comment removed

  • @9secondsflat : I haven't had any accuracy issues with this gun to speak of... but then again... I'm not a lights out shooter either.

  • great video. thank you for posting this.

  • @neoviper76 : Glad I could help.

  • thank you .. great vid..

  • @chaosmagusgod : Happy to help.

  • Very good! I just bought one of these pistols, so it's good to know that the take down is simple. Which size allen wrenches were you using?

  • G WAAANGIT IT IT IT!

  • that sure is a small PIECE Leanus..thats not the average size is it?

  • can the grip be replaced by a two piece, left and right, version? this grip doesn't look so pretty, and looks too bulky to me.

  • @714JN

The grip is one of my favorite things about this gun.... but yes, it can easily be removed and changed out for something different. Might I suggest looking at the Browning website though as they have close to 20 different models of this pistol. Some of which have wood grips if that's more your style.

  • @714JN : I would advise you to hold one. I really like the grips on this one. But they are really easy to change if you decide you don't like them. Also, they sell several different versions with all different types of grips straight from the factory.

  • @714JN Not per Bullseye rules where the grip has to be ambidextrous. Otherwise, yeah, plenty of accessories.

  • I took mine apart when I got it a year or so ago, and I had to fight getting that spring-loaded thing with the plastic thingy in to its place. I actually bent it a bit, the rod, and now the crummy gun jams every 3rd round or so. But when you put it in it looks easy.

    Sheeeeeeet.

  • @guyNbluejeans Update: I changed the ammo to bullets that are round and it doesn't jam now. The truncated ones I was using were not feeding properly into the chamber from the magazine.

  • my browning buck mark keeps jamming.

  • is the lower frame metal or polymer?

  • Steel. I have one of these (bi-tone). It's a heavy gun.

  • @aerodynamicband

    Steel.

  • Thank you so much, I almost brought a book online on how to field strip my .22 but you save me money and time, great video. THANKS AGAIN....

  • @thulio33

I made this video because I wasn't able to find one when I was trying to learn how to take it apart. Glad it helped!

  • thanx for the vid bro.. I just got mine and was wondering how to strip this bad boy!

  • thanks bro, about to break mine down to clean it now

  • @TBirdEd76 real men don't clean, get your bitch to clean.

  • good vid. thanks!

  • wow good vid, thanks

  • This gun is a great little .22 but it is a pain to field strip. I am used to Glocks, which are child's play in comparison. If you are not going to take it apart, make sure the feed ramp is clean.

  • sorry, i forgot to ask this in my last comment: do you know where i could get a METAL rear sight base with the same rear sight? why is it plastic?!

  • also i forgot to mention the shitty plastic rear sight base cracked on my camper after a few thousand rounds of use

  • the grips on mine come loose every time i shoot it, and i can easily wiggle the slide left and right no matter what...

despite this my camper is accurate and reliable with a variety of ammo, although i mainly use cheap stuff

i do not reccomend using the "gold" ammo as there is an annoying gold colored residue that will foul the pistol, very annoying

  • Great video. One caution: My Buckmark is pre-2000 and there is a recoil spring guide to deal with that doesn't show up on this video. Not a big deal but it took me a few minutes to figure out on re-assembly. Watching this video gave me the courage to take the thing apart after all these years of cleaning it with Q tips and Bore Snakes. Good thing I did because the recoil buffer was starting to come apart.

    Thanks!

  • Thanks for taking the time to comment. Glad to hear it helped.

And yes, Q-tips are a must for cleaning this gun in my opinion (and all my guns really).

Now if only I could hit something with my clean gun... then I would be happy! I've never really been a fantastic shot with a handgun unfortunately.

  • y cant browning but that in the construction

  • Actually is it really necessary to take gun apart like that for cleaning? I have just cleaned barrel and areas that are accessible so that I don't have to tear it down.

  • Not necessary at all really with this gun. You can get it pretty clean with just a handfull of q-tips and some gun oil. I do it because I enjoy it. It's really only necessary if you were going to put it away and store it for a long period of time... in which case you wouldn't want any powder residue anywhere. To tell you the truth... mine always shoots better when it's a little dirty. I always have to run a couple of mags through it after a deep clean before it is functioning properly.

  • The owners manual suggests an initial cleaning to remove the anti-rust compound. Is it necessary to strip the gun to clean it?

  • Very neat and you make it look so easy to do. Are those regular allen wrenches and did they come with gun? If not then what tools do I need to disassemble?

  • The 3/32" hex head wrench was provided with the gun and is used to remove the sight rail. I had to buy a 7/64" hex head wrench to loosen the screw located to the front of the trigger guard.

  • So then it looks like I will need special tools to break it down for cleaning? The barrel and chamber has already been cleaned. Only the parts y accessible by tear down have not been cleaned.

  • The 7/64" wrench is for removing the barrel. There really isn't much need to remove the barrel though. There's not much that you can't get to with it on.

  • my screws are so fight from the factory that they broke the wrench, Only managed to get one out

  • Sweet Buckmark with URX fiber optics. I bought a flat black URX Buckmark last November. I have been very impressed with this gun. Anybody thinking about buying this pistol. BUY IT !! You'll be glad you did. It is the BEST !!!

  • Good job, very helpful. Know of any problems with the screw holes wearing out?

  • Good stuff! I was looking for this video 4 months ago!!

  • I purchased a buckmark with a Picatinny rail bracket several months ago and it worked fine initially. But I took it apart to clean it as per the video and now the magazine keeps falling out, causing the gun to jam. Anyone else had this problem?

  • hmm... I haven't had any problems with the magazine and I've disassembled mine probably 20 times. I would contact Browning about that one. Hope you get it figured out!

  • I'm so confused!!! Buckmark or Mark III??!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! Brownings and Rugers are great from what I've gathered the last two days of researching. Rugers have good aftermarket stuff. But the Brownings look sexy outta the box! Didn't know field strip could be harder than Glocks but like SenorQueso said, cowboy the f*ck up and do it. Around here in Bucks County PA I'm seein 9mm ammo going for $40 for a 50 rnd box! .22LR may help my addiction to shooting. This Browning is the key!

  • awesome. i dont know why this other dude rated this pistol as hard to disassemble. after watching this video it seems to me its not difficult or cumbersome.

  • It's just like any other gun. Once you do it a few times it's not so bad. It's just figuring it out for the first time that can be a pain.

  • very helpful, thanks very much

  • Thanks for the positive feedback. Hopefully my wife will let me buy more guns and I can post more videos :)

  • thanks for the video, it's very well done and easy to see what you're doing.

  • Glad you liked it. Thank you for the positive feedback.
