I met a pastor who was same sex attracted, but he has been faithful to his wife for 30 years now. I'm not sure if I would describe that as him being "cured" of a "mental disorder", but I do feel that he himself feels free from the bondage of sin ---and yes, to many people who become Christians, a life of homosexuality is not honoring the LORD, and is a sin. Research must be done. But the problem is that a strong attraction to the same sex is normal(it's even mentioned in my religion textbook) but having a homosexual relationship is sinful. They're gay people who are shamed into leading an unfulfilling straight life. In order to satisfy their urges, they have (often) anonymous and secret gay sex while pretending to be straight. No amount of treatment is going to make them not gay. At best they can attempt to not to have gay sex and continue to live a phony life.

@splashchampion one problem with what you say, if a heterosexual guy or girl, self indenty's themselves as gay, but in fact are not than they are heterosexual, and can seek treatment to become gay? that is what you basically said reversed and it makes no sense. Sexuality is based on attraction not preference, if you prefer to have sex with guys, but are not attracted to them you are not gay but that is your preference, but if you are attracted to them then you are gay, do you understand or not?

Im a Christian and I do believe some Homosexuals are truely gay and I pray for them. However, I knew many "gay" people when I was younger and a lot of them wanted to be gay as part of a click to be in. Half of them got out of it and are married now. Dont fool yourself, it is part of an overall plan to remove God from our lives.

The APA took gay off the disorder list due to political pressure. They didn't take it off the list because of a scientific discovery. There is no biological reason for someone to be a homosexual, its all mental. Just like Transgender is still on the disorder list. Theres a lot we still don't know about homosexuals and we should find the answers.

Furthermore, Roman Catholics do pray directly to Jesus Christ as well as sometimes humbling themselves before Jesus to the point of asking Mother Mary and Saints to pray for them to Jesus, which is acceptable.

They also pray with rosaries and to various "saints" and "apostles" which is also not Christian doctrine. So you should probably sit down with a Christian who is knowledgeable about theology/filled with the Holy Spirit, study the bible, & pray for wisdom about the things u are discussing on this page.

I choose to be straight, did everything a church told me to to become straight, got an exorcism to become straight, and almost committed suicide when none of their BS worked. There are many people who went to the church instead of someone not so ignorant and many of them now are dead by suicide or traumatized and atheists as a result of the church.

Research must be done. But the problem is that a strong attraction to the same sex is normal(it's even mentioned in my religion textbook) but having a homosexual relationship is sinful. You must go against the bodies ideas for most of them are confused and at a young age people say a wrong diagnosis(you're gay and you born like that and you can't prevent it) so they grow with that conclusion until the point that they believe it, fight for it, and is nearly impossible to turn back.

That was disgusting,Liberace was 57 and Thorson was 18(though he hinted it started before he was legal) which meant not only was Liberace a homosexual but a pedophile as well,yet that has hardly been printed about.
